Fuck. I remember hunting down murderers on the Bounty Boards. So much fun. Hiring a tracker... getting a group together.. ending up at some bad areas like Fire Isle. Thing is, in UO.. most of the time you were only in danger if you were in KNOWN BAD AREAS. Much like real life... certain places are BAD AND YOU COULD DIE. It's the exact same in DayZ... some areas are more dangerous than others... I loved being hired to wipe out PKers in UO.. and band together to stop them from hurting the noobs. At one point, I was a PKer myself just to get a feel of it... then I was a strict Pker of Pkers... Rocket, don't cater to the whiners. They just can't cut it. I've personally banded with a group myself... and rarely run anywhere without at least 1 other person with me. You can play as a loner sure, but you MUST BE A TOTAL BAD ASS. And I feel like I'm damn good but not even close to that level yet. Anyone else... should have at least 1 buddy with them. And they MUST BE CAREFUL AS FUCK in Cherno or Electro.. or NW Airfield. -

I LOVE THIS POST!!!!!!!!!!!!! Especially because you name dropped fucking Ultima. Man UO was amazing. What people did back then was hire more powerful players to escort them to where they wanted to go. It created a great system. Also the wanted boards for known murderers? all of this made it so there was a whole new... immersion and....world of the game you could enter and play. not this stupid ass guided... predetermined drive-thru WoW bullshit -
Everyone says zombies aren't as dangerous etc etc.. and what will fix this? What will make players want to work together more? I thought of a relatively simple solution: Make Zed grab you/bite you. While grabbed you cannot move. You can only attempt to push/shoot/whatever the zombie that has a hold of you. (this can be done and implemented however you want) OR you can make it so only another player can get the zed off you (i dislike this because it does encourage teamwork however not everyone wants to play with others) In the end while you're grabbed.. other zed can swarm you and you get mobbed and will die basicaly. make the zed eat you. Implement this grabbing idea so that it doesnt happen 100% of the time.. make them grab at you like 50% or 60% so that it is a definite threat (especially when in a city with more than 1 zed) but its not a death sentence. make them do a lunge grabbing at you.. and now you cannot move until you get them off you. THERE. Zombies are far more dangerous now.

Do you know how shit works? Programming is a process... you are never ever complete. Fixing the "bugs" in the AI now could just be in vain if a feature is added into the code later that can make it break. It's all about adding/taking away... fitting things together until it does work. Adding new features isn't necessarily bad if they can fit it in and get it to work with the current AI and flesh out bugs as it goes. There are many different approaches and ideologies to programming... this is one of them.. and a common one nowadays.

One thing I particularly love about this mod, is that you cannot see who is who via the name... and its hard to see people. it's not like a big ass name pops above your head giving away your position. THIS IS AMAZING, HOWEVER... When you ARE in a group and want to differentiate your friend from someone else, it's pretty fucking hard. Other than talking you don't know. People say this is realistic but I argue otherwise.. In real life you will know who your friends are... because... well you've seen them, You've seen their face.. you know who they are... the way this could be represented is by a group option. You can form a group and then and only then will the name show up above the persons head. You can also make this radius effected.. so you have to be within a certain distance (preferably close) to see it. Otherwise from a distance it won't work. I just feel like this is the best way to implement something that is both realistic and also works to make it so it's not inconvenient as fuck to know who is who. Also ... I feel this wouldn't be TOO difficult to put into the game. A menu system really... just like anything else.

