Especially since they are planning on very regular updates (daily/weekly). It would end up costing a fortune.

Yes similar to ArmA III, so with ArmA III the alpha costs around 25 Euro and includes alpha, beta, full release and all updates. When the game hits beta the price will increase for anyone that hasn't purchased it yet and then it will increase again to retail price once full release is out.

That is incorrect. The price will start low and increase over time as more features are added, so if you buy it early you get everything for that price, alpha, beta, full release and all updates. If you wait 12 months you will be paying a higher price as a lot of content would have been added by then. That's the minecraft model.

PAX East (Penny Arcade Expo) it's a games festival Matt and Rocket are attending, they had a discussion panel and Q&A yesterday and are doing another Q&A today. http://dayzmod.com/f...onqainterviews/ You should keep an eye on the information forum section, there are always interviews/articles/Q&A's/presentations etc being posted that aren't covered in the dev blog.

The devs are busy at PAX so a dev blog is unlikely, to be honest we have had more information come out from PAX then we would have with a dev blog anyway so I don't know why anyone would be complaining.

SurvivorHQ for me, there are a few threads that really fit that area but the vast majority is just a mash of new player, recruiting, general discussion all melded together, it's a mess. Combination of the fact that it's called SurvivorHQ instead of something better suited like HeroHQ and there aren't a great deal of options for that playstyle in the mod currently. Graveyard is by far the most entertaining.

No art has been done on the inventory yet, it was just made by the programmers so they could get some visual feedback while working on the mechanics. That's why everything is fluro at the moment. They mentioned in the Q&A if you take something from your backpack using the hotbar then it takes a longer time then if you take something out of your pockets. -
It won't have all features working 100% and the zombies are not going to be perfect when the alpha comes out, you are setting yourself up for disappointment if you are expecting that.

They have been talking about releasing an alpha following the minecraft model for months and months :/ Full release won't be for more then a year after alpha. "When it's done" has always been referring to the initial basic alpha release as that isn't going to be ready until at least June.

Maybe calling it a perpetual beta would be better suited. -
This is the official forum for the standalone and there will be changes made to it in time to reflect that. I see little point in opening another separate forum for it though and I agree that communication should be more centralized and official but if that's not happening here why would it be any different using another forum, you're just going to end up with two forums with the same problem.
