This is the first of our two part video blog, one from from PAX and the other from GDC. This was lovingly crafted by Bikeman (http://www.youtube.com/BikestMan), who was our camera man for the week. We have also released some screenshots from our latest “building” - http://goo.gl/sAQoa Read on Tumblr -

It's should be in the directory where you installed the rest of your server files, maybe try your ArmA 2 Operation Arrowhead folder?

Notepad?

That book looks awesome. Only thing I don't like is the default arma menus for turning pages. -

What is your in-game name? Sometimes names trigger setvariable value restriction #95 if they have certain letter combinations in them (set, code etc)

Last I read you are forced to rent a server from GamersPlatoon as they haven't released the server files, they also said they would release them on the 15th April but that never happened, I expect they will keep trying to milk it as long as possible. I think Pwnoz0r on OpenDayZ was going to release server files for it a couple months back and was threatened with legal action so I don't expect DayZ.St would be able to offer it anytime soon.

Don't bother fixing the miltary Mi-17 it's broken!
SmashT replied to conthefruiter's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
http://dayzmod.com/forum/index.php?/topic/130820-dayz-177dev-bug-list/ If they can't reproduce it then you must either be doing something different to them or your environment is different to theirs so they need more information in order to get it fixed. -
Leading cause of deaths in DayZ include: Doors Trees Stairs Tents Accidentally shot in the head by someone attempting to give you a blood transfusion. Throwing grenades like a girl. Driving over bridges and railway tracks. Changing clothes Walking over rocks. Chernarus is a dangerous place, even without zombies.

http://dayzmod.com/forum/index.php?/topic/109569-index-of-dayz-community-mapsmods/ Dunno which are the most popular nowadays though. Taviana, Namalsk, Panthera and Origins are probably still up there. I've seen a lot of talk about Breaking Point recently though.

This is in regards to the next mod patch.

dayz evolution in SA: [1] the loot system
SmashT replied to _Anubis_ (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I don't think they have talked about it much other then how you will need to scavenge cupboards, drawers, under beds, behind tv's, cars etc and that those spawn spots (inside) will be random. I assume it would still be defined per building though rather then 100% random otherwise there isn't much incentive to ever leave the coast. They also mentioned in the dev blog video that loot will now spawn on the server at the start of the mission, when it gets cleaned out, the server will respawn loot as needed. I am curious if that is going to be on some sort of timer or what though and if the loot respawns in the same building or in another somewhere else on the map (I think that would be ideal and would make loot farming almost impossible) -
Don't know. Not initially at least, hopefully never imo. I think private hives were necessary in the mod however and if it wasn't for them I would have stopped playing around July-August last year when the hacking problem was at it's worst. Private hives offered admins a lot more control over their servers as well as new maps/mods but at the same time allowed for greater abuse. I always trusted the admins on the servers I played on not to abuse their power and avoided those that did so this didn't really concern me a great deal. To be honest I think private hives saved the mod but nowadays have totally changed DayZ into something else, majority of servers have 500 extra vehicles, starting gear, donation rewards etc. So I think there are both pros and cons, but if they solve the hacking issues in the standalone then a lot of the reasons for them are no longer valid and they become unnecessary, it's not up to me though.

It's unavoidable. The mysql database contains all player information on a server, your location, gear, zombie kills, humanity etc. Public Hive = Servers connect to an official database, hosted and only accessible by the dev team. Private Hive = Servers connect to their own database that they host themselves. It's impossible to prevent server admins/owners from reading or using admin tools to access this data if they have direct access to the database where it is stored.
-
How do you propose that gets locked down when (private hive) admins have access to the database?

Why DayZ will fail as a standalone game
SmashT replied to TheMachine's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
This is all a bit subjective isn't it? What you deem a failure others would consider a success. The mod is hugely successful, way more then anyone ever expected even though it's full of bugs, long load times, hackers etc. The game isn't being designed for the COD and CS crowds, it's being designed for people that want a specific experience. They are making the game they want, if they wanted to appeal to the wider market they would be making a very different game. -
I'm going to be doing this... *windmills his arms* If you get hit, it's your own fault.

If you understand that you can't appeal global bans here, why did you make a topic appealing your global ban here? Contact BattlEye. Nobody here can help you.
