M4 in your hands and Mosin on your back, or visa versa?

Or climb a ladder or eat, etc. -
Question about FPS and Performance? Sorry =(
libertine replied to DeepEuphoria's topic in General Discussion
One thing is use Fraps or Dxtory to keep track of fps, i wouldn't try guessing. Using -winxp bumped me up from 37 to 42 fps looking over Zelenogorsk. -
Wow, so realistic and authentic.

i think object detail and alpha to detail should be removed from graphic setting menu
libertine replied to JohnFromTeamSpeak (DayZ)'s topic in General Discussion
Object details effect on grass density at least is not nearly what it was in the mod. I have a 570SLI setup with a 4.0ghz 2600+ and i set OD to very low sometimes The shadow detail setting IMO is a much better candidate for being enabled and locked out. One, because the setting barely has any effect on framerate half the time, only occasionally does it greatly effect it IMO, and in some cases its actually higher. Two, it has a huge effect on how visible players are. You might think your hidden in the shadows in an apartment when looking at your dark character against a dark background, but disable shadows and now your practically a black on white silhouette. Three, they look beautiful. -
Is that cross eye 3D? Hard to tell.

So I played solely 1st Person Servers the whole day today and my thoughts are
libertine replied to crazyandlazy's topic in General Discussion
Couple things that would make it much better i think. I'd really like to be able to control the amount of lean too, so i can just put my head out enough to see what i want to see, and slowly. Also, I'd be cool to be able to peak out of a window in a building, even lean out of big windows. Then an ability to see what you're wearing easier as the inventory screen does not represent what your clothing actually looks like very well. Finally, i think being able to rotate your weapon in your hands to see it better would be very nice. Looking at my weapon is one of the things thats nice about 3rd. -
Im going to make colorant for tattooing "BANDIT" on the foreheads of KOS'ers.

BattleEye: Global Ban #e797b5 = Cuz Fraps !
libertine replied to fhody125's topic in Troubleshooting
I've been using Fraps solidly for the last week up till about a day and a half ago. No problems thus far. I think it probably had more to do with the hack software you were using. -
what your "big narritive" then in your story?
libertine replied to irl-calibre's topic in General Discussion
I was going to say "the hell?..." and leave it that but this thread is a perfect example of why a tiny little bit of story would be welcome in my opinion, at least to give meaning to 90% of the violence, because it clearly has nothing to do with survival. (nor bikers and clowns...) -
Name weapons that should be in DayZ SA
libertine replied to Grenadier36's topic in General Discussion
Absolutely. -
A good 30% of the friendlies i've come across have payday masks and geared people are often friendly too. First thing i do is gear up with camo/light green clothes and im friendly and don't KOS 99% of the time.

We NEED some way to identify heros and bandits.
libertine replied to 1S1K-Airborne's topic in General Discussion
The killing and straight up battles and ambushes make little sense, so they're not realistic at all in the minds of many people. Making murderers part an identifiable [fictional] clan they belong to or part of the military/gov would add more realism. Not at all in my experience. I've met quite a few friendly people with those on. -
people need to understand that DayZ is Zombie apocalypse GAME and not PVP deathmatch
libertine replied to gamer222's topic in General Discussion
Its not very creepy either. Cherno is about the only place i can think of that is a little creepy during daytime. Interiors are brightly lit and there is very little sign that anything happened at all. (in alpha...) -
Try this, it worked for me and possibly someone else. Go into playback devices, select your device your using, select configure, change to another set of channels(ie, 7.1 stereo, quad, etc) click test. If a prompt comes up saying "device is being used by another app....", click ok and see if that helped. You back out of everything from that point. I have to do this all the time now.

Hell no. At least not super-arcade-easy-to-use like in Arma2.

Currently takes about 10 minutes to restore full blood when "healthy". You get healthy status by eating till it says "healthy" in the inventory. -

libertine replied to 1S1K-Airborne's topic in General Discussion
On the face of it, it may seem more realistic. The Vietnam War reenactment is not. Meaning, the results are not realistic. You can't get away from those results, the KOS PvP, nor would i want to, but at least you can provide some sense to it with a bit of bandit clothing that means something, like they are a faction of some sort. I think a lot of us want to bump into murderers, i do. I want to hunt them and kill them and roast them on the fire. Im not sure about the other guys, but i want MORE pvp than i personally have now, i just need it to make sense. Less danger for murderers, more danger and more boredom for survivors. -

libertine replied to 1S1K-Airborne's topic in General Discussion
From being KOS'ed by me and all the other survivor type players who don't shoot first, thats right. I don't KOS the 5 to 40 people i see in a DayZ session unless they do something "bandity". -
Does anyone play with shadows off to see people better?
libertine replied to joeymp's topic in General Discussion
My tests showed that turning shadows off gives worse performance in many cases. Oddly enough. -
Some proposal for the game- a new point of sight maybe.
libertine replied to gingatsu's topic in Suggestions
I like the factions idea as it would make some sense out of the PvP going on. Loved the S.T.A.L.K.E.R series and playing those is kinda the reason DayZ feels a little bit bland sometimes. -

libertine replied to 1S1K-Airborne's topic in General Discussion
The beauty of the system in Origins is that it only nudges us in that direction but doesn't take us all the way. Anyone is still dangerous, but friendly players can have just a bit more confidence about friendly people being friendly, which i believe is FAR more realistic than what we have now. I believe people would largely be tolerant of each other in an apocalypse, short of one seen in The Road. When all that mattered was food gathering and shooting zombies. It doesn't matter whos carrying the weapon as long as they're not missing. -

Zombie vision is human vision, so why wouldn't survivors wear camo too? -

libertine replied to 1S1K-Airborne's topic in General Discussion
Its best NOT to make it 100% full proof anyway. If people are able to get around the system, then that clearly maintains the uneasiness around other players. It doesn't have to be a full skin, just an arm band or cool looking ninja-like face cover. The fact that in the beginning, the arm band or whatever will be taken up by self-defense or whatever, isn't a big deal, its over time were concerned about, unless people are only going to play this game for a couple weeks.... People can "work" off the red arm band by killing [mass] murderers.
