    DayZ Standalone Discussion

Well technical testing has already started, it will ultimately depend on the results of those tests. A few months possibly but I think your prediction of it not being released this year are way off.

Yes, lots. Technical test will have very few though.

Admin Banned from US2419 | Appeal

There is no longer an active support team for the mod. Rocket turned this over to be run by the community some time ago. This also means that more and more parts of DayZ have become less strict and many server rules are no longer enforced. We have even considered removing the server reporting section entirely. Some people aren't happy with this and that's understandable, it probably could have been handled better but that is the reality of the situation and complaining about it isn't going to change anything. I hope you understand. Time is simply being spent elsewhere. To be clear the rules haven't been "thrown out the window" but the reality is there is very little if any support for the mod anymore and it's been this way for some time now. I'm just stating the obvious. The system worked when the mod was relatively small but is impractical nowadays and it's unreasonable to expect the support volunteers on a free mod to do so indefinitely. Also please note, forum team members are only responsible for the forum. We have no control over servers or admins and can't enforce server rules or blacklist servers. Fraggle was really going out of his way to try and find a solution for you but it's not looking like he should have even bothered to be honest.

    Dismemberment?

  5. The mod was handed over to the community months ago, we have had a number of patches since then and another patch is about to be released :/
  6. It's an automated server admin kick/ban for having CE open. Gamehack #xxx bans are done through BEC (Battleye Extended Controls), a server admin tool. BEC is not affiliated with Battleye whatsoever and these bans can be lifted by the server admin. See http://ibattle.org for more information.
  7. The recommendation is to migrate over to private hives. With Standalone getting closer to completion the mod ticket system is being worked on less and less. Hive submissions are very slow due to limited time spent on this. Consider current hive servers a sort of gentlemen/ladies club. We may approve some servers, but not often. This is simply due to our time is spent elsewhere atm Hope you can understand.

    Global Ban

It's a permanent ban. You're done. Don't cheat next time.

Suddenly i can teleport in servers 0___0

What you are describing is pretty much impossible (scripters can't do something to your client that follows you across servers), so the only logical explanations are: - One of your friends is cheating, and injecting this on all players on each server you join together - You happened to only join servers that have had someone inject this script on everyone - You are cheating yourself.
  10. Yep. Rocket mentioned in the livestream that there are still some lighting problems, specifically the sky being a bit blue at the moment and that they have a few more things planned like looking at pulling some of ArmA III's work with ambient lighting across.
  11. There is a poll running on Reddit to see what ideas people want to see developed the most, there are about 150 options and you can pick 5, you can vote for the same item 5 times or vote for 5 different items. The last one had some interesting results and Rocket is following the results of this one closely. Poll has been updated with a new one. https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/viewform?formkey=dF9oMU81Ulh0NERiSUxzSWNNREQyYVE6MQ#gid=0

    Suggestion/Feature/Idea Poll

  13. Yes, I'm curious if aiming down the sights will still be possible while in third person mode (like it is in the mod, simply by right clicking), or if you will have to change to first person mode first (via a menu) and then aim down sights.
  14. Well it sounds like the crosshair has been removed entirely. I'm interested in seeing if you can still aim down the sights while in third person mode though or if it will force you to either fire from the hip (with no crosshair) or change to first person via the menu so you can aim down the sights. I like that idea in theory but could see it becoming really frustrating having to switch via the menu each time so it could be too much.

    Memory hacking in Standalone

Rocket touched on it a bit in the latest livestream/interview. Q: How will the new engine prevent cheating? A: The single biggest difference between standalone and the mod, is that in the mod, the way ArmA II works is it sends all updates to everyone and individual clients can control their world. In the standalone you only receive updates for objects that are near you and the server decides everything so unless you hack the server, the impact of whatever hacking or any of that is limited. That doesn't mean people can't hack but it does fundamentally change what effect hacks can have. It's a hard one to talk about because people will assume what you are saying is hacking is gone and I don't think it will ever be gone entirely, in a sense the mod was kind of a hack but I think it's drastically going to remove the impact of hacking and that's the key. This seems like the best approach to things like 'memory hacking' to me, rather then trying to prevent the memory from being read you just don't send information to the client until it's needed so there is limited information that can be read.

Third person vs First person view

I agree, it really depends if you can aim down sights in third person though (like you can in the mod), it could very well force you to either use third person and fire from the hip with no crosshair or go into the menu and change to first so you can aim down the sights. That might be a bit too annoying though.

Third person vs First person view

Rockets compromise looks to be that changing from first to third person will be done via the menu instead of a hotkey and given the crosshair is likely being removed, this is going to make shooting in third person a bit more difficult and hopefully balance the two a little more. I'm curious if we will actually be able to aim down sights while in third person mode or if that would be too frustrating if it's removed
