So assuming base building was introduced, and you had a nice clan or group looking after it or maybe even some bot guards. What area would you fence off and turn into a base? I know this is stupid but I LOVE the string of apartments on the edge of Cherno, right in front of the hospital. You could lock down some resources, the apartments offer a lot of protection and loot on re spawns and each one has roof access to place law keeping snipers. That also means you would lock down one hospital, and need people to declare friendly and trade for transfusions and help from your on staff doctor. Downside? OH MAN OH MAN would that location attract attention, raids and probably eventually a full scale clan/forum/goon invasion. But just like a character can die, I can picture settlements springing up and dying too.

Very happy with this update, VIVA VARIETY! More foods and drinks adds character to the game. Also crossbow might be viable now, I really liked that weapon but the cons super outweighed the pros.

While LAN is basically obsolete we still get together and have some epic Civ 5 (Civ 4 before that) games. It is not "real" LAN and usually we have one or two remote players but the feeling is there... we are getting beer from the same fridge and chips from the same bag even though there are no wires joining our computers. We did that a little with DayZ but my experience is that DayZ HATES computer hopping... usually if you log into your account on a friends computer it will get a little wonky and you need to delete or modify files.

I consider shoot on sight cowardly. I play for fun, so I rarely shoot until somebody else shoots first. That said I have killed a couple of innocents because they decided a good resting spot was at the top of a tall building with a rifle equipped. How could I not think they where snipers?

Yeah I would suggest posting in the medical assistance thread or asking a friend to run a fetch for you. We play in a group of 3 to 4 and every other weak one of us plays solo and ends up in a barn with a broken leg and almost no blood.

Yeah, the movie is like a series of pictures made to acompany the wealth of poetic narrative and description in the book. I cannot imagine having seen the movie without reading the book, it would seem full of atmosphere but ultimately empty. As far as cannibalism... I will take it if they vastly reduce military equipment. I prefer something like that once we are down to hitting each other with rocks and sticks.

Yeah, for sure check if the "broken leg" icon is on the screen. Also see if you can "respawn".

I grew up in Mexico where the roach respawn rate is way too high.

"Huh, I guess new players are spawning in tutu's now" I think this is one of those suggestions that works on an individual by individual basis (most people dont follow patch notes) but that said we still have no (updated) list for the next patch so he might be doing this already.

I would never hack... but if for some reason I did I would go around in god mode granting people wishes and "cursing" those who dont stop shooting... "Ok... you are still shooting even thought I said friendly.. you are now a goat, but your friend gets a new car".

Honestly all I need is one more update to fix the graphical glitches... I've made peace with the f4, falling through floors and other bugs/exploits. If I can play without a supernova of polygons around my favorite locations, I dont need much until the stand alone. That said it feels like it is taking a while.

You 'used' to... not anymore. Hmm... was it a super outdated server? Maybe just a glitch. Either that or somebody is using your character, lol.

I generally feel bad when I kill a player, and exhilirated when it is in self defense. That said my most memorable times have been helping or teaming up with strangers... I wish those moments where more often, but I've had some fun in shoot outs and running from an unseen sniper (hiding under a bridge for minutes while bullets whizz by...)

When I used to play solo (before playing with my friends) I had a lot of "marvel team ups" that lasted one session. My favorite was a supermarket full of friendlies, but the server itself started getting super buggy and we parted ways after like 30 minutes.

Yeah... I have a favorite that never comes up. What I do now is that I lauch through either one, hit escape and I already have my filter set for my favorite server

Unfortunately the female models dont have many options. The male models you can modify in the profile section... personally I have a guy with a white beard that looks like "the most interesting man in the world".

Yup, just like in real life where it takes a bit over a minute to throw an object, and getting beat to death will not interrupt the action. ;) I really enjoy DayZ but I'm all for the improvements the next engine will bring, especially if they involve performing actions and mobility.

I'm thrilled to hear about the new standalone... it will open up a bunch of new oportunities and hopefully solve some bugs that are inherent to the Arma 2 engine. I'm even ok with less frequent updates to the mod, so we can get a better standalone sooner. That said... can get the next patch anytime soon? Those visual artifacts are brutal! Maybe hackers, floor clipping and alt+F4 are permanent, but the new patch problems are getting in the way of our regularly scheduled weekend games.

Not guaranteed but I agree the odds are good. Barns sometimes have some great loot if you want a nice rifle...

I dont mind the bandits, they make the game more interesting... my only problem is that they are the people who Alt + F4 all the time. I dont know how many times it has been like this I yell "Friendly!" They shoot and miss. I shoot back and wound. They disconnect, so they dont lose their "days and murders" count.

I'm friendly but my assumption is that anybody who takes a shot at me is not friendly. Usually I will run, hide, run, and sometime try to fire back but if I hear TWO guns, I'm running. I've had some crappy deaths that way though, like one time I got pinned under a bridge... took like 10 minutes of me peaking out, shots whizzing by, hiding, yelling through my mike, etc... before I finally got killed. Never even saw them. Sure, I can Alt + F4 but that is for "bandits" (lol).

Yeah, the news explains why he would get distracted, kind of a big deal. Hopefully the next update (dogs?) will come out soon, honestly with the visual glitches out of the way, there will be little that stops us from using Chernarus as our playground. ... that said it was hilarious that one of our "team" had not played in several weeks and he is like "why is the horizon exploding and why does my gun not do any damage?". I'm the only one who is on the forum so I send them bulletins on what each patch changed.

I like some challenge but I hope they dont overdue the ammount of commitment the game requires. Some of us have jobs, friends and significant others. It drives me up the wall when I read posts like "it just takes 5 hours to do this or that"

I'm all for mercy but sometimes you have to apply the "ok, here is a bandage... NOW RUN!" rule.