Now, hear me out before you do a witch-hunt for the melee. Melee MUST be implemented. But here's the thing. Don't implement it in such a way that it's really effective in any situation other than killing maybe one zombies by itself. Arguments: 1) Currently if you run out of ammo, there is NOTHING you can do. Even against one zombie. This is supposed to be semi-realistic... you should be able to melee, and at least have a CHANCE to defend yourself against one zed. 2) Sneaking into towns.. when you have to kill you have to kill. But make it so you can at least silently kill a zed... maybe a single one with a surprise attack. As of right now wtihout ammo, you're just running forever. They don't stop. So it gets semi-rediculuis... almsot laughable. Implementation: Make melee kind of suck. In reality it would anyhow, against a thrashhing thing coming at your throat. In real life ap erson can only swing an axe so fast and effectively.. really, it's either you hit the first time or you're getting mauled. Make it slow, and make it basically like a perfect hit chance to get it. If you hit the perfect spot.. you win, Zed's dead baby. If not, then you're getting mauled. And because they have quicker attacks.. and if there were more than one, it's game over. Melee should be in the game.. it just should be done correctly so it doesn't become a bunch of samurais wandering around. In reality, this is a VERY easy implementation providing the animations and such can be done. In real life, if you think about it, a lot of items melee wise would be pretty useless against a fast moving zombie. So just think of it like that and make it like that. Machete's do little damage but if you're lucky you can get it. Axe's are slow.. sledgehammers are slow.. bats would be decent enough to kill maybe 2 if you're lucky but when you swing one way you always have to bring the bat back up and by that time you're getting swarmed. Anyhow... for number 2... maybe it so zombies can eat/grab you.. make also your death similar to this I havent died a lot so maybe it IS like that. But if my death was like that.. that's what I'm looking for. I want to completely fear it. Dismemberment might be impossible due to engine constraints but... make it violent. Make me NOT want to die more than I already dont want to die (something you guys already do DAMN well) really, i love this fucking mod. It's my favorite game ... period. I'm not even kidding. For number 3.. not sure how possible it is it's just most buildings are just like static... it'd be cool if you could go into more of them. Thats all.

I don't know. I like the panic sounds when I'm running for my life. They just need to kick in at the right time. If I have 15 zombies chasing me and I'm hurt and hauling ass.. i absolutely LOVE THE PANIC SOUNDS. But if I'm just freaking out for no reason, it's dumb I think it's just a balance. -
I don't know about everyone but I know I had to be a little different when I installed this. If this is a repeat you guys can delete it but I think anything could help. Context: I had bought Arma II and Arma II OA, which is the CO package off amazon and it is a digital copy. Steps: 1. Install Arma II to the default path. Patch Arma II to 1.11 or whatever. Be sure to install BattleEye. 2. Install Arma II OA. Here is the situation with MY digital copy and I'm sure someone else might have the same. it attempts to install this into the same folder as your Arma II original. What you do is make a new folder in the Bohemia Interactive Folder.. such that you have two folders: MAIN FOLDER: C:\Program Files\Bohemia Interactive SUB-PATHS: C:\Program Files\Bohemia Interactive\ArmA 2 C:\Program Files\Bohemia Interactive\ArmA 2 Operation Arrowhead Now once this is installed MAKE SURE YOU INSTALL BATTLEEYE again for Operation Arrowhead. 3. Patch these now to 1.60. Patch is available online. 4. Now download the mod files. I simply downloaded them to my desktop. 5. Here's where things got weird, some reason when I opened the mod files and extracted them direct there were problems so this is what I had to do. -After downloading the mod files to my desktop I extracted all the files to my desktop. -Made a folder named "@DayZ" in C:\Program Files\Bohemia Interactive\ArmA 2 Operation Arrowhead -Made a folder named "AddOns: in @DayZ. -I took all the extracted file from my desktop and moved them into this AddOns folder. 6. Now you should be set up to play but what happened to me is I had to log in one time to click expansions and enable @DayZ.. then I had to login a second time to actually enable DayZ again.. because the first time it simply opened the @DayZ folder. Once I did all this I finally got into a server. I hope this helps someone else. If not you mods can erase it if you find it dangerous. But I followed quite a few guides on here and combined them into this.

Can't play. I bought my games off Amazon. Arma the CO pack. and most of the guides on here are only if you got it off steam. the retail guides dont work for me. my filesystem for arma gets all screwy and fucked up and I dont know which addons folder to use (there's like 18 of them) my operations arrowhead or whatever .. not sure where it belongs in the filesystem... blah... horrible day on top of it all... waaah kinda just annoyed. but I really wanna play this mod

Well did all that. Done it like 50x lol. I dunno what is wrong but when I try to join a server it just says "Connection Failed" after a few seconds. I did exactly what every installation instruction has said.

Monthly fee + purchase Studio kick starter dedicated team... i dont mind paying monthly for an amazing ass game. but it needs to have a dedicated team. p.s. Wow blows.
