You silly guy. 8mm is a rifle round, not some handgun calibre smaller than 9mm.
-
You are not getting wet.
-
Because we already get a visual indicator. "OH GOD MY LEG HURTS SO BAD. YOU GOT SHOT. I'M GOING TO DIE. I AM FEELING THIRSTY."
-
Honestly I've never seen a single person use them that I've come across, alive or dead. Why use a bow when you can run around with that axe until you find a rifle in fifteen minutes?
-
For sure, but the guy was using what a develloper said as an example and you go and do some 'ad hominem' thing to the guy about what a great mechanic he must be instead of understanding he's talking about the inventory system handling vehicle systems.
-
Stalker fights can get terrifying when you're using a damaged weapon and it jams.
-
I don't expect you to have seen it, but one interview Dean is doing he really stresses being able to use different parts on a vehicle like bringing a door from another vehicle and sticking it on yours. This guy is using that as an example. I sure can't wait until I need to carry an engine in my pack.

Nowhere in there did I say "FOV". That's how you read it. I said "being able to see more at once." In third person you can see the left of your character, your right, your immediate behind, and directly ahead. All of this coming from an elevated viewpoint instead of first person at ground level.
-
Here we go again. The reason people use third person on servers is it gives them a greater feel of awareness of their surroundings, being able to see more at once. It's also 100% safe to look around a corner or sit ontop of a building looking down as you aren't exposing yourself at all to anyone's vision while you can see everything. I played first person in Arma long before I played DayZ and first person doesn't bother me at all. I end up playing exclusively on first person servers because I'm very used to it and there is no sight advantage anyone has over another. Balances it out for both people.

Shadows are cast from the trees and buildings, making the ground (grass, dirt, concrete) darker. People tend to wear the dark coloured clothing in the game. I don't have the time to post screenshots comparing it, but imagine grass without a shadow on it as a bright almost lime green with a dark clothed guy laying in it. Now think of how much harder it is to see a guy in that darker coloured grass that has shadows on it when he's wearing that dark clothing. What he's saying is for you to be that MLGpro DayZ player, you have to crank your settings down to get every little advantage you can. Sacrifice enjoying how the game looks so you can be a little bit more aware than that other guy.

What are holsters, backpacks, chest rigs, and headwear? It's just a different area for a model to be placed on the character, how hard could that be?
-
It'd be a neat thing to run across. If it's anything like 50% of the buildings I run across though, I'd open it up to find absolutely nothing inside. Not useless things, but nothing at all.

I'm going to shoot some guy's horse and run away before he knows what happened.

The Community's List of Suggested Weapons for Dayz Standalone (Version: 1.29)
rybec replied to alexeistukov's topic in Suggestions
Why do we bother keeping the SKS in the game when we can use an AKM? They fire the same calibre and the AKM is automatic. Same logic, right? Just because a weapon will exist that you prefer over the current one carried doesn't mean it makes everything else useless. -
Anyone like the idea of a more complicated reloading system?
rybec replied to MONKAYPOO0's topic in General Discussion
I actually really like how the game does reloading right now. Having to load the SKS through the inventory if all you have are loose rounds, but a shortcut with stripper clips using R. Same deal with snaploaders. -
Zeroing your scope after mounting it sounds neat, but people wouldn't be interested in something so essential because it'd take too much patience or be "too realistic".

Three things that completely ruin the DayZ experience...
rybec replied to Daricles's topic in New Player Discussion
Without functioning lungs or a heart it's probably a little harder to soldier on than you imagine. Plenty of liveleak videos show people get knocked flat on their asses or backs after taking a 7.62x39 to the chest. You will never fly twenty feet backwards after getting shot and "dying instantly" doesn't exist unless your brain became mush. Just because you don't die instantly after getting that "lethal gunshot wound" doesn't mean you're doing much while waiting for it to happen. -
An Experiment on Airfield Tunnelvisioning
rybec replied to tullyburnalot's topic in General Discussion
I don't know if you mean the group takes off after they're shot at, my group takes off if we're shot at and haven't a clue where its coming from. Stopping and looking around when there's no reason to stay is a terrible idea as far as we're concerned. -
This should really stop being the go-to answer for everything. Why take forever to do a couple "high priority" things as opposed to sticking something like this on the list and going "Oh, good idea. Annnnnnnnd, done. Back to what I was on."
-
Let's have just these firearms in the game. 91/30 SKS AKM Makarov. If you ask for anymore, don't be so entitled. Honestly though I'm indifferent about another bow. This is my compound bow and the best I've shot with it at fifty yards is about a 4-5 inch grouping. It's a neat little hobby, A picture of a broadhead as well. They will go clean through a body of an elk as long as it doesn't hit bone. The wound it leaves is clean and bleeds horribly.

Sort of ties in with a post someone made a while ago saying you should be able to take some weapons in your backpack, but they'd be disassembled. You can't just switch to it, but you have extra options. I liked the one where a guy said he'd take a trigger/firing pin or something essential and leave a weapon where it was.
-
You say that, but you really don't want it. Even though it makes sense to get sick that'd just be a reason to disconnect from a server. "Oh geez, I'm at Msta and I don't have goretex or an umbrella and have no other way to travel than on foot because cars don't exist. Time to sit in this house and play some video games while this storm blows over." I like playing Arma with the weather effects, but making the rain actually give you a reason not to play at all isn't all that great of an idea.

I think you underestimate the persistance of a thirteen year old clown mask wearing sadist.

You know, I'd enjoy an AVT-40. An SVT-40 is hopefully somewhere in the future. With all the talk of making a G3 semi-automatic you could just add in an L1A1, but you'd be much less likely to find an L1A1 in Chernarus I think seeing as it's mostly a commonwealth weapon. I'd use no other weapon than a Rhodesian L1A1 if I could get my hands on one.

I'd like to pull the pin on a grenade, place a vest ontop of it holding the spoon and sit in earshot at the airfield. That'd be fun.
