I think the problem is that the game doesn't recognize the item as a class item, but as individual item. I noticed that with magazines, too. Whenever I have several magazines of the same kind and only put one on the hotbar, it will "use" the magazine I dropped to the hotkey and not reload any subsequent ones. It's a bit of a hassle. I'm still waiting for a proper quiver for the bow with maybe 10-15 arrows in it, before it makes sense. I read however that if you load arrows into a quiver and use the crossbow, they magically turn into bolts and only when you pick them up, appear as arrows again (that was with composite arrows, not sure if crafted ones can be used, too). The crossbow just takes so long to reload, otherwise I would probably be using it a lot more. It's realistic, but I wish it would be a bit quicker when you load 5 bolts from the quiver into it. It can only be used for hunting, imho. The game works in mysterious ways, turning arrows into bolts and back again :) At least there'll be no shortage of crossbow ammo, until that is fixed...

Yeah, I was surprised, too. I'm not sure if I painted the magazine, too, I think it's just a black one I found. However, I got a little black pony gun by my side to complete my outfit ^^. This is not how I currently look, but it's the only screenshot I have with the weapon. It's stupidly difficult to show the weapon you're actually carrying, but I guess you know that, too. Here is a post from my inventory with the two AK-S side by side. It also says AKS-U black in the description, which is a nice touch: >>EDIT<<: I just tried and painted the other rifle and magzine and it worked on both. So I did paint that other magazine, originally.

Okay, I wasn't around for that hotfix, so I apologise if the scopes have been fixed, in the meantime. I only saw there was a final patch on the 21st, today. It still is a lot more difficult to procure ammo and magazines for the AUG, though. And I'm not a huge fan of the scoped weapons, but that is personal preference (I took the scope off my VSS). According to the Wiki, the DPS on UMP and MP5 are identical (which is weird, because in the description the UMP clearly takes the lead) and there is no info on the AKS-74U or the AKS74 DPS there. Logically, the bigger caliber should have a higher penetration than 9mm or 45 cal bullets. The UMP may be better in many ways, but I'm usually not finding a lot of magazines for it and prefer to keep the 45cal ammo for my sidearms. All I can say is I killed people with SKS, MP5, AKM and shotgun with an AKS-U, and I've come to trust the rifle. It absolutely obliterated everything I shot at close range. It tends to be somewhat less accurate than e.g. the MP5 and the magazines for AKs are harder to come by and only found on military sites. I used to scorn that rifle and never even picked it up in previous patches, but its versatility and the amount of ammo you can get in comparably low risk areas outweighs the negatives. I haven't even died (to players), since 0.59 was introduced on stable. So maybe I'm a bit biased, but for such a small rifle it sure packs a punch and has a great variety of attachments. It also looks cool in black, which of course is the main reason to get one ;)

No, it didn' disappear. It's a common problem with a stupidly simple solution - as long as you still have it on a hotkey/can see it there, you can draw the gun by tapping the hotkey; sometimes you have to try a couple of times. If you think you lost a gun, but still see it on your hotkey bar, it will magically re-appear ;) The AUG isn't good at the moment, because every other time the scope is glitched (as are all scopes, except the LRS and PU, it seems). My favorite choice is the AKS-U, because it fits in most backpacks and can always be carried as a secondary when you find an AKM/AK74 with mags for it. They are also pretty powerful, because you have the assault rifle caliber with the size of a weaker UMP or MP5; there is also plenty of ammo (FOX) for it in every police station. I've had a Steyr and a double-mag for it, but the double mag was pretty much the only good thing at that chopper crash and I found it about a week later than the rifle.

Ok, the new animation engine uses locomotion and human IK. That will do a lot of things, like more natural (procedural) transition over objects and collisions with them, not stopping to pull out another weapon + overall more fluent animation blending. The DX11 renderer, on the other hand, means that they step up from DX9 - which was a 32bit system only able to use 8 Gigabyte of memory at most, to a 64bit system, which is able to make better use of all your leet PCs, which have 64 Gigabyte of currently completely useless memory ;) A 64bit server is hugely faster than the old 32 ones and thus costs more in the hire. So that's an investment into the future and a huge step up for the game. I find Dayz looks differently all the time. For example, we now see atmospheric fog, which makes the game a lot more pretty on long viewing distance. I also notice trial and error with when the different detail models (LOD) are loaded for the player. Those features will be added. I just pray the devs DON'T make a roadmap for the public this year, because all they achieve with it is the feeling of being massively behind their development goals and giving people and oportunity to grief. The game is quite good now, even though it is flawed. But the time to get rid of the kinks is not the Alpha, that's what Beta is for. For now, we'll see more functionality added without it necessarily working flawlessly. Expect more bugs and problems, but don't assume nothing is getting done!

