  1. Well,I just played on a server where the same 3 guys respawned half a dozen times, while I played for hours. I finally got shot right after I picked up a SAW at a helicopter wreck; my thoughts were wandering off, instead of paying attention, there. When I respawned I spawned near one of the guys that kept getting killed - and he didn't even crouch. Pretty much from minute 1 he had zombies on him and when I went around the place I found dead bodies that only had the basics (painkillers and bandage) on them. So I assume they all went to an early grave there. People need to learn the controls and know the map a little, before they try to engage in DayZ. I suggest playing some vanilla Arma to get used to all of that to keep the whining to a minumum. The game is really great, but I don't understand why people call it easy.True - you can get away from the zombies, but the real enemy are the other players. And that's something I sometimes like, but often dislike. I for one would have liked to use that SAW I found on zombies. I could only hear that what shot me was another SAW. So I guess next time, I'll be the one doing the shooting. That seems to be how this game works. Sometimes you kick, sometimes you get kicked.

    Group up?

How do you know it's bandits? Pretty much everyone just shoots at sight. There is a lot of paranoia in this game, and I can't blame players.I usually stalk other players for a while and keep myself hidden, while finding out in direct chat, if they want to join up. Usually that's not worth the hassle, though.

    Trade Zones

Well, in the Walking Dead graphic novel there was a prison that pretty much worked as a safe zone for a long time. There was also a small town that was walled in, so that wouldn't require a government. I'm not playing DayZ for that long, but the PvP really gets on my nerves. There were people stupid and slow and I had to chase them to talk to them. And when they finally notice me they open fire - popular place for that is inside a church. So the churches are supposed to be PvP areas? I am mostly annoyed by the whole "making contact" part of the game; it isn't really there. I also don't know if the point should be to shoot everyone at sight. I've had far more fun playing with others than alone. Greed is how our society works. This game displays that pretty good. And it also helps foster the bad inside every one of us. Example: I shot some guys with an enfield that had alice bags and an M4 and a Kobra + lots of stuff. I can only imagine all the shit they went through to get it and all I had to do was wait for them and ambush them. (I heard gunfire from the castle and knew they would come that way). Does that make me a hero? No - it makes me a dick. And that's what all that PvP is in my oppinion: a show of 1 inch dicks. It doesn't make for a better game and the fact that it's everywhere at the moment is just suck. I don't ask for much, but some sanctuary would be nice, imho.

    DayZ is TOO EASY!

"keep your replies constructive" uhh-humm. I'd say keep your thread constructive first. You either have too much time or you like spending it crawling around. I have had zombies that ran up on me without even being able to see me; of course this only happens when I carry a gun, but I don't know why. If you're saying "game is too easy" you just wait for snappy replies. It is not easy at all. Easy as Left4Dead or Killing Floor or NMRIH, I mean. This is a completely different beast. If anything, I'd say it is too hard. Unless you lose zombies using glitches, like buildings and trees where they reset, it is fucking hard to lose them at all - once you alerted them. So what exactly do you feel is easy about it? Is it the crawling around and evading them, or is it actually losing them, especially without ammo. I don't see how it would be possible at all without using the glitches I mentioned before. There are not always fences to climb or steep hills to outmanouever them. If you are playing solo, this game is hard. period.
  5. Excellent. Just what I've been looking for :) ... and I bet a lot of other people too.Testing now
  6. I played with a guy today, called Mc Pedro. We were in Cherno and went back to the medtents at hospital and he got shot. Naturally I shot his murderer a minute later, but I couldn't revive McPedro. [You had to run ahead Mc Pedro, didn't you :)] We looted Cherno for an hour before and I had first seen him in Balota and later again at the small mili-base at airfield. It was a great round and I would very much like to repeat it. If you are out there, Mc Pedro (from Sweden), do write me a PM. It was awesome playing together, and I want to do it again. I hereby pin your name on this virtual blackboard. pinned
  7. I am trying to connect and get the message that arma OA is in maintenance. This si extremely odd, since I've never seen this message before. I can't load (or see) any games/servers that us Operation Arrowhead. Does anyone else have that problem, and do you have a clue for how long they will run maintenance? Thx
  8. Do you know if it is still possible to IP connect? The thing is -I only changed servers, because I wanted to reconnect to the prior server (where I had saved my car). I died on that server and it was lagging at spawn. So I went running to the spot with the car on another server and when I wanted to connect back to the old one: boom -maintanance :( Of course this happens afterI finally have the damn thing repaired and fueled up :) DayZ is sometimes like it knows my brain. I break a leg when I don't have morphine, I have been wondering -that's a bit offtopic, but when I save my car on one server, it won't be in the same location on the next server, right? Anyway, I hope everything will be back up. Awesome, addicing game, this is!!!

    The glitches of Dayz

To me "Alpha" (in its normal use) means internal testing, beta is public testing. So to call a game that thousands of people play alpha is still a bit beyond my comprehension. Maybe they refer to it as Alpha to indicate the amount of things to change and account for the glitches. You might also call it Alpha, if a lot of content (e.g. player model, map, etc.are going to be replaced). Yet, there is nothing wrong with people who call this a beta, since it's publicly tested and played.

Day Z is soon to be dead

What I don't get is why people are comparing a game that is working in Alpha stage (Day Z) and a game that is merely a wishful thought (War Z).You can't compare what you haven't played. I think Day Z is great when it works and horrible where it doesn't work. For example - when players meet it'sall about who shoots first. You cannot trust anyone, because everybody shoots you. It would be nice if there was a way to negotiate with other players and have a seize fire. Also hacking is really annoying, if you started to care about your character. However, from the music to the scripts and zombie movement patterns this game is great. It feels fantastic and fun and is very unique in the pace. I do love it a lot, but I'm worried about how it can be made bug free/ hacker free. If the quirks can be worked out it will be a fantastic game. It needs more options for player interaction (gestures), and I really don't like all the friendly fire. It adds to the suspense, but the result is that I now kill everyone I see, instead of trying to talk.

Day Z is soon to be dead

I have been looking forward to getting into DayZ. I've been playing Arma since before it was Arma (OFP), and I know my way around the game and keyboard shortcuts. I've played 7 characters so far, whereof two survived around 4 hours and the others died mostly, because someone was hacking. 1st start of the game a guy in a ghillie-suit teleported next to me and blew me up: hacker. 2nd round was alright, but I stayed far away from the coast. and so on. Today I lost my stuff at a gas station near Zelenogorsk and when I went back to retrieve it, and I finally got there, the game was hacked and all players were teleported to near Kamenka, where a hacker shot at everyone. So, my experiences are bad. 2x killed by players I obviously surrendered to and could have easily killed myself. 3x killed by Hackers, 2x killed by zombies while repping car and just generally checking out the game. As long as Arma's scripts can be hacked in that way (and they will always be hacked), there is no way a game like this can properly work. I don't understand who takes joy in destroying other players hours of work, but I'm sorry to say that this mod is not going to work as DLC or anything retail, unless it is absolutely hack-proof. That's where I see WarZ ahead of it, because they will make sure to build something that is impossible to script in the ways Arma is. It was great fun, but it doesn't really work with those hackers around.
