I'm kind of glad to hear it had been suggested before, I found it more weird than anything that I did not see it on a quick search for Molotov. omg don't even suggest burning down forests because I might do it... in Minecraft fire was my favorite landscaping tool. Yes, I play pretty much all "In constant development" games and yes I can be a pyro in those games. :P

Yes... whiskey as a painkiller and later gasoline as a molotov. Seriosly every time I see an empty whiskey bottle I think "MOLOTOV!".

Just a friendly suggestion from a survivor.

I dont know if I'm a noob or just too honest but the concept of alt + F4 is way alien to me. Sure, I had wounded bandits disappear on me before, but I did not know it was a problem until I joined the forum. -
Oh yeah, raining zombies is great.

Why people complain so much about killing?
lugaru replied to Max Railgrave's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Anyone ever watch Beetle Juice? I picture the afterlife waiting room... one guy covered in zombie bites, one guy with half his head blown off, one guy with broken limbs and all pale... and after the new patch a guy with a bear trap on his head. -
Weird how the game and Players turn you.....

I'm friendly... so much that I've healed 2 strangers within an hour once. But... I would be bored without bandits. I think the balance is about right, at this time, between friendlies, bandits and paranoid survivors. If anything I think people have gotten a little more open to yelling/typing friendly, which is nice, I dont want every encounter to end in blood. -
I find it interesting that you mention "The Road". The whole novel, the guys kid keeps asking "are those guys good guys?" and "hwo do we know if we are the good guys?" I've had that experience in DayZ... for example seeing a sniper on a rooftop, taking him out with an axe and realizing he had zero ammo. I was not quite sure how "heroic" I was after that... Likewise I'm sure some of my fights have involved both me and the guy shooting at me thinking we are bandits.

I'm a survivor, and I dont really hate bandits since I dont run into them too often and they often fail. It feels just about right. That said having somebody rob me would be a new experience... infuriating of course but it would make a better story. -
You know I'm more interested in a "log out" penalty than a "log in" penalty. Even 5 seconds before loging out means you are better off hiding and logging out if you think you are in danger, and once you are in a firefight standing motionless for 5 seconds will not save you. Same goes for being in a building with zombies walking towards you. The only major downside I can think of is that you cant quickly jump out during a hack attack, but that is really it.

If the lee is common and kills players in one shot, that is the game. That said I think I killed somebody the other day with a shot in the foot... <_<

I do love the idea of cigarettes as currency... and the idea of sniping at a red glow in the night. Other than that I have been both a smoker and a non smoker and I'm not sure if smoking has any "bonus" advantages, it would have to be a legitimately fictional and gamey effect like "reduce hunger rate for a minute" or something.

Hi there! I've been enjoying the mod for a couple of months now and just wanted to drop in a few quick suggestions. Oddly enough for an alpha I dont have much to complain about, but some small details would rock. Tweaks Villages have too many zombies: Even with an organized team, I found that the many scattered villages pose more risk than reward. In Elektro and Cherno I can avoid zombies easily and pile on loot, with a minor chance of getting shot in the face. Villages though... wow. I find them more overpopulated than military bases, airfields, big cities and all the other famous "big reward" areas. A few less zombies would be nice, and just to not sound like a whinner move them to the other high reward areas. 5 second log out delay: Probably the most suggested feature but I did not see it... maybe I was looking wrong. Either way I'm a carebear but those few times I yell "friendly" and the guy shoots anyway, I want him to pay for his agression. At least 4 times I've wounded a bandit who then left the game... or worse... one time a guy left when I cornered him and rejoined to shoot me in the back. Maybe this would be awful for most players, but I used to play "muds" (basically fancy chat rooms) and early mmo's back in the day and waiting to log out made things tense. New Content Crowdsourced models: Have you thought of opening up the model design process to the 100,000k + DayZ fans? I think they could help design versions of buildings with interiors and more skins for the male and female survivor. I think it would be fun if there where 50+ skins... that way you can really tell friend from foe apart since the odds of 2 identical players would be greately reduced. Radio Areas: Getting close to trees allows you to chop wood... how about getting close to antenas allowing you to access global chat? No need for a "walkie talkie" item (maybe in the future) but it would be a great way to recruit members. Sure, trolls would probably stand there blasting pop music, but that would lead to expeditions to quiet them. :P
-
Thanks... I think the crowd sourcing part would really make the content grow quickly... of course the first character model rocket would get in the mail would be "nude survivor" or "survivor with pot leaf t shirt" but after that there would probably be some useful contributions. Another bit of content I would love to see is a messaging system... like dropping notes or something... I'm sure grafiti would be too much work.

Three Noobs Looking for Server With Manners
lugaru replied to Johnny Knuckles's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Me and 3 friends play the game... usually we choose servers with low population (10 - 20 players) when we don't want to be disturbed and we have not had much trouble. No matter what server you are on, there will be bandits (this game will never be trustable) but that reduces the odds significantly. Maybe one day they will make a "grownup" server... and it will get trolled heavily :P -
Hey, quick question... has anyone else seen that message? So on sunday afternoon we where on US 263 and got into a firefight in Cherno... our friend Tom got crazy lucky... capped 3 players in the supermaket using just a revolver (I missed the action, I was on a rooftop with a lee in case things got ugly). Well, they came back like 10 minutes later, they capped Tom but me and Jon killed them again. I just remember one username... but I dont know if this is related so I dont want to mention him yet. Well we eventually left town (they where going to keep re spawning and coming after us) and once out of cherno we got the following messages flash on our screens: Somali Pirates rule the air and the sea After like 30 seconds... Blah blah blah (I dont remember) darkness :'( (some cryptic message with a sad face) Then the screen glitched, and we all logged out. I logged in this morning and all my gear was intact, hopefully my friends too (they have not logged it). Anyone seen a "somali pirate" attack? I dont know if is related to the crew we wiped out twice (which was lucky, all 3 of us are pretty noobish) or if it was a random hacking incident.

Honestly I think it is healthier than how neurotic I get about shooting players. I felt bad for a while after axing a sniper who turned out to have no ammo and was just lying on a roof (getting a tan?). The other day I shoot near a guys feet who typed "friendly, just respanwed" and for half an hour I was thinking "aww man, I just almost killed a freshly spanwed guy". I think bandits are evil, but at least they are less stressed than I am.

New Player - I just hit the mother-load but I'm really low on blood. Suggestions?
lugaru replied to xPandaHunterx's topic in New Player Discussion
I'm a carebear who loves saving injured players... honestly sometimes when you hit the motherload you just need to put it on the line. Call for help. If somebody helps you, both of you will get a happy feeling out of it. If the person shoots you... well... you will probably hit another big cache of loot (dead body, good scouting trip, winning a gun battle) again the same day. I have seen my fortunes come and go a few times a week (often dying for being too friendly, lol). -
I play a lot of Alpha games and mods and while some glitches will make me yell at the monitor, overall it is a super playable alpha. I would put it up there with early minecraft or project zomboid in terms of "not done but who cares". What is better, I consider it part of a category of "never done" games. There will always be bugs, but there will always be new cool features you dont have to pay for.
