    Rabbit snares?

I think the actual tripwire works, but the grenades you attach don't blow up, yet. Good call, I should try that and see if it works now. Best things are the little things you don't know about. When I was fishing with a guy, he caught a pair of rubber boots ^^ The chances are like 4% or something even lower, but I had no idea about this at all. My face when it happened: oO I love small stuff like this and there is a lot more of it. Tripwires with grenades will be a great thing in the future. I hope we can set up more traps like that in the future to protect our camp/base. Especially if they could be made persistent too, so you don't lose them after every server restart.

    Rabbit snares?

I found mine on a hunting stand. I think they aren't that rare there, but I haven't seen them elsewhere, yet. But you can take any backpack for hunting. The pelts are 2x2 usually now. Not sure if all of them are, but they aren't too large to fit in regular backpacks.

This will also go a long way in establishing relationships among players from within the game. There is nothing wrong with people playing in self-organised groups that know each other beforehand, either through recruitment (clans) or simply by being befriended. However, it would be a narrow experience, if everyone chose to play only with their friends. I've always advocated a stronger ingame need for relationships/cooperation, as essentially that is one of the main reasons why not to shoot at everything. The cars are a good example for that: do you shoot someone at a car, or do you try to work something out with him, in order to get it repaired more quickly? Is he a source of information and is it worth killing him when he could be carrying parts you need (which would be ruined, then). It's all about weighing the arguments and the more options we have for that, the more qualified choices we can make. This could also lead to much bigger groups playing together than what we currently see. And they aren't necessarily all hostile. I'd like to be part of a tribe that chills a lot in the forests, builds camps for trade, has a homebase and some smaller outposts. I'd go looting, but not so much for military gear and I'd probably hardly run up and down the coast. Inland and north is where I am most of the time now anyway. I have better player encounters there and can try out new features of each experimental version at ease. I'm sure that like-minded players who would stumble over a makeshift settlement where they can relax, trade and hunt would be more than happy to re-visit and help expand this infrastructure. And for the military guys, there is not much to gain from raiding these places. And yet, you could always still have your own private stash somewhere and play the PvP game when you feel like heading down the coast. I like how there is more than one role, one playstyle in Dayz, but at the moment it really favors PvP over everything else. If I play a longer session, I quickly get bored or even exhausted by playing PvP. It's stressful to be shooting at people and to get shot at all the time ^^

    Guessing .60!

They'll finish the renderer, then add basebuilding and improved zombies. Because adding all of that only makes sense after there are the free resources to spend on these economies. If 0.60 isn't the final render update, the Beta will have to be postponed. They need to finish the renderer and it should take top priority from here on out, because otherwise the Alpha can't move onto its final stages, before the Beta.

That's the point. If I wanted realism, I'd go on a holiday. I've been hiking through Scotland, crossed over the Pyrenees on foot, climbed Austrias second hardest mountain (the Grimming ^^) and went canoeing in Sweden, in real life. I go fishing at the Elbe River and collect mushrooms in the forest. I make elderberry syrup every spring. And if I have to, I can skin a rabbit. However, I usually don't have to do any of that in my daily life. And it surely doesn't make me a better Dayz player. There is no relation between the things we do in RL and the capabilities we have in a game. However, there are things that can be displayed accurately enough in a game to make believe you are doing these things. And you don't have to die trying ;) I don't think we need to be making flint tools and the likes when there are axes and shovels lying around ^^ The amount of craftable and buildable things and structures should be limited to things that make sense.

    Rabbit snares?

Where you place it does influence the chances of catching a rabbit. I think in the woods it is lower than in fields, around rocks and on the edge of forests. You'd have to experiment. Most of all it is important that you stay out of a 100 meter radius after setting up the trap. If you have a camp or just a barrel, etc. it often lends itself to set up a trap, shortly before you arrive there. And then go check it out, once you threw your gear in the barrel and organised things. I've waited between 5-10 minutes every time I used a trap and quite often caught a rabbit. Most of the time I tried putting a trap in a forest I didn't find it again ^^ so that's one reason to prefer fields and near rocks. It's rather a gadget at the moment, but still nice it works. With the amount of food in every second house there is no real need to roast rabbit legs. At least you get some pelt this way, too.
  7. S3V3N

Change the names of these food items please

I keep thinking that every time I see those cans, too :) I thought maybe it was a Czech thing and they actually have tuna in sardine cans and vice versa. But that makes no sense :) Good call!

