    Vehicles impossible to find!!!

    Occasionally servers can bug out and no vehicles will appear, usually fixes itself at restart. Many servers running 1.7.2.5 have an issue with both tents and vehicles not saving, so you should have some luck finding them at the spawn locations, they will return there again when the server restarts though. Otherwise you probably just aren't looking hard enough, I find vehicles all the time by simply following the edge of the map up North.

    I only play DayZ so have no reason to use it over Commander, atleast "Play With Six" supports 1.7.2.5 though.

    Try joining another server, if you are in debug forest you should spawn at the beach.

    I would just play elsewhere, you can report it if you want, haven't seen anything done with reported servers though so it's probably a waste of time.

    Was this an actual admin or simply a player named Admin? Admins may be able to locate someone by looking through the logs for location data, not sure exactly, I don't think that the logged coordinates match up to in-game coordinates regardless but if they really wanted to they could probably figure it out. There is no legitimate way to have two helicopters on a server, it's one per server, a hacker would need to spawn any additional ones in.

  10. Fair enough, I usually have a handful of servers that I spread my gear between in case of things like this, learnt my lesson when I had everything on a single server that shutdown and never returned.
  11. You got what you deserved, BE will not globally ban any player for using hacked items, many admins do.

    Standalone maps

    Actually a modified version of Chernarus currently named Chernarus Plus will be in standalone, among other changes more buildings will be enterable, in the future more maps will be added. Lingor is very likely to be included at some point too. The mod is going to become more open so hopefully we see some more community developed maps for the mod, succesful ones are likely to be taken and implemented into standalone at some point in the future.
  17. Probably not, it's pretty annoying when a cheater is named admin though since most players don't have common sense and assume that it's actually a server admin cheating, maybe instead of kicking them simply put a MOTD that lists the admins or have all admins use a clan tag?

    Why is a high ping so BAD?

    DayZ's heavy client side nature means ping isn't as much of an issue as it is with most other games, you can play with a high ping and probably won't notice much difference, although you may appear to 'warp' for other players which is pretty annoying when you are aiming at someone and they constantly teleport every few metres, that's probably the main reason servers implement a ping limit.

    Rocket AMA

    Rocket is currently doing an AMA (ask me anything) on /r/dayz, and is being quite open about a lot of the planned DayZ standalone features. Below is a paraphrased list, I recommend reading the full AMA for context and extra tidbits of information. A lot of the AMA is casual discussion and is subject to change, so keep that in mind. General Information - Target for release is by the end of the 2012 working year. - The release will be for the public alpha version, i.e. not the stable release. - The standalone will provide the dev team with absolute freedom, and they will utilize many aspects of the Real Virtuality engine, not limited to the ArmA 3 version. It will be their own branch of the engine. - Alpha will be heavily discounted, and the end product will never be a fully priced retail product. Rocket mentions that he can't picture a price over 25 euro (30 USD) for the final. - No pre-ordering, but there will be a premium/collector's edition available with swag like art prints and concept work. - The game mechanics will stay as they are now. - Focus will be on re-developing game architecture first, and then development of new features. - There will be no "endgame", but rather continued gameplay decided by the individual player. Kind of like Minecraft before The End was introduced. New features - A new/modified map, "Chernarus Plus". - Chernarus Plus will have more interactive (enter-able) buildings. Non-interactive buildings will be easier to spot. - Hand combat, in addition to the melee weapons we already have. - Dogs can be a survivor's companion. "Expect them to track, to warn you of danger, and to follow you. And then get shot. And then you QQ." - There will be no safe areas on the map. - A quiver for crossbow bolts. - Weapon and gear degradation. - A diary system, allowing other players to see notes left by you when you're offline, not around, or dead. - A robust web interface, as previewed at Rezzed earlier this summer. - Narrative that will describe the virus background. Improvements over the mod - More weapons. Many of which are custom, "find at home" style weaponry. Cricket bat, anyone? - Zombies will not switch to walking when indoors (once pathing for zambies is fixed and their lifecycle is implemented). - More clothing and player customization, including colors and face. - The humanity system will be fine tuned. - More robust weather system, redesigned from scratch. - Zombies will be much more frightening. - Improved broken limb system. - And entirely new hive syncing system. - Improved anti-cheat measures. - Improved player UI. The inventory is being reworked from scratch. - The female character will be feature complete. - Better performance, including faster loading. Future plans - More islands other than Chernarus, created by either the dev team or the community. Players will travel to them by boat or air. - Increase max player count. 100-200 would be easily achievable, but any more would require a larger map. - More wildlife. "Horses would be cool too." - Animations will be improved. - There are vague mentions of a revised server hosting scheme. - Add "methods that allow players to create their own systems for things, so if they wanted to create such a system they could". So perhaps think about Garry's Mod and how players can program in aspects that affect their own gameplay. Not sure on this one. - Underground "bases" and other construction, but Rocket mentions that it's a pretty ambitious endeavor to develop. - Group play and faction support. Current DayZ mod version - The current mod version of DayZ will continue to be updated, and will become more open. - Dogs will be coming to the mod (in the next update, v1.7.3) before the standalone. - The possibility of private hive servers. - Lingor Island may be coming to the mod. - It looks like Rocket is going to continue using the mod as a way to test new features before they're thrown into the standalone build.   22. This is an issue with 1.7.2.5, we have the problem of tents not saving and vehicles being reset on server restart and I know many other servers do too.

    Hackers.

    Battle.net is Blizzards online service. BattlEye is the anti cheat service used by ArmA. It's not that they stopped caring, just that the game has become hugely popular, the player numbers have literally doubled in the last 30 days, the more popular the game becomes the more cheaters there are going to be.

    Why did I spawn somewhere I wasn't before?

    Most likely you closed the game when stuck on a loading screen, when you are loading the game places you into debug forest, then moves you to your location when you finish loading, I am only guessing here but it's probably done so you dont get killed by players/zombies before you even finish loading into the game. If you abort/escape/close the game when you are stuck on loading the hive will think you are in debug forest still so the next time you get in a server it will spawn you back at the coast. A temporary fix, if you know of a server that you have no problems joining is to alt tab when stuck on the loading screen, launch another copy of the game, it will ask you if you want to close the original, click no, join a server you know you have no problems joining, once you are in-game where you were supposed to spawn, alt tab to the game stuck on loading screen and close it. Once most servers and sixlauncher update to the latest version it should occur a lot less as the main reason people get stuck on the loading screen is because they tried to join a server on a mismatching version to their own.