I guess you are one of the people, who bought the WarZ and praised it for being the better game? Until it became painfully clear that nothing can compare to Dayz and that these developers are actually dedicated to creating a completely new gaming experience. Just admit it ;) That being said, I find myself puzzled by this announcement. I listed the exact same features as a reason why Dayz is not gonna make its Beta (1.0) release by the time they projected it. A decent experimental version takes 2-3 months now and usually introduces one new (main) feature at a time; and then it takes another 2 months to iron out the kinks. Realistically, the Beta should begin in Fall 2016 - which is fine for me. In my opinon they would do better without discrediting themselves half of the time, because the work done on the game is outstanding in many ways. By giving false hope repeatedly correcting goals and schedules, the devs just make themselves and the game subject to attacks that are completely unnecessary. Sure, it would be great to see a Spring/Summer Release date for the Beta and revive the game for another couple of millions of sales. But what they don't seem to get is that by their policies and announcements they are not inspiring more people to buy the game, they are raising scepticism about Dayz's value, as a whole. This should not be happening! I agree that much of it is PR, but it's achieving the opposite effect of what good PR does: the people, who blindly love the game already will jump in to declare anyone a troll and the people, who are sceptical get even more arguments against the development. I find myself often torn about this, because I want the game to succeed and I am having fun with it, most of the time. Yet, I also see the problems and recurring bugs that seem to be in an on/off relationship with each new update; things I thought were fixed come back to haunt me once more. In the end, it is a personal decision and none that PR will influence anyway. You either play the game, cope with the problems and enjoy what you get, or you bicker about promised features and delayed schedules. The latter of which could be easily avoided, if the devs finally tried to be more realistically about meeting their timetables - or not meeting them. Just like with the mod, word of mouth will be the final selling argument for the game; I see this as an honest development, so I don't see why we need PR that borders on being a lie. I can do without it and rather have no information or silently working PR through good maintenance of changelogs, projected goals and features (without a set date to them). But I guess PR just isn't a thing Bohemia is good at. At all.

The car tends to slide out of the tent, if even placed at the slightest angle (after restarts). The tent itself however, is awesome! I use them all the time. From a distance ~ 100 meters they are invisible and pop up just when you are close enough. And due to the color, it's more likely to get missed than a civilian tent. Works great in a group of pine trees. Another awesome thing is that you can actually place a civilian tent inside it, adding extra inventory and hiding that tent, too. I have some barrels in mine aswell - there is plenty of space in that tent! Wouldn't advise putting cars into anything at the moment. You never know where they end up, it's a tragedy ;) You can also find military tents in the apartment houses now, so if you don't want the car tent, pick up one of those. I'm not sure they fit into any inventory, except the car's inventory at the moment, though. So you have to pitch it, if you can't store it and don't want it to despawn. Tents are cool! I love making bases. About persistency. Yes, they should be! However, there is an unresolved problem with some server hosts, which seemingly aren't persistent. Best way to check, is to pitch the tent, wait for a restart and if it's still there, you're good to start camping!

Yeah, well - game logic ;) I would like to cook meat on rocks, for example. You can even cook meat directly on the ambers, irl. The heat sterilzes the surface and you just brush off the ashes before eating. Spitroast would also be nice to have for larger chunks of deer or entire rabbits/chicken. As far as I am concerned, cooking is one of the things that is already pretty deep and well-developed, though. I'd rather see them concentrate efforts on some of the more pressing matters. But it would surely be nice to have better options in the future. To be fair though, cooking is pretty neat and sitting around a fire with a bunch of your mates beats opening a can of beans together ;) One simple addition I would like to see if that we can sterilize/cook water when we put a canteen on the embers or on the fire.

I just checked back on the Wiki and it seems like I was mistaken or the info has been updated in the meantime. The only faults I can find are that the Vintorez is said to have last been in version 0.57 and that there is no 20 round mag for it: http://dayz.gamepedia.com/VSS_Vintorez The other thing, I'll have to check ingame is the ammo type for the SVD. I haven't had an SVD in a long time, but doesn't it use 7.62x39, instead of 7.62x54 rounds? And don't the Izh 18 rifles actually use the 7.62x54 or even .308 now? I'm either confusing a lot of ammo types (memory error), or the information isn't quite right. Also broom and canoe paddle aren't in the game currently. I'm not sure if they'll ever return (perhaps when boats/canoes are introduced?) It's a Wiki after all, you won't have to contribute alone. I just thought, if you go through all this - much appreciated - effort, it might as well be used to expand and update the Wiki-page.