Keep the faith! I bought the game when V3S were first introduced and it made leaps forwards since then. There was a pretty long phase where I thought the game wasn't moving forward (when they introduced the CLE first and we had lootexplosions and problems all over). Then hunting was introduced and the trucks were fixed. Tanning and dyeing were fixed and barrels added as addtional way to store stuff. All of these additions I appreciate! I don't think there was even fishing when I bought the game. 2015 was a good year for Dayz, don't let their overly ambitious goals from the beginning of the year blind you. Devs are doing their job and despite a fairly small team, they are pretty dedicated and seem to work together very well now. With Arma's modding history and the amount of people interested in it, I guess we'll see these kind of developments we talk about in some way or the other. It'll probably be years from now, though. But I'll still be playing Dayz in three years, even five. I've had so much fun with Arma and Dayz is a lot more interesting for me. I want to stick to it and be part of the modding community (I model 3D stuff). I hope I'll find the time and the team to make some cool stuff a reality. But overally I think what the devs will be giving us, is going to be a pretty sweet game and a unique experience. Probably not as much crafting and living of the land as we want, but Dayz is all about the mix for me. Sometimes I wanna go for PvP, most of the time, I just want to explore, build and scavenge or hunt.

Yes, I'm sure we'll see those kind of shelters, too. In fact, I'd like a whole range of them in the game. But why shouldn't there be mud-huts? Like was said above, they can need significant effort to build, but once they are there they persist and can be used by all for crafting and shelter. Whereas the idea of your kind of shelter seems equally to be protected and to be hidden. That one would be much easier and faster to build. The alternative to it would be finding a tarpaulin and spreading it out between trees. Then there could be a next step of shelter, which is more visible, but also more protective, like this: And finally, there could be the clay huts, which need the most tools, resources and time to build, but have great functionality (used for shelter, sleeping, cooking, crafting, dyeing, drying food, smoking meat/fish, tanning leather, etc.) I'm really thinking about this a lot now. Modding is always gonna be interesting for this kind of stuff. Imagine a new map that has no or nearly no buildings and infrastructure and you start out healthy and with a backpack of (random) useful items. From there on you could go around killing others for their items and surviving short term (from day to day), or trying to cooperate and build up infrastructure and revive old industry, maybe start building a rural town. The advantage would be there aren't thousands of items to mess up the game from the start (since there are no cities). Everything would be player build and then it could spawn something or be used for crafting something. That would be an awesome game. Strongly based on melee and bow/ranged type of weapons and natural recipes for remedies and such. It'd be kind of a modern version of the Tribe life. Far from what we'll get in DayZ. I also doubt we will see much more of the crafting and survival elements. But we can hope and we can make ourselves. This would be an interesting mod, because on a map with nothing on it from the start, iterative development would appear a very natural process as more and more elements are added when your civilisation advances. Perhaps at some point, they'll be back to firearms, but they would be primitive, single shot and powder/bullet combinations. This hut thing got a whole lot of ideas popping up. I might change the direction of what I wanted to work on as a mod and think more into the direction of rebuilding civilisation from scratch. Occasionally, there would be resources in the form of cargo containers washed on the beach or boats that drift ashore. Those items would be great for trading and giving you an edge on developing some structuresor advanced tools. So a guy who finds this loot would be able to assume kind of a specialist role or trade his tools for someone else's to take on that role (e.g. carpenter tools -> trade for Toolbox => become mechanic). I'm gonna stop here. This fascinates me though ^^
  10. I think you're a bit optimistic about the scope of the game. I'm pretty sure we won't see territories, etc. There is basebuilding in the mod and it pretty much just means: I have too much stuff and need walls to protect it. At its core Dayz will always be a shooter and everybody knows shooters are played best in 1p. However, it is also a cinematic experience. We are used to watching upon our heroes through shows such as the Walking Dead; we are not used to being them. So the difference of views may be explained through the simple fact, that most people prefer a camera view upon their character, instead of a first person (his) view. I'd be careful to put too much hope into what Dayz can become. We know all its features - that's why there is a design doc and the quarterly goals, which are never met. A lot of those things, e.g. companion animals aren't even in the game and might get scrapped on the long run. I'm pretty sure we'll rather see a reduction of features than an expansion, as they have to push this game into Beta and can't continiously add new functionality.
  11. We should perhaps take away that some things are best left the way that people are used to. Those who want 1p will always have the opportunity to play that way. If I want to play with others they don't force me to use TS. It is my decision and I chose not to. Why would it be bad, if all the official servers were 1p? Like was said before - there are 1000 private servers to chose from, too. I use a mouse that came with my monitor and a Microsoft wired keyboard ^^. I can play the game just right, though my right mouse button is a pain to use. I don't see myself at a disadvantage and if I wanted to, I could upgrade my hardware at least to some extend. It's personal preference what you play with or how you play. And if people want to miss out on playing 1p, they can. It's their loss, I'd say.

