Do i keep my stuff when hoping servers?
SmashT replied to Fearless996's topic in New Player Discussion
Only if they connect to the same hive (database) All public servers connect to the same hive run by the dev team, so your items, gear, location etc will persist across all of them. Almost all private servers connect to their own hive database so your gear/location etc will only stay on that server. Some private servers connect/share a single hive (Private Vilayer servers connect to 'Vilayer Hive' etc) Majority of servers nowadays are private servers/hives. If you are using DayZCommander you can filter them by ticking 'hide unofficial' -
Contact BattlEye. http://www.battleye.com/support.html Nobody can do anything about your ban but them.

You can't get banned for taking hacked weapons, your friend either cheated or downloaded malware which stole his CD key. If your friend thinks this is a false positive then he needs to take it up with BattlEye. http://www.battleye.com/support.html

Please keep the bumps to a minimum, once an hour is a bit much. -
Any reason you don't want to see attachments other then WarZ has them? ArmA 3 also has modular weapons, interchangeable scopes etc and since they have changed how the standalone engine deals with weapons it's possible we will see the same in the standalone.

Global Age verification system for servers
SmashT replied to Unic (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Would be about as successful as those age verification pages where you have to input your birthday before access a website. -
It's a mod of the DayZMod, aimed at implementing features the community has requested, the guy making it is also on the community dev team so you might see some of the popular changes made here added to the official mod at some point. I haven't played it yet but a few of the features/differences include: - Construction system (ladders, gates, barriers, camo netting, watch towers etc) - New types of clothing (soldier clothing, different camo, woodland, ghillies etc) - New weapons - New tent models - Less high-end military loot (I think AS50's, NVG's, Rangefinders, M107's have been removed entirely) - Backpack sizes/slots adjusted - Some weapons changed (crowbar is a toolbelt item now and damage increased, crossbow fire rate increased etc) - Loot spawn rates/tables completely redone. - New types of crash sites. - Zombie damage increased

My understanding is there is no longer an active technical or support team for the mod and the recommendation is to migrate over to private hives.

Usually running a few metres away and then back fixes it.

Please explain me some things about servers. I'm confused.
SmashT replied to tals975's topic in New Player Discussion
The 'hive' is basically the database which stores all player information, locations, equipment etc. All 'official' servers connect to the one single official hive (database), so you can move between any of these servers and your character/location/equipment will persist. Private servers connect to their own hive (database), everything you do on those servers will remain on that server and not affect any of your other characters on other servers. Note: There are some private servers that share a single hive. I think all Vilayer private servers connect to one 'Vilayer Hive' for example so you could move between any Vilayer servers and your character would persist. The server you posted is a private server/hive (majority are nowadays), if you are using DayZCommander they are marked with a cloud icon and you can filter them by ticking 'hide unofficial' -
Do you mean the resolution? It's under settings > video options. Generally it's a good idea to have 3D resolution and interface resolution set to the same thing.

How do people deal with hackers and glitches?
SmashT replied to T8TRG8TR's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Majority of people play on whitelisted private hives nowadays, with active admins hacking isn't really an issue. There are plenty of random players on private hives too, some have over 5000+ players signed up. -
You already have your answer from BattlEye.

Admins can set the timezone/offset the in-game time on the server, I imagine most offset it so peak times (evenings) are set to daylight, you've probably just been unlucky. If you are using DayZCommander, servers don't actually provide the time they are set to directly, DayZCommander just looks at the UTC offset set in the server name and displays it in a readable format, so the time displayed is only as reliable as the admin updating the server name to match the time offset they are using on the server. In many cases it's wrong.
-
I'd suggest playing on private hives.

If CS taught me anything it's that this will only ever result in offensive images being sprayed onto walls.

Hacker keeps coming back after being banned.
SmashT replied to Roofuz's topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
It's more the fact that ArmA stores players CD Key in the registry resulting in massive CD key theft and stolen keys that cost about a dollar. -
http://www.nightstal...u=en_dn_changes If you're registered on hacking websites and get banned by BattlEye (twice in this case) don't expect any helpful responses on these forums, people generally don't like helping cheaters. They aren't welcome here. You won't get any sympathy for buying/using stolen keys either.

Most if not all of that information is already stored in the database
