Mods! Can we have a suggestions thread please?

Zombie improvements probably, when asked why it wasn't mentioned in the latest blog post, rocket responded. "We consider it a bug, i.e. to be fixed near term - not a longer term feature. It's something that should work now, but doesn't, and is very high priority."

Is there someone here I can report a hacker to?
SmashT replied to AvaMea's topic in New Player Discussion
You can report their profile on Steam. VAC works by scanning players' computers for cheats. VAC scans as many machines as it can, as often as it can. While reports don't directly result in bans. If a user is reported for cheating, VAC can decide to investigate the machine a little differently, more aggressively, more frequently, or sooner. -
The DayZ Alpha is available for early adopters from Steam for 23.99 Euros. Please be aware that our Early Access offer is a representation of our core pillars, and the framework we have created around them. It’s a work in progress and therefore contains a variety of bugs. We strongly advise you not to buy and play the game at this stage unless you clearly understand what Early Access means and are interested in participating in the ongoing development cycle. Please keep in mind that we do not expect to reach Beta status sooner than the end of 2014. The initial weeks of the DayZ Alpha were really busy despite the holiday season. We’ve received incredible support from you, DayZ users, with over 875 thousand copies of the game sold in just three weeks and thousands of useful posts and reports that already led to some notable game improvements during the holiday period with much more to come in 2014. The level of support and confidence we have received from the DayZ community makes us even more dedicated to the game than we were in the past 16 months of DayZ standalone development. We didn’t want to compromise on the brutal and unforgiving nature of the early days of the DayZ mod so we’re very surprised to see such interest as this clearly is not a game for everyone, especially considering that there are some radical changes under the hood in comparison to the mod. These changes may be more subtle than when comparing the relatively limited amount of content in the standalone game against the mod in its very mature state itself, but it should be much more valid in the long term for the overall game experience and of course we’re aware how much more work is ahead. We’re already seeing unbelievable player stories happening every day in the game even in its very limited Alpha and we’re focused to make huge progress in 2014 on many areas of the game. In the short term, we’re going to focus on the most critical problems you’re experiencing atm and at the same time we’re going to work on the road to the DayZ Beta. We’re going to re-evaluate the roadmap plans in the second half of January but here is a list of the existing top priorities on our to-do list to make DayZ really meet or hopefully exceed your expectations: Server performance, stability and securityAnimals & huntingCooking & gathering resourcesPlayable user customizable vehiclesPlayer created constructions in the environmentMore complex interactions with the environment and crafting optionsStreamlined user actions and interfaceControl and animations expanded and improved for fluidityUpgraded graphics and physics engine (including ragdoll, etc.)Support of user mods and more flexibility for user hosted servers and game types Happy New Year and thank you all for the incredible support so far, without the DayZ and Arma user communities, this game would never be possible! Stuck in debug land, in need of a server owner or someone to help me.
SmashT replied to ThatSwoleGuy's topic in General Discussion
You should be on it by default but if you have opted into the experimental build and are playing on non-experimental servers, you are going to have a bad time. Day > Properties > Betas -

Switch to the stable build. -
Are you running stable or experimental? DayZ > Properties > Betas. If you are on experimental, switch to stable.

HACKERS - exist a list or stats page for our enjoy???
SmashT replied to wild_man's topic in General Discussion
This is what I love about pbbans, ban messages are sent out globally correct? So somebody could potentially make a similar service. -
So people getting kicked and banned by Battleeye are hackers?
SmashT replied to crazyandlazy's topic in General Discussion
No I can't. The bans are issued/maintained by Battleye. You will need to contact their support. Although what you are describing in your other thread does not sound like a ban at all, the play button automatically connects you to the last server you were playing on, maybe the server is down? Use the server browser. If you are banned it will tell you when connecting to BattlEye enabled servers -

SmashT replied to crazyandlazy's topic in General Discussion
Correct. Arma 2 is not a Steamworks game. Arma 3 & DayZ share BE bans - as they are both Steamworks titles. -
We are very sorry, but support for Windows XP is not planned. Please try to run the game only on Windows Vista SP2 or higher.

I would use Shadowplay, perfect for a game like this where there are large time periods between action, being that it records constantly but only saves the last 20 minutes when you hit the hotkey. Unfortunately it's pretty buggy at the moment for me in DayZ.

The team is on skeleton manning currently, you're going to have to have some patience. The server queuing system to solve combat logging, loot farming, ghosting etc is pretty close to done but won't be implemented until after Rocket gets back to the Czech Republic in mid January. They are aware of issues some players may be experiencing with stuttering character positions, and are investigating. Things are going to break pretty regularly during the alpha, that's what you signed up for by purchasing it. If you can't accept that, take a break and return when the game is further along in development.

To be clear, Arma 3 & DayZ share BE bans - as they are both Steamworks titles. -
The problem with ArmA/DayZmod was that CD Keys were stored in the registry, this resulted in massive CD key theft and cheaters just buying new keys for a dollar every time they were banned. BattlEye did ban over 150,000 cheaters in 15 months time so it was in fact pretty effective at catching them. With DayZ now using Steam, bans will be much more costly for those cheating. We also have VAC.
-
We estimate that reaching Beta version with all key features present will take more than one year from current stage.

The devs are aware of issues some players may be experiencing with stuttering character positions, and are investigating. Info to come tomorrow.

Do it while you are on the loading screen connecting. May take a few attempts.

The forums can't help you with VAC or BattlEye bans, contact their support.