Omg - that picture is awesome! Even better is the addition of a parrot and an AK with bayonet+scope all in one picture! WHAT were they thinking? I can't stop laughing. Really makes me wonder, if it was somehow an inspiration for Kenny Powers in Eastbound and Down ( https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/c/c4/KennyPowers.jpg). Yeah, I didn't mean for the huts to be an easy thing to build, but it could be an alternative to tents for those that prefer the hunting lifestyle. In Dayz we have a lot of things that can be achieved either by crafting or by looting. I expect the new storage crates to be a craftable alternative to barrels and tents. This could be similar with mud huts and such, except they'd need a bit of work and some tools to build (e.g. pickaxe for gathering big stones, axe for wood, shovel for clay, hemp for cordage...). The guy in the video is a bit of a maniac, I think :) He lives in Australia - home to some of the deadliest animals in the world - yet he always runs around bare foot and bare chested and merrily builds one hut after the next. That's true deditation, heh! Imagine in Dayz when someone starts a mudhut and someone else comes by and helps him. Then they decide they need another hut for the second guy. And a couple of days later a third guy arrives... we could have player made villages that way. Without the protection of a base, but with enough common ground, so that people who have a hut there would leave each other alone, or even protect each other, do trades, hunt etc. It could just mean another form of interaction among players that doesn't require playing in a big group, in order to build a base. The problem with tents is and will always be that they can be taken. It can happen that people just empty your tent, in order to take the best stuff and the tent itself. Those huts however, would stay and need only some maintenance and care. I don't think they should even have a permanent inventory, just means to bake pottery, dry food and cook; a lake for fishing and water nearby. I'm sure there could be a natural alternative to dyeing leather in barrels, too. Just another cool craftable to add to the hut: tanning basin; so they'd be kinda upgradable, but would always be open to anyone. Finding a hut like that with a place to dye could also mean that there is game in the area. And not least of all, it will provide shelter during rainfall. I think these huts should only be buildable in the vicinty of water, since it makes sense B) deer only seems to spawn near lakes. Clay will be easier to dig up there and water is required for building. You started a great idea with these huts! I think they have several disadvantages over a tent, but then again they have several advantages over barrels and bases. Even if just one or two people build the hut, all players who find it could benefit from it. It would be nice, if there was a place to leave a note, say thanks or request a trade.
  14. Battleye just checks a number of programs that are known threats, but the list could be added to, in order to include Teamspeak, Skype, etc. They would probably have to add that in a disclaimer, so you agree to the process. If a developer decides he doesn't want any of this in their game, why would it be legal (on the other hand) for TS etc. to force its use? All of these are non-commercial applications, as far as regular users go. So I don't see why supressing them in a particular commercial program/game would be illegal. However, my point was more to illiustrate that there are other means that unbalance the game, yet 1p players don't stray from using these means/programs either. So the argument that 1p is a better balanced way to play the game is a bit like saying: playing the game only with direct speech is the better way to play. People have their habits from other games and won't break into new ways of playing, unless they are forced to. I much prefer it, when the choice comes naturally, because they see that it's not all about winning the game, but enjoying it more. Enjoyment however is highly subjective and a matter of each person's gaming history. Personally, I've always hated playing with Teamspeak, even in the mod days. It makes things easier, but it takes away a lot of the atmosphere for my taste. The best people I've played with used direct and only spoke when they had to or where it was safe, whereas TS is like a never-ending phone call.
  15. Don't get me wrong - I am in favor of 1p servers and if there weren't so few experimental 1p servers, I would play it most of the time. However, the argument is like the argument about using Teamspeak versus direct. TS gives you a huge advantage, because you can silently make plans, while your victim is still unaware of you. You can also chat with each other in high risk locations without anyone noticing. These are all considerable advantages and Battleeye could be tweaked to recognize VOIP outside of Dayz and disable it or simply not start the game when it is running. Since battleye checks periodically ingame also, these people would get kicked, even if they managed to join. Technically there would be the option to supress outside communication. So from a gaming standpoint it would be much better, if everyone was forced to use direct and the radios. Never gonna happen! In the end, it's about what choices we want to make for ourselves. I will play both modes, because I like playing two different characters and I know my friends - who are still rookies - won't play anything but Third Person. I think people on this thread have good intentions, but we can't force other people into accepting 1st person as the holy grail of DayZ. It's an adjustment and some will overcome it and start enjoying 1p, but most will always stick to playing 3p. The only thing that bothers me is that all of those who so fervently defend third person have probably never played first person for a couple of days. You completely forget about 3rd person after a while and it really feels like the game was meant to be played that way. I think it's good we have both options and will continue to enjoy them both. If I want a challenge, I'll go first person. If I want to live easy, I go third.
  16. The thing I'm actually hoping for is that this will become a blessing in the end. I have already explained how I like having two characters - one on 3rd, one on 1st player. This way you can have a character to muck around with and one for serious camp-making and survival. The other thing however is that most dickheads play on 3rd person (e.g. all Twitchers). That's not a generalisation of the 3rd person player, but an observation I've made from experience. People on 3rd person often want to play a shooter, not the survival experience. They don't care that much about their character and just want to get geared and good to go shooting; of course there are many others, but that is the majority. The 1p players are somewhat more approachable, though they can be really hard to befriend. A lot of lone wolves on 1p, lot of groups on 3p. If you manage to get friendly with someone on 1p, it's very likely you'll camp together, go looting and explore. It's more of a journey than coming to play a game of PvP. I got a lot better memories of 1p servers than 3p. And that's fine with me. Let the common players bang each other up on 3p, get the more experienced guys on 1p. Doesn't matter, how many hours you clocked on Dayz. If you never played a significant amount of 1p, you can't understand why we defend 1p so fiercely. It may seem absurd, but such a small detail can mean a very different game experience.

