Didn't Gotcha try this already, resulting in hackers teleporting other players to auto kick/ban them? Never mind the fact that those tools rely on the logs showing location data in order to work. In any case, I doubt any of that will be necessary in the standalone as those sort of cheats can be eliminated. -

Any answers you get would be pure speculation, closed testing is about to begin and the release date would be entirely dependent on the outcome of that testing. -
It will use the version you have installed, if you are using a newer version then DZC has added then it will say you are out of date but you can just ignore that.

In the mod, zombies spawn when a player is within 200m of a town, building etc, thus giving away the location of any players within that radius. If I am sitting on a hill 300m away from a town and suddenly zombies start spawning I know someone has just arrived even if I haven't spotted them.

I think you missed my point, lowering settings would have no effect as render distance would be the same (reasonably long range) for everyone, they would just get ugly looking grass/vegetation. -

Your quoting someone from over six months ago, the plan has changed a number of times since then as the mod exploded in popularity, they aren't planning on making it a mod for ArmA 3 anymore and instead are going standalone, although someone from the community might do something similar for ArmA 3 which would be great. -
Yes, it's designed specifically so nobody can obtain your CD Key by having your GUID.

I don't know. Rendering vegetation distance based on graphical settings doesn't work since people will use lower settings so they aren't disadvantaged. Simple solution would be to offer low-quality versions of grass/vegetation under low graphical settings and better looking ones under high but have them both offer similar cover and render at a longer range then we have currently, but as long as developers are aware of the advantage and do something to balance it, I'm sure there's a lot of ways to go about it. -
Editing the cfg files should work, the one he needs to change could be under the 'ArmA 2' or 'ArmA 2 Other Profiles' folders depending on whether he made a new profile or not. Alternatively he could either delete those files so they are recreated or create a new profile on the main ArmA menu.

The flashight doesn't actually bounce around if you are slow walking. (Hold shift) -Direct Chat (40/80m text/voice range) -Group (Nothing) -Vehicle (Only to players in your vehicle or right next to it) -Side (Global to everyone in the server) DayZCommander relies on the offset in the server title (+6GMT etc) and converts that into a readable format. If the server has the wrong offset in their server name it will be incorrect. There is no other way of obtaining that information as it's not sent from the server.

Download DayZCommander Click Install/Update on DayZCommander for DayZ/ArmA and any additional maps you want to play. Join a server. -

Well for one to identify and ban hackers. I doubt that sort of information will be necessary in the standalone though but it is in the mod. -
