That is a bit tricky to say, because even if you go there, they may not have spawned. I've never been to the same location twice and found deer or cows there. It's not like they always spawn in the same place. However, cows seem to be spawning more on gras; the last herd I saw was north of Gorka, but I couldn't say where exactly. Somewhere on the fields north-east of Altar. The last herd of deer I saw was on the edge of the forest north of Sinistok (in the north west). I have found no pattern or reason for deer to spawn, except there seems to be always a feeding shack within one mile (1 square on the map) distance. I think it's best to just move around and check waterholes/lakes and the small feeding stands if you happen to come across them. All the animals I ran across were totally coincidentially. You may notice a slight lag as they spawn; it is quite possible that if you move through an area too fast they don't even spawn. Everytime I found deer, I was taking a short break, lying in the high grass for a few minutes. Would be interesting to hear others observations about this. I don't think there are boars currently, or I haven't seen them. From the distance, I thought the herd of cows was a group of players, heh. I know that deer don't make much noise, but the cows would be so much more awesome, if they went "mooing" about when they run. I really like the cow running animation, makes me smile every time. -> this discussion doesn't quite belong here though, so if you feel like it, make a thread for people to collect info on deer and hunting locations.

Yeah, they spawn, but I don't think that is for our entertainment. It's probably either involuntary, or because they cannot disable them completely. I'd actually like to know why there are still three zombies spawning. Are the devs collecting data on them? It seems so random, but well - must have been a nice surprise. I've yet to see a zombie, but I come across some cows and deer, fair nuff.

That might make life on the beach a little earlier for fresh-spawns, too. If a town they pass is looted to the bones they could still dig for clams. Apples aren't always around or not right at the coast, at least. Only problem is that you'd really need boiling water for the cooking + a pot. Are there any bushcraft ways to prepare clams? Could be useful if you don't have a pot handy, maybe you can just throw them on the hot ashes? I like the idea, beans for you!

That's got to be a first - planting pumpkins right next to the barracks! I wonder if we can use the chainsaw engines in the future to build stuff like gate openers or mabye even small motos. They seem too useful to be just an extremely loud melee weapon or a faster method of cutting trees. Add leafblowers to the game and we can use them to turbo-charge our car with them ;) So the DayzUnderground server(s) are mildly roleplaying? I can only assume that braindamage is a new player and his friend is, too. BECAUSE WHO THE FUCK STARTS A CONVERSATION AT THE NOTHERN AIRFIELD ;) -> this is taking RP too far.

Isn't it also more or less so that all the rifles (of the same caliber) do similar damage at the moment? This whole situation may be temporary, until all weapons actually receive proper stats?! Don't quote me on this though. I'm not a Wiki-goer when it comes to Dayz, but I think someone mentioned that to me a week ago or so. I was a bit surprised myself, because they definitely feel different. I think he looked up the difference between the UMP and MP5 and it turned out they do the same damage; and they even aren't the same caliber. Not too sure about this, but if you know better feel free to correct me.

So apart from my problems of reading any of the links posted by the devs in their Twitter threats and other small issues, there are some issues with captcha + security codes on the forum. What happened is, I deleted my browser history/cleaned up, and despite having all my passwords saved for any other site, Dayzgame.com didn't save anything. I still had to enter my password manually, despite having ticked on "remember me". I then tried to use a link for this forum from after I had signed in. Again I was asked to enter my password, but when I did - it didn't work any more. Since then, my password is unusable. My password worked before and I didn' make any typos. Obviously, the next thing I tried was to reset password - but on Chrome you see no Captcha codes, even after disabling extensions, such as adblock plus + browser antivirus. I tried this a dozen of times. Then I tried contacting the staff - but you can only see the list of staff (after some searching), but can't contact anyone. Why not? Because you are not logged in... In the end I had to switch to Mozilla, which is seemingly the only browser that works with this forum. I then got a captcha and could relog with a new PW. I do believe however, this forum should work on any browser, and I don't wanna install Mozilla everytime I have a problem with the site. Fix it please!

I'd say you're right and would even switch browsers, if Chrome ever was problematic on any other forum or site. It's odd that I keep having probems here. I think it might have to do with some addons, but those that usually caused problems I de-activated and still could not see Captchas. And now when I log on, I always have to go to "sign in", then I see my password is remembered and after logging in I end up at this link: https://forums.dayzgame.com/index.php?app=core&module=global§ion=login&do=process (sorry you don't have permission...) However, after that everything works as usual. Before I cleaned my browser history and cache it would just automatically log me in without the "sign in" process.

