desolate beach - nothing in any direction - where am I ?
SmashT replied to hikerlt's topic in New Player Discussion
It tells you when you spawn in bottom right, running in either direction should lead to either a town or the end of the map. Have you looked on a map? dayzdb.com It's not possible you ran in both directions following the coast for hours and not either end up off the map (no trees/grass/etc) or a town. Walking a few metres inland almost always leads to a road. -
Did the Admin close his server?
SmashT replied to Muncywolverine's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Happened to a server I was using regularly, had all my best gear in a tent, has been gone for over a week now :( I split my gear between multiple servers now. -
Happens daily, "friendly" hackers are just as bad as the rest.

Battleeye isn't the problem, the engine is designed to allow scripting on purpose, it won't be resolved until standalone. -

Do you even play the game? People aren't talking about suspicious kills, they are talking about someone spawning 50 helicopters, teleporting everyone to the moon, the middle of the ocean, thunderdome (a deathmatch arena from mad max), turning you into a sheep, goat, zombie, spawning things that aren't even in the game such as jets and police cars and being invincible. -
I know this might look like advertisement
SmashT replied to bean_stream's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Probably a hack unless you just got unlucky and your mouse went mental at that exact moment. I haven't seen it happen before though. -
It will use the real virtuality engine, which is the engine that ArmA, ArmA 2, ArmA 3, Operation Flashpoint, Iron Front and a number of other games were based on, so yes, the DayZ engine will be similar to the ArmA 2 engine but it is not the same, if that is not what you want then too bad.

The majority of servers advertise incorrect timezones.
SmashT replied to Ewan123's topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
Good luck trying to enforce that, if I was an admin and you made that a rule I would simply remove it from my name, oh great now no server even tries to tell you what timezone it uses -

Yeh it happens, in a perfect world the actual current server time would be sent to the server browser instead of having to rely on each admin to have the correct time zone in their name -

so, hacking is here to stay apparently
SmashT replied to Lowbei's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Given that all his existing code was using ArmA 2's engine, I would assume it would look very similar to what you see now. -

SmashT replied to Lowbei's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
It's the real virtuality engine, which is the base engine that ArmA 2, ArmA 3, Operation flashpoint, Iron Front and a number of other games used. That's precisely why the time-frame to standalone is so short, a couple of months away, as most of the existing code can simply be ported into it. The problem with using the ArmA 2 engine, or the ArmA 3 engine for that matter is that the DayZ team can not make changes to it,'not to mention a lot of the problems in DayZ, being able to use scripts for example is actually an intended feature in the ArmA games, even if Rocket was allowed to make engine changes, he wouldn't be able to touch that as it would completely break ArmA in the process. Going standalone solves that as they can simply modify the DayZ engine code to prevent any scripts from being run at all. -

I'm not sure what you expect to see from a screenshot, it would look nearly identical to what you see now since the base engine is the same and the existing code would simply be ported into it. -
Banned For Spawning Items On My Own Server
SmashT replied to wdaniel526's topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
You thought you could hack because your the admin, are you stupid? -
ROFL, you must be blind
-
Its going standalone this year, at which time they can modify the engine as it will no longer be tied to ArmA
-
Vac would be just as useless, the anti cheat isn't the problem, the ArmA engine was designed to allow scripts on purpose, can't be changed until standalone
-
One hacker but thunderdomed three times.... Right
-
I'm convinced you are either trolling, a cheater yourself or you don't actually play the game
-
Nothing unusual there

You will die a lot There are a lot of hackers
