    Private Hives?

    Access to server files and server modifications will not be available until the game is released. Sub-private hives will be implemented at some point before that which will allow private servers on a separate shard of the central database, without those private communities affecting the main hive and without giving server owners direct access to the database.

  3. Nope. I'm not. I wasn't happy with the previous iterations either though. Zombies need to be a significant threat and I think just making them faster is a poor way to accomplish that. One day I hope the threat comes from their numbers and not their speed but that doesn't look like it's possible at the moment for performance reasons. Will it ever? Who knows? Of course all the issues with them also need to be fixed (pathing, collision etc).

    Clan Server admin abuse

    If you encounter an abusive admin or server, please do not post it here on the forums. We cannot do anything with these reports. It is not productive and does not expedite action taken against these servers.     Help! I been dead

    Hello, this is a known issue and a fix is on its way. There are several workarounds you can use while we work on resolving this issue. You can use the few seconds you have before the "You are dead" screen appears to slowly move towards the coast each time, until you are finally out of the water. Because the core of the issue is the fact that your character is actually not dead (despite the "You are dead" screen) you can simply wait until your character dies of starvation. Once you are actually dead, the respawn button will become available again. Another workaround reported by the community is the following: 1) Rename your character and restart the game 2) Log in to a server 3) When you get the "You are dead" or "You are unconscious" screen, open the pause menu and respawn 4) The timer will start counting down from 30 seconds 5) During this 30 second countdown quickly switch servers You can always change the beta preference in Steam to play on a different database. The stable and experimental versions of the game each use a different database, therefore if you are experiencing this issue on stable, you will be able to play on experimental. To change the beta preferences, please do the following: 1. Right-click DayZ in the Steam library 2. Click properties 3. Switch to the "Betas" tab 4. Change the preference 5. Close the window 6. Wait for DayZ to update We realize that this problem is very frustrating and I assure you that we are working hard on a solution that will free the characters of all players affected by it.

    Ah, back when you started with a pistol, that was a bloodbath with everyone killing each other on the shore just to get more ammo, probably worse than now tbh.
  7. I think it's going to need careful balancing in terms of how rare items are as well as some sort of degradation or other mechanism in place to prevent rare items being hoarded and remaining unused so they can be respawned without causing loot inflation.
  8. Probably, not until after release though. I'm not a fan either. Sub-private hives will come in the meantime though. This allows communities to have their own private servers without it affecting the main hive and without giving server owners direct access to the database. The system is also flexible enough so that a group of servers could run on this shard of the hive too (or just one single one). This gives the best of both having a database and having a private community, without those private communities affecting the main database. For sub-private hives I expect they would have their own loot economy just for that shard. Again they would only be able to jump between servers on that private shard.
  9. Private Hives are a completely separate thing, using their own database and not managed by BIS. So yes to your last point.
  10. I'm still not following you. Yes, when they implement a global loot economy, loot on the public hive will be managed by a central server, so yes, there may very well be some extremely rare item that only exists on x amount of servers within that hive at any one point.
  11. I'm really not following you at all, a hive is a collection of servers all connected to each other on the same database shard. Obviously you cannot carry gear between private and public hives. I can't see how you could think he meant anything other than hopping between servers on a single hive - which is the whole premise behind the hive architecture? That you can join any server and continue where you left off, move stuff between servers etc.

  15. Last time I made a topic In General Discussion about a Dev Interview people complained that I didn't put it in the DevTracker with all the other information from the Devs so I moved it. This time I start one in the DevTracker and people complain it's not in General Discussion. Can't win.
  16. Pretty sure child zombies were ruled out. Not feasible as it would require new models, new skeletons, new animations for every animation on the new skeleton. (months of work) as well as the PR nightmare. [source] Suicide is confirmed and in progress [source] Cannibalism is something that has been on the cards for a while but needs a lot of design work as they don't want everyone just eating everyone they find, in the real world it would be a last resort kind of thing but don't want to prevent it entirely as a playstyle so it's not on the roadmap at the moment.

  21. Yes, bans are shared between ArmA 3 and DayZ. No one on these forums can help you with BattlEye global ban issues. To be clear though BattlEye does not ban for having cheat engine open in the background, that's nonsense. http://www.battleye.com/support.html

    They are not a DayZ GSP. Only these 5 providers are. Multiplay: [email protected]: [email protected]: [email protected]: [email protected]: [email protected] I'd hazard a guess that a GSP rents dedicated servers from them and that's how you have identified them but you need to contact the DayZ GSP not the dedicated hoster as they'd have no clue over the terms of agreements made with Bohemia nor could they do anything about it. If you can't work out who the DayZ GSP is, BCC them all into the same e-mail. If a GSP is not taking action, save your replies and forward to the BI Support email alias with -evidence- of misconduct, and it can be addressed at a higher level. A Support Lead has also just been hired and part of his responsibility will be dealing with stuff like this.
