Always out of breath (unaccurate aiming)
libertine replied to Wildux's topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
Is your "hold breath to aim" the same key as your zoom? Changing my hold breath to left shift helped me get less tired since i was zooming in all the time. -
My server list has slowly gone down to nothing, literally not one server listed, is that just me? Edit: I see a couple servers now, one experimental, no others.

Bunch of guys at the NEAF east admin building in the walls killing people. Killed me twice, so i guess they're just sitting there killing everybody. Insanely selfish. If any hackers can go kill em or teleport them into the ocean, pls do. The server name is: [-Zap-] 24/7 Daytime | Resets every 2 hrs Hardcore

Just wanted to say how much i love the new mouse movement speed for head movement. Makes it easier to be aware of surroundings while moving. I like the speed up of body movement too.

@op, Hey i had this thought a few days ago, but i was viewing from my phone. What about making some keyboard or mouse macro functions that opened your chat window and typed in a message faster. This wouldn't take care of all situations, but it might help in some maybe. I think adding in some technical lingo to the explanation of being mute or some personal info, like "ive been mute since i was born", or, "since i was six", would add in a little something extra for them to consider, making it seem for legitimate.

I think they should consider changing the name to "advanced". 1st person is lovely. Its so damn nice to look around and know that if you don't see anybody, no one sees you. I actually feel safer most of the time playing in 1st person servers. My own process for scouting the area around a rooftop i was on when i played in 3rd would rarely get me seen and that is just fucking stupid, making for an easy kill and probably making it super frustrating for those who get killed that way, just to see "you are dead" all of a sudden despite having taken a lot of time to scout the area and move slowly and such. I highly recommend 1st. I'm happy to say all of the things i was worried about missing in 1st i never think about having now played it for awhile.

You could try and explain that it ruins your immersion because you put yourself in the game as if you were there and experience it that way, like a virtual reality experience, rather than play it as if it were a traditional game about points or leveling up, etc. Im making assumptions about you that could be wrong though. If you bought him the game and provided enjoyment for him, then its all the more reason to get your way.

later in the future, will there be actual PVE servers?
libertine replied to bioned's topic in General Discussion
NOT restrictive or forced, for the PvE players who would never test that boundary. You'd need it for the simple minded goof balls who can't imagine why you'd want to play that way come to tip over your chess board right in the middle of your game. Me, i want PVP with bandit armbands so i can put all the KOS'ers back on the beach all day long, but thats me. -
To people who think kiling bambis is wrong check this out

99% of what happens on the coast is immersion breaking Space Invaders gameplay crap. -
I've noticed that its much harder to find what you need when your grouped with people because you must share.

I want that bug, I think ruined black cargo pants look the best.

Rocket, please DO NOT remove slow vault animation.
libertine replied to combatcomm1's topic in General Discussion
Newp... Pretty sure if you've reloaded within the past hour and also picked up a hat and been attacked by a zombie up to 2 times, but not more than 5, then you vault. -

libertine replied to bioned's topic in General Discussion
If zombies were like 28 DayZ Later zombies and their speed could be a server option or something and they could grab you and pull you down and other stuff, that would be quite a challenge. -
Kidnapped, Robbed, Tortured & Beaten to Death. The dark side of DayZ
libertine replied to ktulu123@live.com's topic in Gallery
The Russian dude sounded nice to me. Friendliest bandit i've ever heard anyway. You on the other hand sounded pretty dry and unfriendly to be honest. Sounds like you didn't realize this is what most people spend their time doing, playing a game like its a game, rather than an immersive experience. Most bandits i hear have about the same charm this gentlemen has. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qlKA4hYKgO8 -
Rocket, please DO NOT remove slow vault animation.
libertine replied to combatcomm1's topic in General Discussion
This wouldn't be an issue if the code didn't just have you step over slowly when your walking and vault when jogging running...ugh. I also hope it stays. -
Why are you against many military items in game?
libertine replied to CrazyCorky's topic in General Discussion
I think the reality is that it would be painfully easy to kill off all zombies from just about every movie except for 28 days later sprinters. I don't mind the military guns and i'd like to see ranged weaponry made possible from [rare'ish] scopes for any weapon and zero'ing and successful shooting with wind, etc taken into account, rather than from dedicated sniper/hunting type rifles. Although i do think that 2-shot-kills should be ass powerful as they get (or take half your health, giving you a small chance not to make your journey all the way to the NWAF a total waste). One thing i like about using guns in games and part of the reason i think there are so many shooter games is that pulling the trigger on a gun is a lot like clicking your mouse button. As compared to swinging an axe, punching or wrestling someone to the ground, etc... -
Zombies needs to be primary objective for the devs!
libertine replied to Putts_UK's topic in General Discussion
I have to agree with the OP. I worked with professional programmers on a mod for a game and kept track of a dev updating his progress in an internal dev thread. He would frequently list the framerate he was getting with his changes because even slight changes to the code for the A.I. behavior routines would effect the framerate. This was with much less A.I. in a heavily optimized engine. I think these guys are already going to have to perform miracles to get the zombies to be interesting for longer than a week. -
When i was younger, i wish i had someone to tell me that the development of the game i was interested in and checking for info every day/hour was going to take much, MUCH longer than i thought so i could let it go for awhile and do something else. This game is going to take a long time to make. I think much longer than they're current projections if they have the intention of doing it to a high quality.

"Realism" and a fine line between fun and it being too much.
libertine replied to Nibashe's topic in General Discussion
It all depends on how well the realism is done. I find that many realistic games simply don't go far enough to be meaningful or rewarding or add to immersion and it is so sparce it becomes an arduous, repetitive barrier you must climb over to get back to the gamey bits of the game. I think they're on the right track and i would recommend going even farther. Although I have to be honest, i have zero desire too poop in a game unless the game looks as cool to live in as the movie "Legend". -
Anything you would easily know about yourself in real life should not have to break immersion. Its the way its done that matters. I like that fact that they've kept the icons in the inventory for now, Rocket says he likes that too btw. They apparently had been planning to move them to the main screen. Doing something like they did in BF3 hardcore mode and not providing any indication for which fire mode your on, single, burst or auto is downright mental.

Pending Changelog: Experimental branch: 0.34.XXXXX
libertine replied to rocket's topic in News & Announcements
I mean average, which i'd guess is about 3.3, the average AAA game i play is far more than 2 years. Deus Ex, Thief 4, HL2, Metro. I've worked closely with professional programmers as an animator and checked the logs daily watching everyone make their updates to the dev branch and i would recommend you get used to the possibility of major updates not occurring every week. -
Pending Changelog: Experimental branch: 0.34.XXXXX
libertine replied to rocket's topic in News & Announcements
They're working hard trust me. There is a reason games take 3 - 7 years to make. -
Love LOVE the rain, sorry. Good feeling when your camping indoors scoping for bandits all nice and dry.

Guns don't kill people, people kill people, ever heard that saying? Your choice might be to off everyone at the soonest chance possible for the fun of it in an apocalypse, but it wouldn't be for hardly anyone else. It would be much more realistic to see someone in a zombie apocalypse and wave to each other with no fear at all, welcoming their help. I WANT PVP, your confused, more PVP for survivors/"heros" who currently only kill when they manage to actually witness a murder. I just want to kill the PVP'ers, not the dudes who play the game realistically and don't shoot others, and i want it to make sense with a storyline giving reason for the KOS.
-
Of course i understand, PVP'ers are playing a computer game with as much emphasis on realistic, immersive play as they would put into space invaders.
