Standalone announcement is due very soon so just be patient or play on private servers.

I think this is the only viable solution at the moment, the few private servers I have seen though simply require you to signup and you instantly get the password, maybe that small effort would be enough of a deterrent though and hackers would simply choose easier targets.

Use DayZ commander instead, much better.

^ I think a lot of that comes down to the limitation of the engine itself, might have to wait for standalone unfortunately for something to be done for instanceinstance they could change it so everything is handled server-side instead of client-side, which would make it impossible for hackers to spawn in anything they wanted, private servers/hives may be the only viable solution for the time being though. -
I think you would be very surprised to find out the age of some of these cheaters.

Well hacking is always going to exist, that's just the nature of online gaming, and no matter what anti cheat solution the game uses that will still happen, given that the standalone game is going to use a different engine, it's perfectly reasonable to expect that the types of cheats we are seeing at the moment will simply not be possible though, teleporting, spawning weapons, cars, helis, invincibility etc. -

Happens with all games once they become popular, the ArmA engine is particularly bad though, never seen cheats like these before in any other game. Anyone that is using other hackers as an excuse to hack themselves is just as scummy as them though, it's good that these exploits have been found now though so that the standalone game can be more made more secure. -

Aren't the days normally counted by in-game time? I'm only on day 2 after an entire week of playing. -
I've heard that it depends on your FPS, you can run faster simply by looking at the sky so you get higher FPS, haven't tested it myself though.

Anyway, best of luck with your ArmA refund even though you haven't even played the game at all. This is a mod for that game, that is in alpha and has only been in development for a few months. Maybe you would be best to wait until DayZ gets a standalone release and is no longer in alpha/beta.

He said an announcement would be made very soon and it's likely we will see something out by October, possibly even September at earliest. I don't even know how that is supposed to work being so soon but that's what he said. Starts at about 24 minute mark. -
Zombies aren't really a threat at all, they can't touch you when you are running and you can lose them simply by running through trees or in a building. It's other players you have to worry about.
