  2. the f*ck are you all arguing about? It's in alpha. Yes that's an excuse. But a good one. Most of the things will change over time. The reason that balota is now main PVP area in SA is that there are just 3 weapons in the game. No reason for anyone to go north. That. Will. Change. Over time, Balota will only spawn lets say rare m4 and shotguns/makarovs/etc. And the NWA will have all the cool stuff like NVG, sniper rifles and so on. /thread

I like the fact that most of the buildings are accesible I like the whole medical system and the thirst/hunger system - the more you move and the more weight you carry - the faster you are gonna get thirsty-hungry (at least that is how it appears to me) I like the customization of weapons - its awesome, but it sure needs alot more weapons and pieces. Im sure thats on the way though I like the character customization, but again - needs alot bigger variety of items. Again, that is probably on the way as well I like that its far less laggy than the mod was in earlier stages, actually, for me it doesnt lag at all. FPS is a different topic though... I like the little transportable gas lamps. They are awesome at nightime, and you can even use them to trick and lure people into a trap ! I like the fact that there seems to be more shop buildings, and less military ones I like that balota is so populated now. It gives you a choice to spawn and get to action immediately, if you just want a quick play and are willing to risk a death in order to gain gear easily. If not, you can simply go somewhere else.. I actually like the melee system, you just need to get used to it. Practice with a baseball bat on zombies. I like the server browser and overall the steam thingy. Playing with friends has literally never been easier in Dayz I like that you can even open wrecked cars and find stuff in them. Saved my life once when I was dying of starvation . I like the new GUI and everything. Just needs a few graphic improvements, thats all. I hate that the zombies are really there just for the atmosphere, and they suck even at that. You should have a fair chance fighting a zombie 1on1, but it takes you literally like 10 mins of straight punching to kill a zombie, however surprisingly it takes you one bullet from anything to the leg to kill one. They also seem to be even glitchier than in the mod, in the terms of sights and hearings. I hate that you cannot one-shot a player with an axe anymore, or atleast I havent been able yet :D I hate that there is no point in sneaking. You cannot hear other player footsteps as long as you are more than 2m away from him, so why should he sneak anyway. I hate that they released this game and put this price on it. "Alpha, alpha!!! " well thats not an excuse, games are not meant to be RELEASED when they are in ALPHA. They are meant to be tested at that point. But whatever, i love it anyway..

I'm from EU, my steam acc name is Nathaniel, i'm not a bandit and my goal in the game is simply to survive and, well if I see a bandit before he sees me, i'm not gonna give him a chance :P

    Zombie Apocalypse?

    im totally for this. You have all my beans. This game just doesn't feel like a zombie apocalypse AT ALL. It feels like free running KOS you-have-to-eat-or-die game. Basically a call of duty with persistent world, nothing more or less.

I have AMD Athlon x2 240 (that's dual core 2,8ghz), ATI Radeon HD 4650 1gb (altough I'm not sure about this, in DXdiag it says the maximum video memory or whatever is 2,8 gb :O ) and 4GB DDR2 ram. So, should I be able to run this? I played dayz mod for a pretty long time, it didn't run very well but I had a good stable 25fps, altough it dropped to 15 in cherno/electro etc. If Dayz standalone (hence arma3) will work on this pc on atleast 25fps, I'm buying it right now without hesitation. Thanks for the answers ;)

  9. So, beign a player of dayz for a few months now, I can say that this game is all about sneaking, stealth and trying to not beignt detected while trying to keep track of players ( = enemies) . However this, unfortunately for me, is quite impossible to do. I never actually achieved the moment everyone is talking about and I see in the videos, the moment when you sneak upon someone without them even noticing. How? How is it possible that everytime I try to be stealthy, I always, and don't get me wrong, I mean EVERY single time, I get shot in the back of the head withou even seeing who actually killed me. Uhm, back to the original question. What are the mechanics for footsteps, for example? When should I be able to hear someone's footsteps, I mean, at what distance? And vice versa ? And also, can you hear the footsteps through a building, or, if you are inside and the other guy is outside, can you hear each other? Thanks for the answers :) Would also appretiate any good tips for making my in-game lives last longer than 30 minutes :/

I am in a building and I still drop to the floor, unable to do ANYTHING, I can't type in chat, can't press esc, it's like I'd be uncouscious... wtf? Every single time.. I can onyl quit the game through alt+f4... great, absolutely great

    I think the EVR is that nuke thing, when suddenly you just see lighting, like in a storm, and a huge thunders, BOOM and then another BOOOOOOM, and then like GGGRRRHUUAAAAAAAAA, then the sky changes it's color and there's this big final BOOM... and well, as far as I can tell if you're not in a building you simply die. End of story. And it's so much retarded, I mean like we don't have enough kill on sight idiots and hackers... And for the c*cksuckers, well.. they are scary motherfuckers, but once you kill one you aren't afraid of them at all. They are even more glitched as normal zombies, and as far as I can tell, they can't even hit you if you simply move, go to a building, climb up the stairs or anything... oh and in the night you can ee their eyes glowing even when invisible