I never pick up the Mosin - NEVER :) What I wonder though, is: after you saw it off, can you still use the PU scope on it? It may not make much sense (except some people really like aiming through a scope rather than ironsights), but it would really look funky. Have you tried that one out? Maybe add this to the list for completion sakes. I'm curious about the CR527. It seems like such an odd mix of army and hunting rifle + it can take the LRS. I love the rifle and how it looks and loads, but I almost never take it, for its lack of magazines available in the world. It's a pity that you can run up to an army base and come out with two complete assault rifles, yet for the civilian rifles you have to run around for days to get them complete. In the future, hopefully we'll see that idea of spawning them with mags+ammo sometimes. This is a great effort from your side, but will you also be updating this to the Dayz Wiki? I think the Wiki is far behind when it comes to gun updates at the moment. Some info isn't even correct any more and the Vintorez and Red9 (and others, I think) still appear as "future features".

Just for completion sakes: - you can also make a firebarrel (poke holes into barrel with axe/knife), place a firekit inside and put a cooking pot on top! To cook anything inside the pot, it needs to contain either lard or a sufficient amount of water - you can use a camping cooker (blue gas canister + cooker attachment) + put a cooking pot on that. - if you want to make the stone oven, you need to use the pickaxe and harvest big rocks, first. These can be broken down into smaller ones (for the fireplace), too. Then drag the pot on top of the oven . Best and easiest way, is making a fire and putting your food on a long stick. Watch it get cooked and remove from the stick after the second phase of cooking. I think if it gets too dark or is too raw, there is a minor chance of sickness. But any cooked meat should be fine to eat; fish too, of course! You can also cook all vegetables, they change model now, too.

The fix is an actual realtime physics system that is the goal for the standalone/beta. Talk is cheap though (and they do a lot of it), but let's see/hope the devs deliver on that.
-
I've tanned pelts too. And there wasn't any water in the barrel. I've never had to add water when tanning before, either. Very strange.

I think what Ori42 wrote is probably right. I only died to this once recently. It was still in 0.59 experimental and I ran up the small blue ramp on the TEC industrial building (the one with the blue roofs + ramps). I had a strong feeling it placed me on the roof on top of me, instead on the actual ramp for a second (though it wasn't visible). Very confusing stuff, but it happening so often to you is odd. The name change is even weirder. Maybe change your habits for now. There is nothing upstairs that can't be found downstairs as well. If you use NewUI you also see what is on the floors above you and can often even pick it up from the ground (bug).

I'm full, game over ;) As always, starting screen is showing a magazine from my backpack and never the one I'm using - also no buttstock visible (as per usual too...) To spell it out: Steyr Aug + 60 mag AKM + 2x30+1x75 mag (barrel mag) AKS-U Black + Magazine AKS-U + 2 Magazines 1911 + 2 Magazines FNX+1 Magazine ...more Ammo in the barrels and some guns I don't use (UMP 45 and Blaze). Shot 9 people since 0.59 stable started without getting killed, yet. I almost always try talking and they never reply. ---a day later--- I don't like the derpski-looking Gorka helmet and my goal was to be completely black with this character (down to black AK+mags). I did it with crafting today, but I'll try switching the "black" (brown) leather backpack for a drybag and getting a black high-cap vest. Shame the leather stuff can't actually get really dark black. Say goodbye to Derpski Helmet for now ;) I worked for this outfit by staying alive and collecting for a week ;) ---today's final and now I'm off for the holidays :)---

There is no negative criticism - just constructive criticism ;) If you repair the wheels, the bus stops sliding and accelerates better. Unfortunately, double-wheels cannot be repaired - but you can find pristine ones. I liked this guy gave thumbs up as a hitchhiker gesture - very creative :)! Also nice with the guy on the silo, who you saved (from respawning). That actually gave me the idea to try if I can get on a bus to "surf" it ^^ Gonna try that! That guy panicking after the flashbang - priceless:)! I will never shoot at a bus on the coast, because this is what buses should be used for! Hell, I'll probably never shoot at a bus, even if it passes me! What I want to try next, is to put a defibrillator and epi-pen in the bus, so if someone survives an assault, they could perhaps revive you! Another good idea seems to be to have two guards with you, who get out whenever the bus stops. This way you are less vulnerable to attacks and idiots. (passengers get off faster than the driver) Do you know, if a fire barrel can be moved? Then you could just always take it along in the bus' inventory. Better mix with the music this time and the fonts look good, sometimes the people were a bit hard to hear, because the engine is so loud. You can always turn down the engine sounds a little bit when driving (or turn VOIP up some more.) Nice to see so many people together! Enjoying your videos as always!

