Excellent post, sir! Simply brilliant! You should be awarded the Most Useful Comment award! In addition, you've increased your post count by 1! SIMPLY AMAZING SIRE! ALL HAIL THE QUEEN! In all seriousness, use your brain, ponder for a few moments about what you are going to post, and then make your decision, instead of being a useless 12 year old who's trying to pointlessly inflate their own post count with pure, utter goose shit. That's right. I called your post a pure pile of sincere utter GOOSE shit. It's obviously a bug/glitch, you god damn moron. (or not?) PS: am I cool?

PLEASE NOTE: This is a suggestion for the upcoming DayZ standalone game in development. I'd like to see DayZ provide more modding options, as well as allow players to make slight changes to their installed DayZ. For example, harmless changes that won't keep you from playing on retail servers such as texture packs or font packs (for whatever reason you'd want to change a font lol). Additionally, I think it'd be nice if there was a separate single player option. By separate, I mean give players the option to play a single player character (cannot be loaded in multiplayer) and the option to play a multiplayer character (standard DayZ method of playing online; cannot be played on single player). If this were to be added, it'd allow a lot more moddability for the single player portion. I think that eventually, this could lead to some really good mods being made for single player and then possibly being approved/implemented by the actual developers on retail servers. TLDR: It's two god damn paragraphs, but basically I'm saying I'd like there to be an OPTION to play offline in a moddable single-player mode on a single-player mode only character.

The only weapon I actually appreciate the crosshair for is the Crossbow, because the crossbow ironsights are extremely inaccurate. If that was fixed, then I'd say remove the damn crosshairs. No crosshair results in the requirement of more skill and immersion. Win-win really.

If it's not the mouse smoothing thingy, I think it's either a server-side issue or you're using the wrong beta patch version thingy. If you're on a server that has a different beta patch version that the one you have, sometimes it gives you super shitty frames-per-second. That was the issue for me at least. :P

Hmm... well, I bought the DLC packs anyway. Good deals on them all and totally recommend you guys get them. Private Company improves survivor character textures with HD textures, British Armed Forces improves camo clothing and ghillie camo with HD textures, and Czech Republic DLC (I believe) improves the dog texture. They also make other subtle improvements with weaponry and scopes. Appreciate the feedback btw. :beans:

Just curious if the DayZ standalone will still utilize content from the ArmA 2 game and its DLCs. In other words, will the character textures of survivors and camo clothing still be blurry without the ArmA 2 DLCs installed, or will that no longer be an issue? The DLCs are only 5 or 6 bucks now, thanks to Black Friday on Steam. So yeah, I'd totally appreciate your responses. Might get them anyway since ArmA 2 is fun even without DayZ and ArmA 3 won't fully release for at least a few months. But nevertheless I'm still curious about this! So yeah, thanks in advance! :D

Here's a typical screenshot of a typical camp on Little Hill. :}

I'm just curious, do server restarts remove/despawn player-placed fortifications such as barbed wire, sandbags, or tank traps?

What do we expect from DayZ Standalone?
phronk replied to TGH's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Hmm... that's true. I also hope they fix the flickering shadow/light glitch when running through cities or forests. Don't know if anyone else gets that... Oh and they should also alter the flashlight to appear more grungey. The light is just too crisp and intense. Adding a flashlight light texture effect or just making the light edges in the circle fade out a bit would contribute a bit to making the flashlight make stuff look scarier. There was a flashlight effect that looked really good in a scary game... can't remember what it was called... might have been Condemned or Left 4 Dead. -

I'm not so sure about that though, judging from the screenshots. Not saying the screenshots look bad, but it doesn't really look like they've made any graphical improvements. Then again, they did say the screenshots were taken in "Normal" settings which explains the jagged shadows and stuff like that. -
What do we expect from DayZ Standalone?
phronk replied to TGH's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I'm really looking forward to the standalone version of DayZ, but one thing that sparks my interest that I don't think has been confirmed yet is whether the graphics will be modified or improved in any way? The graphics aren't going to keep me from buying the game. In fact, I think they're pretty good! But improvements can be made, and so I am just curious if the DayZ development team even plans on working on the shaders in the game or something like that. It is very unlikely to be on their current to-do list before the game releases, but if it's planned to ever get some graphical improvements, that'd be pretty cool. B) ~ Phronq -
Hear the flies, body is missing. (V1.7.2.4)
phronk replied to Satyricon's topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
This happened to me twice in a day. I setup a tent inside of a tree by accident and crawled into it to try to see if I could still store stuff in it, and when I turned my body while inside the tent, I broke my bones and died. This was out in the middle of no where, pretty much. So I can guarantee my body wasn't hidden. So I ran back to where I died in the tent, and although my tent and body were still there, right after I accessed my dead body's gear and accidentally closed out, the body disappeared. But the flies continued. Same thing happened when I died at a crashed heli (in an empty private server) to a bunch of zombies; I ran back to the heli site and my body was gone, but I heard the flies. :\ -
New Standalone Screenshots released

If the hotel in Cherno allows players to go on every floor and explore all the rooms in just that one building, I'd be a happy guy. :) Plus it'd totes make it harder to spot a sniper in, which is always fun :D -