  13. Well I was looking at WarZ gameplay by Lewis, and he just ran past 2 zombies, which tried to hit him but unsuccesful. And immediately I imagined The Walking Dead, where the zombies would actually catch the guy, for example, hold his arm, or actually bite his arm, just you know, they would literally throw themselves at him. Well, question is, how to imitate this in the game? F*cking. Slow "Debuff" From A Zombie hit. Yea, you heard me. Why? Because if a zombie hits you, you would AT LEAST slow down a LITTLe bit and be like "OH F*** " and only then you would continue running or something. At first I wanted to suggest an animation for the zombies, where if they would hit you in close quarters, in example a school in Electro, there would be a chance that the zombie will "stun you", grab you, push you against the wall and, let's say you would have to press a key fast to push him away. If you wouldn't, he'd bite you or something... Now how cool and realistic would that be ? And this would definetly make zombies more dangerous, leading to more teamplay, or more smart playing. No more "running arround elektro with train of 60 zombies behind u and beign like * well at any time I can just run into the building and lose them* " What do you think ?

    Yea, I can totally see you playing on a HIGH populated server (which would mean nearly 5-10 people online !!!! wow! ) playing with the people you already know... why don't we put 200 bucks there ? I think that would solve the DayZ eventually. Noone would play it, noone would complain. Btw, someone said that the pice is gonna raise as the game will progerss - does that mean that I buy it in alpha stage and then I'll have to pay again for beta etc ? Or does it mean that I'll simply buy it in alpha for like 15€ and I'll laugh at the faces of those poor people that didn't buy it and will want it when full released for like 40€ ? :D
  17. Really? I've played current DayZ alpha for about 2-3 weeks now. I was never able to stay alive for more than one day. I never got a sniper rifle, or ANY better gear beyond the enfield and some revolver if I got lucky. I grouped up with a friend of mine. I'm alive for 3-4 days now. I've got a camo suit, M16A2 with grenade launcher, NVG and all the needed stuff to survive. Reward for surviving so long for me is beign alive. Having some cool stuff. Not dying. What do you want, a fucking achievement? Like, when you log in on the fifth day, you will get " YOU JUST REACHED DAY 5 ! YOU GOT SOME BEANS IN YOUR BACKPACK FOR THAT" ? Srsly, in real life apocalypse, would you want a reward for staying alive? I think the biggest reward would be staying alive by itself. Back to the topic. I've read somewhere here about the groving plants thing. I think that would be awesome. Imagine you and your group of 5 would find a small farm, capable of groving plants, and would had enough water supplies. You would settle down. You would go hunting in the nearest forests. Now imagine some other players will find your farm. Perhaps they will join you, perhaps they will try to attack you. You will have the high ground however, defending a building and you will know the enviroment much better. Would make some really cool scenarios... Also, that idea of random generated maps is really ... ehm, weird. Like, how should this work? You would play, then you would join a different server, and you would simply "teleport" to another, totally different world ? Another one - implementing the mechanics that would allow you to disarm a person. Maybe restrain them, hold them in custody, etc. I got another idea on this - a little soultion to alt+f4 while restrained etc. If you would disconnect at restrained state or something, your character would be controlled by AI. So your character would still be in the world, with only the difference that if they set you free, you would just dissapear because you are not actually connected and in the game. While typying this, I got also this idea of "fixing" the alt+f4 thing. Without doing any brutal collecting information, punishing the ones that disconnect too much which would eventually lead to punishing the innocent. What about AI controlling your character shortly after you disconnect? Let's say that if you disconnect in a middle of an open field, your character would automatically run to the nearest forests with no buildings and nothing (to be sure there are no zombies, or maybe zombies wouldn't spawn if the AI would control you). Then it goes prone and waits like 15 second before dissapearing. And if you will be killed, by a player, your body would stay there for a little while. That would completely eliminate the alt+f4 thing I guess. But it needs a lot of thinking etc. I can imagine trying to simply disconnect let's say in comm tower in NWAF and then AI would run with your character through the entire airfield to the woods. That would be wrong, so... IDK. Just my 2 cents :)

  20. Uhm. Please understand this : This is Alpha. Pretty much everything you actually do in game, you are only testing it. I'm also pretty sure all the gear, everything, will be wiped out once the standalone will be released. If you wanna actually play the game, wait for a couple of months. It should be released by then.   21. Ive seen some posts with this Lingor Island in them but I dont really know what is it. As far as I understand it, its just some thiefy team that stole DayZ code and created a new map ? From my point of view, I think it would be awesome if Rocket could actually implement that map into Chernarus, but thats just my speculation. Also, are there servers with this map? Or what is it about? If I join one, is it going to be "unnoficiall" ? Like I would join a cracked server? Thanks for answers :)

    Why this mod is failing

    I've just read the original post, nothing else pretty much. Solution to banditry that's killing the game = zombies as deadly as they should be (like in The Walking Dead and other zombie apocalypse movies/games/series/whatever. Players would be forcet to group up because of the zombies. Hardcore players (bandits as well) wouldn't be actually sniping nabs in <insert random high loot value place / beach> . They would be going an actual good pvp against other GROUPS of players. Which would be harder, more rewarding, more fun. Because simply there wouldn't be too many nabs by themselves as they would HAVE to group up.

    OP is right. DayZ has nohing to do with realism if we talk about snipers. Don't remove them. Make them just much harder and realistic. If that's not possible, remove them.