    My 0.59 Vehicle Adventure

"I offered him a ride..." reply: "Nah, I can't trust people.!" That's one type of DayZ gamer. Maybe we should start collecting the different DayZ personalities we've met, in another thread :) I was quite surprised you survived that, too. What a sweet ride the Lada is - and who hasn't turned it upside down or put on two wheels ^^? Videos like this might encourage people to play more friendly, since it can be a win-win for everyone. It's also a lot more creative than just shooting everything. If it happens, like at the end and around a police station, it comes naturally. Still funny, how Runningmanz can't stand still even without a weapon in your hands. It's imprinted behaviour now. Funny is - I was watching Runningmanz stream, while this happened and just heard the whole thing from his side. I still can't believe how well you got around with that car. Of course the "killme, killme" guy had to show up, too ^^ That's another type of DayZ gamer. This one was funnier than the usual ones, but I still find it annoying they can't kill themselves and leave me alone. --- About your video. The mix was good, the font was good to read and nice size. The only thing I didn't like was the spacing at the beginning; you changed the tracking on it, which made the spaces between letters too large. Fonts are made to look best in their custom tracking, so it's usually recommended to leave it this way. I could have done with less music. It's nice to highlight certain scenes to add to the atmosphere, but you could fade out again. That piano ballad was a bit much for me. Your mapflights are too fast and barely visible. Either make them slower or use a really well-visible color to show the routes. Also might wanna turn gamma back down for the mapflights. This is criticising on a very high level, as I think you've done a wonderful job, overall! --- This is what DayZ is about. It could almost be an educational video ^^ I always thought, vehicles would bring a change and more cooperation between people. Generally, most people on the experimental servers seem to agree with that kind of gameplay, let's hope on stable it can become the same. I have some RL friends, who never played the mod and don't do anything else in Dayz, except run to military, get guns, go somewhere - play deathmatch. That can be fun sometimes, but why the hell would you get a game like DayZ for that? It's all about the journey for me and there are no better journeys than those you don't have to go alone. P.S.: I've done some editing with After Effects in the past. What did you use for your video editing? You could also PM me. I don't have After Effects any more, so I would like to find an affordable replacement.
  18. But not like that. In most games the head-bobbing is far from realistic and just goes around in weird circles. Arma series was one of those games.
  19. You know you can turn head-bobbing off, right? That's what gets most people sick in 1st person. I like to have it on just a little bit. If the server isn't laggy and frames are good, there are no motion sickness problems for me. Personally, I like to switch between the views. I play 3rd person in wide open field and woods, but first person in cities. I don't like shooting at people in third person and the time it takes to transition between the views can be the time to get you killed. I'll definitely be playing both - third and first person. What often gets overlooked is that this way, you can play two different characters and develop them completely differently. I switched between views in Arma too and found it much easier to drive in third person (since military vehicles often have a very restricted field of view from the inside). I don't really see the need to do that in DayZ and actually prefer the interior view in cars. It takes a while to accept 1st person, but when I get used to it, I often prefer it over third person. Can't really explain why. It just feels right to me.

