Are we talking out of game? Dying by being stabbed is a slow process. Someone stabbed many times ends up incapacitated on the ground while their body shuts down, there is no dying quickly from a knife (other than having an artery severed). It's easy enough to die in a single hit by being whacked on the head by anything, of course a torso hit with a blunt weapon like a hammer or anything larger would be about as effective as a knife.

I like the idea of seeing bodies and taking a look at them to see if they had anything interesting when they died. Maybe for your handgun suggestion you'll find someone once in a while who has a handgun that saved the last cartridge for themselves? You now have a handgun and a magazine with no ammunition.

When people start finding out that first person firefights are interesting when compared to the third person stalemates where two people are watching the other from safely behind cover waiting for the other to move.

You'd be very surprised how easy mammals bleed. When a friend and I were killing bears in a farmer's field (they like to flatten oats and ruin the crops) he bled all over after getting hit in the lung. A trail of blood in a field like this and we could still find him.

I'd like to think your character simply pulls the pin while continuing to hold the spoon. I'd actually love to have that count towards your idea of suicide bombing, rather this is a present for your killer if you're close enough. You die, you drop the grenade, the spoon is released, your killer gets some fragments in his face.

I bought it because I expected a fresh new feeling like when I first played the mod when it was released. Not quite there yet.

I am extremely opposed to things being made inaccurate (in general, not intended to mean firearm accuracy) from how they really are for the sake of "balance". One thing I'd really enjoy is having a rifle start either sighted in or slightly off. Running out into the woods and taking a few shots to adjust your sights so they're spot on would keep many people happy with removing such a heavy sway. Of course, for people who don't understand the concept of making small adjustments to sights would complain that it's much too hard. I enjoy the idea of having to zero a scope every time you remount it to a rifle.

I always like telling the one true spooky moment I've had in the SA. Before the bodies disappeared after a couple minutes, a friend and I were heading to the Zelenogorsk military area to see what we could find. When we got there we saw around six bodies who had clearly been fighting. Everyone's gear was on their bodies, none seemed to be looted. We were paranoid of how long ago this fighting took place and there may be someone nearby. We came to the conclusion that they were the only ones around and it was simply a firefight where nobody lived through the shooting. I loved it. And then bodies disappear after a couple minutes and we'll never have that experience again.

In Canada when I go shooting I like to walk a bit into the woods, now keep in mind this is about 100km from the closest city. Absolutely nothing out there save for a gas station (not the gasoline kind) so animals don't see people very often. I have seen quite a few animals during my walks. Coyotes, moose, bears, no cougars or wolves, but I can definitely see their paw prints around. You're correct in that things usually see me and take off, I try to be noisy so they all know I'm around. Nothing wants to get any closer than just sating their curiosity on what you are then they leave. When I start doing some target shooting I'm even less likely to find something than before. Animals can be pretty skittish. Now when you've got so few and small forests in DayZ now, there's no way you'd have no large packs of anything wandering around. Maybe the only predator you'd see is the occasional bear looking around close to town for something to eat.

I get a hardon every time I imagine the SVT40 in the game. I've posted my video a few times in the past using it. It's very surprising how reduced the recoil is when comparing it to a mosin. It's very controllable considering you're using a full sized rifle round. I will say though that magazines are less common than you think they are. SVT40s were issued with the idea that you used your magazine and loaded it using stripper clips as it'd be more likely than not that you didn't have many more than your one or two.

Oh boy, don't get me started on how weapon sway ingame compares to actual aiming. Resting my support arm elbow on my leg and holding like that makes aiming childs play. No need for a bipod, and nowhere near as bad as the sway ingame. Not one of my rifles in their current state could have a bipod just plopped on either, not a decent one anyway. Oh, and when I'm in the woods I always make sure one of my M305 magazines is always loaded, just in case Yogi decides this time he's really curious and wants to come play with me.

Back on track with the topic, unless you take some clampy bipod it just wouldn't work. Even with one it'd be awkward as hell, and you'd need to make sure it doesn't stick very far above the rifle as it'd take up the space inbetween your rear and front sight post. How about taking sticks like you'd make a splint and instead have a makeshift bipod to prop up a rifle. Like a little X shape held together by rope or rags, I don't know.

Where do you live? If you're near Edmonton I'll take you shooting and we'll see if you change your mind. It doesn't have to be a NEED. Shooting is a very fun hobby.

Balance is an awful answer in this case. "Have to give nature a buff next patch. Staying hydrated is OP and needs a nerf."

I'd have an issue with the realism vs enjoyment if it meant changing how well a weapon performs for "balance".

I'd prefer to have more filters if we're going to change the menu at all. How about I get to filter for North American servers only, or 1st person servers only?

Who says the gear isn't broken or simply looted by the time you get there?
