Well, you can while moving. You can only do so while moving forward. It doesn't make you walk, it's just a jog.

I think a lot of people misunderstand why the system works like it does. Reloads are slow in the normal state with no speed loaders/stripper clips. I like how you must go into your inventory and grab a bunch of cartridges then drag them onto the gun. You get a nice advantage when you find a stripper clip for your SKS as an example. They're set to be grabbed, stuck in position, pushed down and you're good. What they really need to do is add some mosin stripper clips like the SKS has. If you have a magazine or clip in your pocket/vest you know where it is and can probably grab it and load it into your rifle with your eyes closed. Singular rounds would be much slower as the game 'simulates'. TLDR - add mosin stripper clips.

On my current character I have a few 30rd magazines and had one drum magazine for an AKM. I think drum mags are goofy and prefer using a regular magazine, and used the scroll wheel to tell my character to load a 30rd magazine. The only open space in my inventory were lines of two or three. No squares of 4 or more. This caused the drum to disappear from my inventory and wasn't anywhere on the ground. A word of warning, I'll miss those 75 cartridges of food for my shooter.

I hadn't played before I read posts about how horrible the new movement speed is when aiming. Then I play and it's not bad at all. Movement speed could be increased a little for readied while not aiming, but it doesn't even need it.

Make it possible for other people to access your backbag

There'd be no downsides to allowing buddies to go through your backpack. Anything you want to share you'd leave in there. -
Melee Overhaul Idea - Choose Direction/Attack & Block
rybec replied to agouti's topic in Suggestions
Hardly off topic. M&B involves using the mouse to control what direction you're attacking from as opposed to just clicking. That's half of it. The blocking consists of moving your mouse in the correct direction to block as opposed to holding down the right mouse button. -
I wish there were some woods in DayZ somewhere that you could go to and would never see another person for hours.

Melee Overhaul Idea - Choose Direction/Attack & Block
rybec replied to agouti's topic in Suggestions
You really can't say Chivalry has a deep melee system when Mount and Blade exists. -
I really enjoyed during (breaking point?) there'd be helicopters flying around and eventually they'd crash/drop like a rock and create the spawn point then. You'd be going along and hear a large explosion to find it, or you could follow as best you could to be there when it happened. You could also shoot them down to cause it.

I read that as using a bayonet, which I'm very for.

I'll explain it this way. Think of some American grenade. You see a pin and a little arm sticking out right? The pin isn't what makes a grenade explode. It's just a way to hold it. When that pin is pulled, that arm is going to want to move because that pin isn't holding it anymore. If you pull the pin and stick something heavy on the grenade to hold that arm in place, when that body heavy object is moved, that releases the pressure holding the grenade from going bang.

[Standalone][150+ Hours][Ages 15+] Looking to form a group
rybec replied to xtreysawesomex's topic in General Discussion
No kidding. I wonder how he chats with his buddies, or he's looking for new ones after the others got tired of it, eh? -
They're stripper clips for a mosin man. You open the bolt, stick it in the top, push the cartridges down.

I really can't tell if you're joking or not. I'm going to check back tomorrow.

I found 20(5x4) round clips

Keep in mind, your rifle is never at the hip in this game. Never. You have shouldered and aiming, and shouldered without aiming. Walking and aiming is no big deal. A brisk walk and aiming is no big deal. A solid jog while aiming is pretty difficult Mr.Marine.

Because it's a game the weapons are placed like a pyramid. You have the low rate of fire, low calibre, wood-stocked weapons at the bottom with high spawn rates at the bottom. As you go up you make your way to automatic rifles, battle rifles, DMRs, and other tacticool weapons with lower spawn rates. What was funny in the mod was that at the start you saw many many people with the revolver and not much else. A couple M4s and AKs once in a while, you saw a guy or two with a DMR from who knows where, and you rarely saw a mythical AS50. As time went on, weapons didn't go out of circulation unless you had an instance where some guy with an AS50 killed another with the rifle, and buried the body or stuck it in a tent. Since few left circulation, you eventually end up with more people than not with all these (once rare) weapons stockpiled. Back on topic, an AKM being more common may be more logical, but for gameplay reasons an SKS should be more common. It's level on terms of accuracy, range, and "stoppan powah". The only difference is it's less lenient for missing due to the need to reload every ten shots (easier with a stripper clip). You'll still run into that occurance of more AKMs and other "higher tier" weapons being common through staying in circulation.

Even better than mounted guns would be enabling small arms use while riding. That way we're not even worried about mounted guns at all anymore. Don't even say "engine limitations!", that shouldn't be an excuse when making a standalone game.

I wonder how long it'll take before 7.62x54r becomes a thing when NATO battle rifles are implimented? Also, you cannot say that someone can't speak on behalf of the community by saying they haven't polled a million people. Many decisions in the game can/should be made for the greater good as opposed to catering to people who prefer something easier. I am entirely interested in multiple rifle rounds for reasons (avoiding playing the realism card) of forcing more decision making. Swapping weapons out because you've found a bit more of a calibre you haven't been using after expending your current makes for variety. If we have all rifles chambered in maybe three different calibres, you're never going to have an issue of running out of your current required ammunition and can expend it all without having to worry about conservation. I enjoy seeing I have fifty rifle arounds left as it forces me to make decisions like whether I want to fight the group of guys I just saw, if I should venture to an airfield and hope to find what I need. Currently (of course there's little content so we're down to a few different calibres) you can find enough ammunition for your primary in a short period of time to not care and just magdump on everything.

You funny guy. Every man I see is man with great smile and axe as he kill.

It really can't be that hard to write "X has been changed to Y". It's as simple as the patch notes rolled out every few weeks. The thing I'd like best is when (if) they're reading comments to give input on what they think of people's ideas and we can bounce ideas back and forth. It's really more like a one way conversation. One that people not the devellopers talk in.
-
I'd like to see every change they make. We're not sitting here to experience the "It's an alpha, don't complain about anything" phase without wanting to see what's actually being done.
-
Realism? Oh shit I said it.

If someone didn't say it clear enough... DayZ Standalone is its own game. The mod is a mod of Arma 2 and is something complete different.
-
I support this for the sole reason of blapping one and going "Oh hell yes."