    Primitive Technologies

It's interesting, how comparably new players seemingly find similar things they want to improve upon (and I agree with most of it), yet also each adds something really original. About pottery - yes it could be interesting if you could burn your own clay and make, e.g. bricks from it. Check out this wonderful video and the beautiful mud hut that was build: He also makes clay pots and containers in another video. I'd prefer this over a tent any day, because it is less visible, looks cool, is crafted and can become a meeting/tradepoint rather than a base camp where even your tents will get stolen. Maybe some small villages would be created this way. Dayz devs planned (glas) jars and drying racks to preserve food. I think it will be more sparce in the future and hopefully decay (even the cans). Their whole idea is more about grandmother technologies ;) than about stoneage ones. I'd love slingshots for e.g. chicken or rabbit hunt. They are slightly too fast to catch them when running, but I don't want to fire off a shot from a rifle and expose my position for a little bit of meat and feathers. It would also be cool, if we could break windows with slingshots (as a distraction) or shoot paintballs. I play the experimental version and you have to eat a lot more and drink even more often to stay healthy. It's still no big deal, but I find myself taking breaks more often - and enjoying it. It's true about stuff respawning. You can just loot a small remote village where nobody goes, until the items spawn you need. That just requires a little patience. The CLE is still in development or rather in tweaking stages and I can imagine, they will stop stuff from respawning so quickly, in the future. What annoys me a lot is that the loot engine switches loot around. So the loot you found in one place isn't there when you return. That's not the persistency that I was hoping for. KOS - people are plain stupid. Unless you get a headshot off, nearly everything on a dead body is ruined anyway. With sparcity and more effort to stay alive, hopefully people will start to think about trading more. However, nothing hinders anyone to kill me during or right after a trade, so I think there needs to be some penalty for breaking trust like that. I don't like to sanction people for playing a certain way in DayZ, but we need better and more reasons to keep someone alive and do trade with him again. Who's that in your avatar? I like the shades and the hockey hair ^^ Must be a true 80's idol, but reminded me of Kenny Powers. Cool pic :)

The feels when you get DayZ'ed

That sliding happened to me on a different roof (garage), too - but it was in the DayZ mod a couple of months ago! It seems this issue has persevered. I'll make sure not to climb that ladder. Thanks for the heads-up!
  22. Awesome! Two weeks means you still have places to explore, I guess. This map is crazy in size and quite beautiful! There are a few gadgets you might not know about. Here are some that I know: - when you dig for worms (near water, using a knife) there is a chance you'll dig up a cooking pot - when you fish there is a small percentage that you will catch some boots; I've seen it happen once, the message is: "I have caught...something." - inside the cornflake boxes is a plastic compass. After you finish eating them you have a small chance of finding one. - guts can be used as a replacement for rope, e.g. to craft a string for the bow (use long stick + guts), guts can work as a heatpack when you are cold. You can also put them and cans/stones in a fire to heat them up again. Quite handy when you got drenched and get hypothermia. There is probably more little stuff like that and I find it awesome to have such detail! I think other parts of the game will get their in-depth treatment, but it will take a while. Obviously there will be drying racks and other ways to preserve food. I hope the infected get the in-depth treatment as well, but the devs have stated that the current system is a mere placeholder. Among infected features will be: - infected wearing regular clothes and backpacks - " are lootable for items and clothing - " will roam the map, much like how the animal AI does it, but in much larger groups/herds I don't know how scary they can become, but what I know is that the infected in the mods were a lot more alert and dangerous. They also came in bigger numbers and hitting felt more accurate (despite still being bad). I expect the standalone to surpass this, but at the moment, infected are a feature that is underdeveloped. You came to the game at a good time. It's still affordable and a lot of good changes were made. Also impressive that you made it onto the experimental right away. A good decision, though this version will become really good, once it his stable and we can build our camps to last longer.
  23. S3V3N

What are the best towns to loot in DayZ?

