I'm not one that criticize's early access games but...
SmashT replied to azgoodaz's topic in General Discussion
A few points. When DayZ started - the devs took the source from the existing RV Engine - Over the last many months, extensive clean up, new functionality, and so forth has been created for that engine - while at the same time, vast amounts of it were removed, or rewritten entirely. The changes spoken of entail major leaps forward in that work, with those changes and the many more that will come through out development - we have begun to approach the point in which DayZ's engine is so no longer recognizable as RV, and because of that - and the massive work to come, it is now known by its own name, Enfusion. This will come in a modular fashion over time, DayZ won't just suddenly switch to a different engine overnight. For example: AI, pathfinding, animation system, controls, interactions system, inventory system, physics, vehicles, sound system, low level scripting language, game editor, renderer, particle system, user interface, statistics, database handling, persistence, central economy and so. Basically nearly every part of the engine is undergoing refactoring, is merged in from one of the previous engines or is written from scratch. Some of the modules have timelines of 8-16months. And only than you start bringing in the rest. The developers have recently started doing focused discussions on a variety of topics on these forums if you wish to ask more in-depth questions related to those topics. You can't throw artists and designers at a programming issues (since you claim to be "in-game development" yourself , I'm surprised I have to explain this to you), different people are working on different things at the same time, doing what they are good at. It could take months for some core functionality to be completed by a programmer before it can be handed off to a designer, in the mean time they have people working on other stuff while they wait for that core functionality to be completed. Things aren't held back so they can be released in order of priority. If something is completed it is put in the game. Often the high priority tasks can take longer than the lower priority ones. The game isn't being held back so that artists can make more clothes etc. All of the guys here are in this industry for a long time. And have insane backgrounds with passion for the game. They are not creating a port of the mod, they are making a DayZ that is not plagued by tech or limitations. They are making a game you wished for. All your support just made it possible. They want it more than anyone.- 15 replies

Cannot switch back to Stable from Experimental.
SmashT replied to GregzTheGreat's topic in Troubleshooting
The dropdown menu will be disabled if your game is running. -
The photo/screenshot is by a streamer/youtuber KD Wolf I wouldn't read too much into this one.

monitor wont show game just keeps saying input not support
SmashT replied to PykettK's topic in Troubleshooting
The game is probably set at a resolution your display doesn't support. When you launch the game can you press alt+enter to go into windowed mode, alternatively add -window to your DayZ launch parameters, Right click DayZ on steam > Properties > Set Launch Options -window If that works you can then configure the settings to fit your resolution. Alternatively, you can manually set the resolution in the config file located at C:\Users\SmashT\Documents\DayZ\DayZ.cfg You will need to change the values of Resolution_W, Resolution_H, Render_W and Render_H to match your own display settings: Resolution_W=2560;Resolution_H=1080;Render_W=2560;Render_H=1080;- 1 reply

multiple accounts from one PC = GUID chaos
SmashT replied to Noble Savage's topic in Troubleshooting
You can probably also change the location of your DayZ profiles to unique directories on each of your steam accounts to save on the confusion when you launch the game (assuming the menu screen character data is stored there), you'll have to configure your settings again the first time or copy paste your old profiles to the new directory location. Example below: Right click DayZ on your account > Properties > Set Launch Options -profiles=C:\NobleSavage -name=Noble Savage -
Once Vehicles become persistent.. a discussion
SmashT replied to Irish.'s topic in General Discussion
If you are using Chrome you can just right click > paste as plain text, other browsers might have something similar. Alternatively you can paste it into notepad first, then copy from notepad and paste it here. -
Joe is on Skype with the devs and us, was part of the pre-alpha testers group, he also designed the dayzmod.com website and has done a number of other UI concepts for DayZ and designs for the mod over the years, don't worry they have seen a lot of his concepts. http://joe-horan.com/?s=DayZ

"Hive" column in the server browser, also the "mode" column to determine if it's on first or third person database.

Yep. There was another topic on Steam earlier with Avast issues so that may be related. http://steamcommunity.com/app/221100/discussions/0/627456486358997857/ Open Avast, (can't remember the avast interface so you will have to look, I think it's under settings > antivirus > exclusions) go through the options until you find the "add exception" or similar, open that select your dayz exec and add it to the exception list. Right click DayZ in steam > Local files and choose verify intergrity.

Not that then, I tried both experimental and stable and had no issues. Are you running any specific anti-virus software? Perhaps there was a BattlEye update and your process has been blocked?
-
I'm seeing a decent number of people experiencing the same issue in the last hour or so, I have no issues but have downloads paused atm, was there a DayZ update that downloaded for you? Can you tell me your DayZ build number, Right click on DayZ > Properties > Local Files (written down the bottom) I'm on 478360 and don't have an issue.

How/Where can i get a private 2 slot DayZ server?
SmashT replied to helioshds's topic in General Discussion
Minimum player count is 30, if you get a private shard you can lock it though. Multiplay, Vilayer, Fragnet, GamingDeluxe and Gameservers sell servers. -

Working fine for me although Steam is down for a lot of people. Day 3 of holiday sales just starting probably isn't helping.