I don't delete the passwords. That's kinda my point. Every other site accepted these settings, but in Dayz forums I had to re-enter my PW and then the link stopped working, like I wrote in the post above yours.

Pfft, all it did was make life to easy for snipers. A shot to the head still gets you killed, though you may survive with a helmet or something that deflects the bullet. Imho that's exatcly how it should be. I don't wear the plate carrier for nothing. If I got killed with a one hit on that, it would be pretty pointless. I don't think the game suffers from being a bit more arcade, espcially since all we can do at the moment is shoot at each other. Could be mildly fixed when zombies are back in, but generally I like that I don't usually die from a single shot. 2-3 shots from my CR75 to the chest, still make a guy unconscious. Then I can either capture him or kill him. That's far better than killing him with a one hit.
-
Chrome remembered your password? Or did you have to re-enter it? Because after re-entering it, try using the link from when you are logged onto the forum. It will tell you to enter your password again and that is where it stopped working for me. And from there on onwards nothing worked for me, including no visible Captcha.

10 most interesting dayz short clips in one memorbale moments #10
S3V3N replied to Toperek1990 (DayZ)'s topic in Gallery
Damn deer terrifying the locals! Maybe someone will mod an MG mount on their back, so they can shoot back someday ;) This game is definitely more fun with friends. At least if you wanna raid the airfield and milibases. The video with the Russians talking in direct illustrates how disadvantageous it is to use direct in the game. The guy stuck in the climbing animation is hilarious. These are the kind of bugs that I love in Dayz. -
I just had a new, but similar problem. After loading, the site showed my password and I assumed it would log me in. So I hit "sign in". Then I was told request could not be completed (or something like it), so I clicked "contact the site administrator" - which brought me to this page: about:blank It seems all the links in the forum itself are messed up and don't lead where they are supposed to. Or maybe Chrome doesn't recognize them correctly. The odd thing is, next I noticed that (despite all the contrary messages) I am actually logged in now. I can't say what is going wrong, but something is definitely amiss here.

is there a way to retrieve items from the hidden part of tent inventory?
S3V3N replied to edwin3's topic in General Discussion
Which tent do you refer to as the "big tent"? I have not yet found a military tent, but had no problem accessing the full inventory in both, the cartent and the civilian. -
Maybe you can look into why my password wasn't saved after I cleaned my browser history. Every other password to any other site was saved. Only when I came back here, I had to re-enter it and it would still not save it/remember me.

This buttstock is extremely rare? I already found 4 of them and mostly around police cars. I like the UMP better anyway, though ammo is a bit harder to come by (mags are not, however). I'd say the glowplugs are rare, but this buttstock is not very hard to find, if you just stick to police cars.
-
Why would you even use all 3? Which one do you use the most? Is Chrome your main browser? I've had nothing but trouble with Chrome and this forum. And it is the only one, too.

BCBasher said a couple of times that he got himself unstuck by running against the rock edge (or in your case the wall edge) and pulling the plug on the modem at the same time. It doesn't seem to always work on the first try, but I trust this method will also get you free'd. Bit cumbersome with the reconnection. I hope you have luck trying this on your first or second time! Let us know if it worked :)

I love about the Arma series that there are mods of mods :) Exile is a very ambitious mod. I like their minimalist UI. I'm always puzzled how good these maps look in the Arma 3 engine. Makes me really wonder why they didn't use that engine, instead of rewriting the older RV3 engine. It really puzzles me, since they had to rewrite the entire thing anyway. Back to topic: - I'd really love the infected to come back. Without them the game is missing its main selling point. It's sad how little I care about all the other economies in the game. - I'd like to have a lada race around the map. So bring on the LADA - I always liked this jeep's shape. - would be cool to know more about the workbench and what we can actually craft there or where to find one. But it doesn't have t be in game. - I like base-building, so I'd be interested in its early iteration. Maybe try starting a trade post and see how long it takes until I'm attacked there. -> on that topic: it would be nice if we could craft flags, banners and signs in the future to either warn people or welcome them near our base.

Mad cows bro, mad cows.