You still don't have to snipe them, unless they pose a thread. A good sniper should not be seen or get near bambis anyway. They have nothing to lose against a guy with a scoped rifle and will do anything to get it. However, since the new spawnpoints have been introduced not so many people spawn in Cherno now anyway. It's hard to judge, who is a worthy target. Generally, you can fire a warning shot. If they run away, they are no trouble, if they come closer to investigate, put them down ;) The reason to snipe people and preferably by headshot, is to loot them, like someone said. So you have little to gain from ungeared peeps anyway.
  24. I actually keep confusing "infected" with "zombies" - well in a way zombies are infected, however not like the Dayz ones. So the idea of Infected Personality is quite good. It would make them actively seeking nearby sources of food or water, much like the NPCs in other (good) games go about their day and do their work. I like it! Some ideas puzzle me, because they are already in the game. You can go to any house that has a fireplace with a fire-kit in your hand and place it there! You can cook on a stick in front of it, too. I was looking for some uber-suggestions thread in my posting history, but gave up after going back nearly thirty pages. I found some other links to suggestions, you may find interesting by themselves though: https://forums.dayzgame.com/index.php?/topic/228652-coastal-clam-digging/ https://forums.dayzgame.com/index.php?/topic/168414-more-russian-vehicles/ https://forums.dayzgame.com/index.php?/topic/221795-honeycombs-food-and-beeswax/?hl=honey If I ever find the thread I'm looking for, I'll post a link. I think there are many good suggestions from a lot of people, but we must not forget that the devs have their own agenda. And they are behind it as it is. So I doubt, they will put up with features that aren't in the Alpha's Development Document, yet. We might see a lot of these refined ideas enter during Beta stage, though. I think as soon as all the systems are stable and the game runs like it should, there will be reason to deal with making it more interesting. That's when we have to remember our ideas from now, so I appreciate a thread that sums things up in a nice way and fosters the discussion.

DayZ SA Modding: A New Map

It would be cool, if Bohemia would release these assets on the DayZ workshop to be used for modding! It's an awesome looking map and it seems they have either conquered the problem with models popping up (LOD), or they just made it look good for the trailer. Amazingly though even a Bohemia trailer can't run without frame chopping... Also, please remember that ripping content from other games is illegal without prior consent from the creators; the problem with that is they can also revoke their consent. It's what happened with a project of mine (Duke Nukem Reloaded), which was first approved of by Gearbox, but as their release of DNF drew near they canned our fan project. Because it looked too good ^^ I love this place! A lot of other ideas would be great, for example I'd love a downtown city map or a version of "Arlington" (Washington City suburb with the huge army graveyard). However, we already see the frames dropping severely in the comparable small cities we have now. A city map is not a good idea for a first modding experience, but I think we could make a smaller part of a city and block it off to the center, so at least you could loot the outskirts; at least it would look awesome! I'd also like something completely different, like Japan, for example. But that would mean dense city areas again... What I like about Mackinac Island is that there is a nice, but not huge assortment of interesting places there. It would be possible to get a lot of information about the area, probably even a heightmap and sat imagery for the actual mapping process. On top of that, I could imagine survivor camps added to the existing locations and some camping spots in the forest. There could also be a lot of stranded boats or an ocean liner nearby to explore that has a full zombie crew; that would require some character modeling work, perhaps. Also, the survivors would probably wear lighter robes and short pants, etc. since we're not in the depressing rainscape of Chernarus any more. It would be a more colorful apocalypse :P The only thing I don't like about the island is that it has no mountains. Perhaps it would be legit to change that and add at least one peak with, e.g. an observatory to create another point of interest. On the whole, I think a lot could be done to the place with a little bit of tweaking. My choice for a map would be Arkansas or Oregon coast. Especially Oregon coast has this solemn and depressing beauty we know from movies like "the road". The main problem will be creating all those new models needed and getting them to work ingame. I can model and texture, but I'm not gonna learn yet another game engine. I think when the time is right, I'll try to find a group to work with, so I can supply models, but others do the integration. It will be faster to work like that anyway. Looking forward to all the great stuff about to come! I want an america map, too. Even if it would be kinda generic, like in State of Decay it would still be awesome! But then there is a lot of things to think about: new vehicles are among them, but we can probably use some from ArmaII and I've seen modded muscle cars, etc. for it. So, provided we can get the approval of their creators, the first task should be to make a list of assets and find out, how many we can get that are already finished and need minor tweaking to work in Dayz. P.S.: I hav no idea why some of the text turned white. Sorry about that!