No, they are persistent. Unless a new patch is uploaded on Wednesday, we should be enjoying these tents and barrels for 45 consecutive days, if I'm not mistaken.
-
The audio is garbled for me, but thanks for testing. I think tripwires on their own work, right (they trip you)? Bit anticlimactic with that grenade not going off. Could you pick the nade up again, or was it gone?
-
Ahhh, Puhdado, isn't that the living beard ;)? I watched his streams just to figure out what the hell he's saying when someone subscribes. I don't think he's a particularly good player though and half the time he's relating information about Dayz that isn't up to date anymore. Seems like the guy, who would steal a car... I love the chaos in Cherno at the moment, but I've never seen so many armed people in one place there. You're a good player, great situational awareness! And that was a damn good shot across the ironsights. Perfect timing!

Do Zombies Dream Of A Good Nights Sleep? (Zombie feedback)
S3V3N replied to SmashT's topic in General Discussion
I'm sick and tired of you. When will they fix you? -
I can't wait to watch a bunch of infected chase a herd of cows towards a pack of wolves and see who will win ^^

It wouldn't be that easy. You could still find single tires elsewhere, but if you want the lot, you go to the warehouse/storage/mall/hardware shop, or whatever we want to call the place. Think of this, like a military building - but for tires and vehicle parts. If only a few of them are on the map and they are positioned nearly equally far from certain vehicle spawns around them, these structures would have a lot of traffic and be somewhat dangerous; they could also be a good oportunity to meet other people, who also are rebuilding cars. Personally, I keep thinking of scrapyards and wasteyards and such, where they always have huge stacks of tires and cars sitting around ready for wrecking. We have tiny scrapyards that look more like parking lots with a lot of rusty cars on them. We could have some real scrapyards with quite a lot of space to cover and explore and they could have heaps of metal and parts, next to stacks of old cars, tires, spare parts, etc. A goodsource for metal, so it'd probably be a useful place to check when basebuilding, too. The scrapyard might also be a place to find a tow truck or a bed for the V3S that turns it into a tow truck. On top of it all a scrapyard could be an awesome place for fights and simply be very interesting to see and explore. I'd like a proper scrapyard design and for it to be added to the map. Even though I like the idea of having a mall, it doesn't really fit the time and region, but a scrapyard is something universally known and looking kinda the same all over the world. Later on, there could perhaps be a version for ships, too. With a massive ship graveyard full of partially recycled wrecks. (since ships are going to be a drivable vehicle at some point, too). There is still so much void around Rify... I like this idea. iClown, you are so good at giving me reason to think about features I would like to see! Thanks :)
-
That's a question I ask myself too. It's so unlogical. Why would I find tracksuit jackets in a gas station, but no equipment to fix cars? Why don't the (bigger) bus stations spawn wheels, etc? These buildings should work like the police stations and spawn these items more regularly than elsewhere. It's just a few buildings that need to have changed spawns. Overall the distribution is pretty okay and I'd still want these items to spawn elsewhere.

Yo chill Bro, not everyone watches Motor Trend Channel on YT. Next time you might want to take the 5 seconds to pull a link out of your ass, instead of lashing out, you lazy ...person. On a more constructructive matter: This is the Russian Preses' car (when he isn't driving a Merc). It's the Zil-41047. It gobbles up insane amounts of fuel, but I imagine it's bulletproof and a pretty sweet ride overall. One of these on the map and the fitting escort motorcycles could be some fun to drive around in a group.
-
As far as I know you can attach them and they will trigger, but at the moment, they just fall off the wire and don't get unpinned. That's just a minor tweak, I think. You are absolutely right - there could be many cool uses for this feature. One of them being that lonewolf players like me can just set up a tripwire (with or without nades) at the entrance of police stations, so we can't be ambushed as easily. It'll be well-worth crafting a few tripwires and using them to protect my ass while looting :)