One problem with your suggestion is that people would just log out in their sleeping bags or makeshift pine beds, instead of healing up. Which would make large parts of the infection and sickness "fun" of Dayz obsolete. Some mod, I think Origins, had sleeping in it, which basically restored all your blood; you could only do it in your house. It wasn't bad, but I must say these mechanics have this "click-a-button" magic that I think Dayz is trying to get rid of or make more complicated. As for the water - have you played recently? When it rains, it pours - you can fill a waterbottle and get completely hydrated by the rain alone. Then there are creeks, lakes and wells, so I don't think water is a big problem in Dayz. I would like to store water though, but only for fertilizing plants. Maybe it should be used for machining some parts later on, too. Finally, I think your post belongs in the suggestions thread, where you will find many similar and equally interesting or ambitious attempts to add new camps and other stuff to Dayz. If I could, I'd probably make 90% of it a reality ingame. But a lot of it seems really like additions the game doesn't need yet. I'm sure with the mods we will see some new maps, perhaps one that is more diverse or mostly desert. In a situation like that water storage would be crucial and probably camps would rather mass up water than weapons in such scenario. But in Chernarus with all its forests and rivers, storing freshwater will not play a role.

Dynami.... Scratch that, static truck spawns.
S3V3N replied to emuthreat's topic in General Discussion
The truck spawn in Msta is often getting overlooked. If I can't find the one near the farm in Staroye, I go to Msta. However, the most trucks I have ever seen (3) was in Stary Sobor, where I wish I knew what the fuck happened. One was halfway up to tent city. The other lay on its side on the main road. And the last one had only 3 tires, hood popped open and stood next to the hospital. Of course, only the one in Msta actually spawns there, but usually I go around the main roads and take a little time to look around and find a truck near Stary. The silly thing about trucks is I often find another one when I go fetching fuel or a tire repair kit for the one I actually wanted to repair. I have no idea how many trucks spawn now, but they don't seem really rare. It's just the law that you never find one when you are looking. Go looking for deer and you most certainly will find a truck ;) -
I'm really interested in the whole 3D printing thing, as I 3D-Model and keep thinking about tinkering with printing. However, the printers that seem reasonable are really expensive. The SLA quality looks awesome. Is there any forums you guys could recommend to get started with? I'd like to maybe find someone that's interested in printing some stuff that I model and going from there; I'd also model something they want to print. 3D printing is crazy stuff and definitely has tons of potential.

It stays, according to changelog notes up to 45 days. You need one if you want to process leather or bleach/color clothing. They are a lot easier to hide than tents, of course.

Supressing voice-chat outside of Dayz (Skype, Mumble, TS3, etc.)
S3V3N posted a topic in General Discussion
I wonder, if there is a way to somehow supress any voice-chat, except the one in-game. Or at least make visible that players are using voice-chat outside of the game. The other option would be to have the ingame voice on "always send", so that whatever you say can be heard by people around you, too. That could lead to serious feedback loops though, especially for people playing on speakers. The reason I ask is, because I would like to see a few servers that don't allow outside options for players to group up. I want all of this to happen on the spot, on the server and not offline and on recruitment forums. I also think this would make things much more hardcore and realistic, because irl I would hear what they are planning and shouting at each other, too. Would be interesting to know, if this could be supressed somehow. Even if only on a few servers, I think this could make the game and attitude towards kos quite different. -
I've been looking for modding topics and the main thread is locked. Why? Because it is still ages away from modding? I like the idea of an America Map and would like to start concepting and collecting ideas for a small prototype. However, I have never used Bohemias Editor before and would have to invest a lot of time into figuring everything out. I do have some decent experience with Unity and Unreal Engine, though. Ideally, I'd want to provide content and designs for environments only. I'm not US-American either (I'm German), so I'd need insight and feedback from third party (I'm talking to you Murica!). Hell, why am I making this so complicated? This is what concerns me: Will Dayz modding really be using mostly the same editors as Arma 2, or will we have to expect something different? It would really be helpful to get answers to some of the questions about the editors currently used for development. Where would I get started to inform me on such things. Maybe the Dayz devs can make a special insight vid or hire a documentary crew to do so. I always dig these videos, where they show people at work, but I'd like it more informative than for promotion. I'm sure the modding community will appreciate it, and modding will - in the end - make Dayz become a long-lived, multi-faceted beautiful beast ;)