Consolidated Weapons/Equipment suggestions
phronk replied to rocket's topic in Mod Announcements & Info
Posted this on Reddit: • Shovel • Rake • Hedge-trimmers • Baseball bats (wooden, metal, etc.) • Police baton • Nailgun (can also be used to repair/build stuff aside from being a weapon) • Lead pipe • Electric conduit • Scrap metal/stick of rebar • Home-made shanks (in prison, items like toothbrushes can be crafted into knives, so why not in the apocalypse?!) • Pickaxe • Lawn-mower blade (slingblade!!!) • Sling-shot (so we can go Bart Simpson on some zombie asses!) • Home-crafted 'spears' (shower curtain pole thing, some tape, and maybe some sharp metal scraps on the end should do) • Fire-crackers? (maybe can also extract the gunpowder to craft ammo?) • Remote control toy car with a camera/remote explosive on it? • Golf clubs • Cleaver • Meat hook • Swords, axes, warhammers, etc. found in museums • Plank of wood with nails in it • Use a knife to sharpen a branch into a short wooden spear • Weedwhacker (used similar to a chainsaw?) -
A player with the profile LordGoldenrod had hacked in items and filled a ural pickup with them. When one of my group mates managed to steal it from him while he wasn't paying attention, he repeatedly teleported to my mate's location while he was driving away. Coincidentally, only seconds later, my mate instantly got a huge lag spike and lagged out of the server and was unable to re-enter the server, but was able to join others fine. According to another friend of mine, it was likely that the suspected hacker was 'sending the group-mate packets to cause him to lag and time-out'. This occurred recently, at about 8:30pm EST, 10/03/2012. Please investigate this. Thank you! :)

This happened a few months ago: Me and one of my group-mates in DayZ were returning to our camp hidden deep within the woods. We had just been scavenging nearby towns on the outskirts of the forest and were going back to our base-camp to store the new loot we've come across. To make ourselves a less noticeable target, we kept our distance from each other as we marched towards the camp. Then suddenly, as we were just barely able to see one of the camp tents, several shots were fired at my group-mate. He was hit pretty bad and was knocked unconscious; thankfully, I had the equipment to save him. It was just a matter of dealing with the hidden bandit stalking my now-downed partner. Immediately and instinctively, I dropped flat to the ground and stood still next to a tree. I was on slightly higher ground than my team-mate was; the hill I was on was descending towards the camp. I looked left and saw nothing. I looked straight ahead and saw one of our tents poking through the trees. I looked to the right, and there I saw two bandits moving in towards my unconscious partner in low-profile with their weapons drawn. I was able to make out that one of them had an assault rifle and the other had a sub-machine gun; and MP5 it looked like. Thankfully, I had my DMR out and was far enough from the targets to be in perfect range. I peered through the scope and focused my aim in the direction of the armed duo. Luckily for me, they were walking next to each other and they both stopped at the same time. I took advantage of this opportunity and quickly fired two shots. The first shot pierced the skull of the first, closer target and passed through his partner's head, killing them both instantly. The second shot hit the closer target somewhere in the torso. Amazed that I had pretty much killed two guys (who deserved it) with a single shot and that it was a double-headshot, I approached my downed partner and revived him with morphine, a bandage, and a bloodbag. (we were returning from a hospital medicine run, now that I think of it) We then proceeded to loot the two dead bodies which carried some heavy weaponry and ammo. It was a good day. TL;DR, I headshot two guys next to eachother with 1 DMR shot, saved my unconscious team-mate whom they shot, and looted the two dead bandit corpses. My EPEEN level got maxed out. :}

Supposedly Rocket checks out the threads on this forum from time to time, so hopefully he'll see these handful of brief questions and provide answers soon. :] 1. It has been a while since we've seen another handy-dandy patch for DayZ. Can we expect one to come around during or before Halloween maybe? 2. And additionally, I'm quite interested in seeing something from DayZ standalone! A screenshot for us all, maybe? 3. I read that you guys will be using the "ArmA 2.5" engine for DayZ, instead of the ArmA 3 engine. What's holding you guys back from utilizing the ArmA 3 engine? 4. I've come to accept that hacking is and always will be a huge issue with the mod, so instead of focusing on brainstorming an idea how to prevent it for the DayZ mod, how about... redoing the zombie A.I. and choppiness? :D (redoing the zombie A.I. for the mod, not just for the standalone) Much love in advance, ~ Phronq the Tonk

4 Questions for Rocket/DayZ developers
phronk replied to phronk's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I guess one thing I should have clarified about the hacking portion was that I was talking about the DayZ mod, not the game. I don't think he has the power or authority over ArmA 2 or the anti-cheat program they're using (since DayZ is sort of powered by both) to actually implement any of his own reliable changes to prevent hacking in DayZ. What I meant was, instead of beating around the bush with DayZ Mod and not getting anywhere with preventing hacking for the mod ('Tis the harsh reality of DayZ Mod I guess) he should, instead, work on releasing a patch or hotfix that fixes zombie A.I. Appreciate the community's assistance with answering these questions, but I'd still prefer a response from a developer of the mod. It's just more... official. :P PS: Ah shit, must've zoned out on #1. Changed it to an actual question lol [EDIT] Marked question #3 answered; didn't realize 2.5 meant 3.0 with a couple stuff not in it. As long as the game's graphics are more modern and perform well, I'm a happy guy! -
4 Questions for Rocket/DayZ developers
phronk replied to phronk's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I had a feeling this community would assume these questions were answered, but I assure you, they were not. I've googled, watched interviews, and even the recent Euro stage presentation of DayZ thing, and I still don't think these questions were addressed directly with a solid-enough answer. They've only been answered with partial responses like 'maybe.' And if they are answered and I somehow overlooked it, it helps to support your argument that they are answered by actually linking evidence that it is. Otherwise, I'll just assume you're trolling or an idiot. ;) -
The engine used for ARMA 3 or better would be great. Better graphics = more enjoyable experience (as long as the gameplay is kickass still). ;)
