You think people will moan about the weapon suppressor when it works/is implemented?
libertine replied to crazyandlazy's topic in General Discussion
I'd like to use my rifle more on zombies so i hope it actually works somewhat. They say that suppressors with super sonic are still noisy, but hard to pinpoint the origination, maybe that could be incorporated into the mod. -
I hope you are IP banned and your Steam access to DayZ suspended.

Hopefully they won't, why would there be loot in deer stands. There'd be stale food and old beer cans, if that. I'd rather they focus on making some decent loot in those hard to find cabins in the woods. Or loot by some randomly placed dead bodies of a group of people in the woods that didn't make it. Stuff like that.

What maps would you want in the Standalone?
libertine replied to Draco122's topic in General Discussion
Why can we only pick one? I'd like to see a ruined New York with burned out skyscraper derelicts that you can climb up via emergency stair ways and look out from. Like in the movie Legend. Oh, and Moscow, with an expansive Metro 2033-like underground :) They can hire more people to do it. Im personally getting tired of Chernarus, but i do a lot of exploring because I don't pvp that much since vigilantism is so hard to do without bandit identification. -
Character changes to female no matter what I do
libertine replied to Shroom!'s topic in Troubleshooting
Changing the char doesn't seem to take affect until after you die. -
Would you like to play on our PRIMETIME server?

Oh Jesus, grow up. Global companies make products off of other peoples ideas all day long. Do you think the DayZ team is going to pay the originator of the zombie idea. -
DayZ Sound Design Test - Part 3 Final Added
libertine replied to fortran's topic in General Discussion
Excellent sounds, i agree and i hope they DayZ team watches that as much as the other video. I like the way they have a little sound for just about everything too, like planting the bipod on the ground. I hope the DayZ team sees the value of adding in that type of limited scope view as well, especially for any high powered sniper rifles. -
I'd like the option of being able to control the door. Opening it slower to keep the noise down. Opening it normally if im in a hurry. This would give people in a building more of a chance to hear players entering. We already should hear footsteps a little closer in quite a few situations. "The Dark Mod", a total conversion mod for Doom 3 allowed you to click the "use" key on a door, then you would use the mouse up and down to control the movement. Pretty simple and effective.

The reason why i kill on sight now !!
libertine replied to africanhungergames's topic in General Discussion
They wouldn't in reality. On the other side of things - Why the fuck would survivors want to continue being target practice for PvPers when there is a mechanism for getting the fuck back at them [occasionally] while providing some sense to the WWII reenactment on Chernerus. The arm band could be said to be worn by mercenaries, paid to KOS anyone they see in an attempt to cleanse the land of [what is believed to be a] virus. The red arm band(with a cross on it to draw survivors in) would help identify you to the military and other mercenaries so you don't shoot each other. In return, the military won't kill them and will provide housing and food "after its all over". The survivors are with no arm band while the survivors that have played for awhile, killing only bandits have learned whats going on over time and wear a blue arm band. With this, now you bandits can join in on the fun of being KOS more often from an additional segment of the players. The additional fear is actually a good thing. You got something against prostitutes (just women who don't mind having sex and aren't brainwashed into thinking there is something wrong with it)? Wait, don't answer that... ...just know that the idea that there is anything even slightly wrong with prostitution is one of mankind's most retarded achievements. There are some shrewd people out there who never learned empathy for others, but you go into a supermax prison during lunch, chat it up with the kind souls there why don't ya and see if there is any difference in the body language, verbal responses (or lack of), mannerisms, facial expressions, etc. There is a huge difference sometimes. I've personally had quite a few runs ins with people who let me know directly and indirectly what they were willing to do to me and there is a difference. From the outset of meeting someone you could begin to determine how selfish they are by what degree they protect themselves and how careful they were while seeing how quickly they willing they were to kill you. But we can't see those faces in the game to even attempt to discern for ourselves. Nor do we have any kind of normal interaction to help gauge the amount of empathy they have for others in reactions to statements, etc. We can't expect people to care as much about game avatars as real people and the other PvE content would have to be ground breaking to keep peoples attention for long. For those reasons and more, bandit skins plz. -
We already have 2 basic modes of movement and i think we need a 3rd panic mode for a few things like this. I'd like a "GTF up and run, NOW!" key, In arma 2 you could double tap the sprint key while prone and you'd pop up quick. Also movement keys should cancel animations i think. A "put both arms up [with weapon] to show your not a threat, but immediately, not a few seconds later like the F2 animation. The gun could stay on the chest, as if held up by a sling.

If you rename the file (save it just in case) the file should be recreated with defaults i think.

