  1. I'm a survivor but friendly to the concept of bandits, just the other side of the coin. We have different jobs, same office. Kind of like Wile E. Coyote and the sheep dog. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yZKvuSYIykY So I'm wondering... how is the nerf hurting buisness? I got into a firefight with one today... that he should have won. Actually she, as in female skin, but you never know. Either way I climbed up a hill and saw a guy... I said friendly and he opened up with an akm on me. Down and unconcius... normally dead but with the nerf I had enough blood to survive and cap him with my revolver until he went down. We both bandaged ourselves, because it was a gentlemanly duel, and proceded to fire some more. I got him with the Lee Enfield, (switched) and after like 2 or 3 shots (!) it was over. So what did I learn? The element of surprise is somewhat gone (shoot while somebody asks friendly does not work as well anymore) and firefights now last 10 minutes. Moral of the story? Bandits win...   2. Actually I'm not sure which AK it was, but I found an AKM in cherno after respawning so I have that one in my brain right now. But you are right, any bandits with proper sniper weapons are probably mostly unchanged.

    About the Weapon Damages

    I think if they take the nerfed values and add 50% it will be perfect... for the LEE to hurt but not be an auto kill and all other weapons be very painful but not auto lethal. That said I got into a gunfight today and it lasted way too long, like something out of an early John Wu movie.
  4. Got in a fight today... it took 10 minutes for me to win. I got capped with an ak... I should have died but lived, "woke up" and put like 6 revolver shots in the bandit. We both bandaged, and fought crippled form the ground. I won with my Lee Enfield but it still took at least 2 if not 3 lee shots (my opponent just had bad aim after getting shot).

  6. Yes and no... as you know there is a whole class of bandits who just hunt for sport. Also, due to human nature, once you have a group you get tribal and mistrusting of others. For example when I play solo, I'm super friendly... but with my usual team of 3 we have a member who will always push hard to eliminate all threats. I kind of have to beg to not gun down the guys who are obviously unarmed (hatchet or less). So In order... Supplies (desperate) Safetey (paranoid) Sport (douchebaggy... although these guys keep us normal players on our toes and are a game "feature").

So I was looking at the ingame models on the armaholic site and between the workers, rockers, functionaries, housewives, secretaries, individual characters and other skins I think we could get some real player diversity going on. I dont mod for arma so I dont know if every unit can run around, shoot, throw objects and peform the other required actions. And if allowed... it would be awesome to spawn with random clothing besides the usual. Advantages: More visual diversity, making it easier to recognize different players. A greater incentive to find cammo. More immersion, since you look more like a civilian caught in the apocalypse and less like a survivalist or military personnel. Better screenshots! Any thoughts?
  8. I would be surprised if they gave us more choice at startup beyond "male and female" but it would be interesting. I would a ssume all bandits would be dressed as priests and doctors though.

    mega bloom

    At some point, after one of the patches, I noticed that my bloom effects got pretty out there. Basically rather than a second for my eyes to adjust, the game feels like it is often transitioning from very bright to very dark as I pass buildings or change the direction I'm looking in. Is there an effective way to turn down the bloom a little so I get mroe consistent lighting?
  10. Yeah, super bright skins would be completely unfair (sniper bait) but overal I think there are a lot of nice skins that could qualify. In particular I love a lot of the privateers, workers and such. Also how awesome would a player look in a suit and tie?

    Female characters.

    I like having a female character in my crew because it gives me instant recognition as to who that is. That said on some level I have some chivalry instinct... not long ago I hooked up with a big group of strangers and I saw a female character on the ground, I'm immediately like "hey, need morphene?" before offering any of the male characters medical help.
  13. I'm a noob in this regard, are we allowed to edit to change the face and glasses? I would love to do this to get some other features... so me and my team mates can tell each other apart. This would not flag us as hackers, would it?
  14. With me so far: Revolver: talk about a surprise... I taught my self to not bother with head shots and when a zombie kept coming today I thought it was server lag. Auto Shotgun: I'm not a gun guy so I forget the name... took more than 1 slug so I dropped it. Lee: 1 shot kill, but that is to the chest or head. Did not shoot anyone in the leg to test since I was not sure if I was just on a server with bugs or something. If this is the actual patch... wow, brutal.

    zombie health

    I had the same problem today... revolver was doing Marakov damage. I did not die... but basically spent all my ammo. It was good headshot practice though. I was going to post a bug but I did not note what server it was on, and I would like to assume it was server based. Also they survived a shotgun blast, but my lee was doing 1 hit kills as it should.
  16. Honestly the axe is my favorite thing that has happened in recent patches. That said I too had a guilty axe murder. I was in one of the buildings I call 'schools' (gray, 3 stories, lots of small rooms) and I see a guy crowching on the 2nd floor ledge with a lee. I think "bandit sniper" so I sneak up and axe him... while he bled I ran around to the other side and axed him again before he could shoot. I felt like a champion... then I see he had absolutely zero ammo for this lee and pistol. No clue why he was up there in a "I'm waiting all day long to snipe somebody" position but it was a murder, not a bandit kill.
  17. I would love a large western urban map... you know, some nice "New York" or "London" analogue. I dont know of any mod makers have made large urban maps. All those buildings would make the game very vertical which would be a snipers paradise.

    Be careful who you shoot

    The other day we capped 3 players at the market... after like 15 minutes of knowing about them. If your first reaction is "shoot" when they have not seen you yet, things may end poorly for your crew. If you stalk, flank and maybe even initiate dialog (I rather trade than kill) well by then you know exactly who they are and what they are capable of.

    Skins Suggestion - Combat Medic

    I have thought about this too and yeah, a bandit can go out of his way to become a doctor... but free will is what balances everything in this game. That said I already get shot on sight by bandits, so anything to keep regular survivors from instantly shooting would help. I love "playing doctor" (man that sounds dirty) and have healed a few strangers... even when playing solo (everything is scarier when you dont have bodyguards).

    Spawn next to friends???

    I agree and disagree... of course. Meeting up with your friends can be a massive pain, but spawning as a group is potentially destabilizing. Yeah, I hate taking 5 to 10 minutes to meet up, but the random spawn point keeps the game from becoming a complete deathmatch.

    A journal?

    An auto logger would be great, especially for posting your story later. 3:26 "Picked up Lee enfield" and you can elaborate on your own like "I found it in a supermarket, my heart betting, is this a trap?" 3:28 "shot player" and you can add "I think it was an ambush, but they made a mistake in giving me a rifle"

    Dog Tags

    And that moment when you take somebody out... and find like 40 id's on them... and realize you just took out a prolific bandit. That would be priceless.

    Whiskey!

    I like the idea of a "drunk" state for a minute where you are immune to crippled, cold and thirst... and then it all comes crashing back a minute later. Maybe you could inflict the "in pain" camera shake if blur is not an option.

    Molotov Cocktails

    I just did a search for the word "Molotov" and I was shocked not to get any hits. Every time I see an empty whiskey bottle and a petrol station all I can think is "he put those in the game to add molotov cocktails later". I hope rocket has at least given these some thought, I'll tell you they are a highlight in Project Zomboid, another indy alpha zombie survival game I love. Why? They are the ultimate risk/reward weapon. Yes, they can kill a LOT of zeds, they can also destroy property, trap you with a flaming wall and burn you to death if you are not careful (which has happened to me in Project Zomboid). So what would it do? Lands and makes a 9 square grid of fire, with the center being the landing spot. This is a high damage area that can set players/zeds on fire (probably not in core arma. It will spread a little, randomly, and eventually go out. Because can you think of anything prettier than 5 or 6 burning zombies running in the night? It is the stuff of haiku.
