I've seen others throughout ArmA/DayZmod/DayZ with the same issue. A couple of things people have tried that worked: If you can get a cheap mic, (pretty sure you could even use ipod/iphone headphones and plug them into your mic input if you have a pair lying around) to test, although I wouldn't recommend using it to talk, for some reason if you don't have a micophone plugged in, direct coms won't work for some people, strange I know. Alternatively, you can try opening your windows sounds settings. Click the Start Button, type MMSYS.CPL in the Start Search box and press Enter. Go to the tab "Recording". You'll see Microphone, Line In, Stereo Mix, etc. If you don't see them, right click in white space and click the “Show Disabled Devices” and “Show Disconnected Devices" check marks. Now. Set Stereo Mix as the Default device. Helpful if you have a friend to test with as many people in-game won't reply at all. -

Dunno how you came to the conclusion that the peak players today is 1/3rd the active player base. Most people don't play everyday and certainly not all at the same exact time. The topic and forum section didn't exist before today, topics are dated when they were published to tumblr and all future devblogs will have topics created here automatically when they are published there (well within 30 minutes or so). -

There is a bind for VON but I don't know how that relates to separate channels. -

Personally I use separate mouse buttons for separate channels. You can set them to whatever you want in the control options. -

So I set my direct chat to always on, then my headset to mute and have a mouse button push to unmute, effectively the exact same outcome as we have now so I don't really see the point, I don't need to make a choice. You don't need a second mic to accomplish that, it's very trivial to do with one regardless of how the game has tried to enforce it and if the goal is not to combat third party coms (I'm pretty sure that is the ops idea) then doesn't the game already allow open mics for those that want it by simply double tapping capslock and your mic will stay on for as long as you want? -

It's effectively unenforceable, most people use push to talk anyway so would just set their mic to be muted until that key is pushed. Outcome is exactly the same as we have now. -

Need FTP access to be able to prevent posts/topics with keywords being made, which we don't have. Also uses unique IP's each time. -
I'd prefer they address the issues directly instead of introducing new features detrimental to gameplay. Surely teleport/speedhacking, unlimited ammo, itemhook etc can be addresses at the server level instead of allowing clients to decide.

Pretty sure it can be done (not requiring post validation, but just preventing people from making topics until they have x posts) I'm not entirely convinced it would do anything to stop spam though, instead just moving spambots into existing topics. -

I think it's a step in the right direction, I'm hoping the server controlling this will eventually lead to hackers not being able to teleport/speedhack around the map as the server is like nope... -

Pretty sure writing/labeling items has been talked about, which could be interesting as it opens up the opportunity to deliberately mislabel things.

We do have a pinned topic for discussion of the current hacking situation in DayZ so that's hardly the case. Our forums are not going to become a platform for cheats to be advertised though. The more attention that is brought to individual hackers, the more likely they are to just feed off the recognition and do it more.