Deer Stands - Been to 30 of them, never seen a weapon
libertine replied to Leslie Kean's topic in New Player Discussion
I hope loot never spawns in deer stands. Its a deer stand. I do wish more high end loot would randomly spawn in remote locations more and more logical, but predicatble location like air bases, less. -
Wrong. Or at least that theory is not well implemented yet in this game or in the mod. Its a huge stretch as it is. I can satiate my thirst and hunger in a matter of moments from the time i spawn. The game COULD make it so you literally had to kill others to survive, but it doesn't even come close to that. The killing doesn't make any sense as it is and i wish they would give some rational via a small back story to it. Not story so much as giving the PVP a label. Like they were military out to kill civilians or mercenaries paid by the military. In DayZ though, since Rocket gave "bandit skins" to those who killed survivors or anyone that wasn't a bandit, for many people the term bandit has come to mean someone that kills anyone for fun.
-
Nope. If it were, thats exactly what people would do. You'll never stop people from wanting to create their perfect game. I predict that even a finished DayZ standalone will only be an empty shell of its potential, for many people. Thats just my experience with games in general unfortunately. The problem is multifaceted, but the main thing is that many people play the game a ton and burn out. Everything becomes a known quantity the mystery and any surprises are gone. Its human nature to get bored of just about everything, it doesn't just apply to music (as i thought when i was young), otherwise we'd never have had a mechanism to stop being fascinated/made happy by some shiny rock when we were tadpoles and would have got eaten/starved. The endorphin flow had to be curved back then. Thats my theory anyway. This is part of the reason i hope they develop a continuous cycle of new content and vary the behavior of zombies over time, not just randomize it.

This helps illustrate why non-KOS'er still walk around with a gun up at the ready. Reason #1,232,395 why bandit skins and a little background lore would help at least make sense out of the killing.

Red arm band for bandits please! -
Any piece of clothing you associate with bandits?
libertine replied to Mays (DayZ)'s topic in General Discussion
The thing is that as a vigilante, i need a scope to have any chance of witnessing a murder or banditry. I'll sit up high in cherno or scope the NWAF to try and see see a murder while letting tons of people go by who i can't possibly know are not just some survivor guy exploring around. I get very little action as it is and must use a scope and sit up where the snipers do to get any chance of combat more than once a century.... @All: The whole thing about judging people by their gear/camo is that its supposed to be a zombie apocalypse where going into town is super risky. With camo, it also makes sense to wear it because I think we can assume zombie vision IS human vision and therefore camo clothing would be helpful. This is a big part of why i want a subtle red armband put on murderers when they kill survivors -said to be given to them by the remaining military to kill anyone in an attempt to stop the virus from spreading further. The armband could be the way they identify themselves to each other and the military...(and of course it should have a cross on it when you look closely B) ) -
You must eat A LOT to get "healthy" or "healing". After thats its a short wait to regain all your blood and return to full health. Too short IMO ,only about 10 minutes.

Before my last post, when did i say anything about about starting to mod the game before its done? I didn't. In my last post i decided to play "devil's advocate".

Confused, i ate a charcoal tablet and got imidiatly sick
libertine replied to acekaze's topic in General Discussion
I guessed that for testing purposes. -
 Its not your or my business IMO. Some people don't know what they like and its a good idea to give them a taste of everything first before they jump in and commit themselves to something specific. Others know exactly what they want most from the beginning. People could start building assets if they wanted. A lot of people like to create mods, not just play.
-
That is the dumbest, most closed minded, selfish shit i heard someone say in a long time. Thats like saying you paid money for your car, SO DON'T TURN IT INTO A HOTROD! You bought the house! Don't do any renovations or addons! You clearly have not been PC gaming for long otherwise you learned by now that mods can make stock games twice as good or more than they were "meant" to be...... You bought Arma 2 right? W....T....F were you doing playing DayZ?!!!? If your worried about server population for stock DayZ, i wouldn't be. When i came back to DayZ mod recently, there were more people playing it than Origins or Epoch i think.
-
The mod died off originally for me because of hackers, period! I was however getting a little bored along with that though. You know what brought me back to DayZ? MODS!!!!!!!! The Origins mods was extremely well made, with tons of different bandit skins so i could get in on the PvP to, playing a survivor. They also have different hero and survivor skins and the map it was on was also extremely well made, adding "sector B", an island that was supposed to shelter survivors and was great goal to try and achieve just getting there in a boat or heli, which you would have to fix. Epoch was okay, I thought it was well made too, but the zombie could hear way too well making sneaking around unrealistic ( I advocate excellent sight for zombies though).

Yeah, as a sort of vigilante if i see a player, i'll sometimes try and follow him and see if i can catch him killing or robbing someone. Ill have my gun out if i get too close because i'm KOS'd a lot if i don't run with my weapon at the ready. Putting my hands up gets me a bullet to the brain. Wouldn't your group like to have murderers get a red arm band to signify they've killed more than say 10 people? While "heroes" get a blue arm band for killing X amount of murderers? In the beginning you could get a red band accidentally, but over time, your play style would give you a side. You could get around it probably, but that would just continue the much loved distrust between players DayZ in known for. Then you could get in there and hunt yourselves.
