So on Saturday I went to my friends house. I jumped into my steam account on his computer and was able to pull up my character and he used his laptop. Well I'm back home and fine but he is getting "CD key is in use". I was wondering if anyone knows how to fix this or what needs to be done for him to play on his desktop again.

Actually he was finally able to get into his character, I guess it was due to a setting I put into DayZ Commander. I'll let you know in a minute if I can log in with no probs, but I should be fine. edit: and I'm myself... I guess if this ever happens to people, it was due to a "overwrite steam files" thing I did in commander, which is the only way I got my character to show up at his house.

Good job. I tossed one by accident instead of shooting... thank god I was solo that day or I could have wiped out my friends.

Yeah, I hate the 1 punch knockout. "Me and my axe cannot be stopped... and... I'm unconcius at 8900 blood... huh". Best way to avoid this? Remember that you dont get xp, gold or anything else for killing zombies. Usually if you can go a while without killing a single one, you are being smart. Also I'm shocked to hear a player is starving a lot, I've never succesfully starved... I either die way before that of unnatural causes or find a can of something. A piece of advice: check outhouses. Sounds gross but most players dont check them and they will often have a can of beans or sardines... sounds gross but at least you dont have to eat outhouse beans in real life.

You must have somehow lost the ammo, weird. (I dont know how the hatchet works but often when dropped I see ammo next to it)

I think I had something like that happen before... moved it to belt and back to weapon and I was fine... give that a try and let me know if it works.

Cant wait till you log back in... "Hey, you, the guy with the AKM... do you mind grabbing some change from my pocket and getting some stuff for me from the store? I could really use a soda..."

People would post "why cant I pick my arrow back up?" In the suggestion thread but honestly... I would be happy to never retrieve an arrow again. Those things are an impossible pixel hunt sometimes, just as bad as removing barbed wire, lol.

Nice, now we need an alt + F4 tutorial for when players miss their sniping shot and decide to disapear before getting shot back at.

I had a silent gun once (found it on a dead player, long story) and they are very different... silent gun sucks at body shots but you can fire a bit... so you could hypothetically drop a lot of head shots in a few seconds. Crossbow is great but super unreliable and takes forever to reload, even if you had stacks instead of singles. If I got in a pvp situation where we both are aware of each other, I would choose the pistol just so I could shoot more and hopefully disable or kill after finding where my shots are hitting.

The game is really good about using any mike... for a while I was just yelling at my webcam (it has a built in mike) until I dug up my nice USB headset. If you play with friends I suggest a steam chat... that way you can communicate silently but also in game by hitting the chat button.

I agree, especially if picking up a single bolt adds it to your quiver. The crossbow is not great, but it deserves to be improved.

Yup... I was thinking about that... that they should make each bolt into a "magazine" or create a new "quiver" item... maybe you can select single bolts and add that back into your magazine or quiver. It is a mess, but I think the crossbow is good enough that it deserves fixing.

Also the other day I had a broken leg and could not respawn. Fortunately my friend had the other best medicine other than morphene... a shotgun.

I had that message while logging into a server... I hit escape before I was done logging in.

My first time? Shot a zombie in the head as soon as I found it. I spent an hour trying to replicate that awesomeness. Best one? Crawling prone, zombie across the street... I MISS AND WANT TO CRY BECAUSE I'LL NEVER FIND THE BOLT IN THE GRASS. Zombie keeps walking, ignoring my terrible sadness.

It is not bad to have a team member WITH a crossbow, but I would be afraid of carrying it solo. Sure, axe might be better for silent takedowns but that said the crossbow was great for example when we went into a building and a crawler was blocking the exit... snipe, retrieve, move on, no noise. Other than that there are many types of players, but mostly they fall into the "fun" or "win" style. I think you share enjoying the game as a fun thing... many players would probably say "if you are using anything EXCEPT for this sniper rifle you are a noob" but I say "DUUUUDE I just shot a zed in the head with a bolt! Awesome!".

The visual glitches made me feel like an old man, having to explain to a lot of people what the term "artifacting" meant. Good to see it fixed this week.

Totally made my day, used the comic to explain teh game to the girl I'm dating. "You can be really careful, or really reckless, and both types of players make the game more interesting for each other"

Yeah, the firs time I got shot for trying to be friendly, I was angry. Now... I get a laugh out of it.

I would go with one of the super scary images from the original thread, rather than the slender man render from the upcoming game (which I'm not too fond of).

I had this happen a week ago or so... I was playing solo and was in Cherno, in the building I like to call "the school" which has a nice view of the supermarket. Well I hear two players talking, but I cant quite make out what they are saying. All of a sudden they both point their weapons in my direction, so I take a few quick shots with my revolver and run off. Eventually I made my way into the market and discover 3 guys... we exchange some quick supplies (blood, ammo, etc) and one says "keep your head down, there is a bandit out there taking shots at us". I decided not to tell them that was me. Another quicky: I was exploring the hospital in Elektro. I randomly hit the "look behind you" keys from time to time and I barely see a guy with a rifle... but his round made a shower of sparks on a tank trap that was right next to me (probably blocked the shot). I start yelling "friendly" while running knowing that it does not make a difference, the guy is going to kill me. I guess my voice attracted another surviver who came after me with a hatchet, swinging for a kill. I yell "run!" and he keeps trying, until the sniper takes HIM out. That gave me enough time to run off, giggling to myself the whole way. It felt like a nature documentary... "one fish tries to eat another fish, gets devoured by shark".

I had a little chicken related scare last night... when I'm in a group I love yelling "hey chicken, I'm friendly" to get a laugh from the other players. Well I did that last night and heard a muffled yell back (could not understand it) that was NOT a member of my group... oh man we ran!

Well it would be hilarious if zombies "ignore" the fire, dying and doing damage to everything around them while they are covered in fire particle effects. "I was being chased by zombies, now I'm being chased by flaming zombies... great".

I would also like being able to make them near fuel locations much like you can get water near wells. Maybe "click on bottle near fuel source, you get a petrol bottle" "click on petrol bottle, adds molotov, if you dont have bandage, says "you must have bandage in inventory"
