Shotguns, reloading internal magazines, and Chainsaw / power-tools?
rybec replied to KnoXy (DayZ)'s topic in Suggestions
We could just save time and put all of the rifles and shotguns from stalker in it save most of the NATO/Western ones. I'd like to see it in. -
You're right. I read that as "You suck, and we hate you." too. Unless "participating in the ongoing development cycle" means they would like our participation with suggestions rather than participation meaning we sit and look at what they're doing.

So are rocket launchers going to be added soon?
rybec replied to TheWizard14's topic in General Discussion
I don't think you understand how many different things an RPG can sling. There's V, VL, VR, VM, frags, and my favourite being thermobaric. Go look up what thermobarics do. That'd be absolutely horrifying to be in a building bunkered up to be countered with one. -
But one team is dedicated to defending. How dare they play defensively!
-
No way man, that standard issue rifle designed over a hundred years ago will pluck you from two kilometers away.

But I'd actually like to use thermobarics with an RPG :( -
I've always liked the idea of having to adjust a scope every time you mounted it.
-
I warned you guys. I warned you.

FTFs and FTEs would be great for degraded weapons for sure. I've said it would be great if you had a hangfire once in a while with bad ammunition.
-
But it's just as manly of a pant as the male ones...
-
Shame those guys would be Loners, not Bandits. Bandits in Stalker had trenchcoats with a hood or pants and jacket with a mask.
-
Pro-tip, female characters are UNBEARABLY loud when running.

Phenomenon: People that constantly talk to themselves
rybec replied to t1337dude's topic in General Discussion
Reminds me of All Points Bulletin during the beta when voice activated was default. THAT lead to some very funny times. Hearing people scream after you kill them, one guy thanked his wife for bringing him lunch, LOTS of Russians yelling "SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOKA". It was great. -
Ingame you can't see someone's eyes or facial expressions change. Looking at someone's face can give you an idea of what they're like. The method of shooting everyone regardless of their attitude towards you remains the safest choice with zero downsides I suppose.
-
When they were much more common, I typically grabbed the ammo out of a drum mag a dumped it. Something about drum magazines is a large turnoff for me. Seems too goofy. I prefer standard magazines.
-
With enough people on the server I might eventually run into someone in the woods, rather than literally every interaction being in a city/town/base.
-
Of course I'm entirely behind the massive beard on my face for staying alive long enough, the idea of being handicapped for living long enough not because of an injury but because you're "growing old" isn't something I can get behind. Give injuries a small lasting effect maybe, but not cripple the character just because.
-
Wait a sec, you want characters to become worse overall as time passes?
-
Yeah, if you tried climbing the mountains without a cold weather suit (gorka) you'd shake and freeze.
-
Maybe add this after we fix warm clothing not having much effect. I don't like the idea of shaking uncontrollably while all snuggly in a gorka suit when it's not raining and the sun is out.

The problem is, there is literally nothing that can be put in the game that is not controversial to cause people to like their character. If I get shot, it'll take me all of thirty minutes to get going again. The game is starting to lose some of that combat excitement just because there are so many large cities being added beside each other you just don't have to care any more. There's no reason to go anywhere at all, no reason to care about my character. "It's an alpher!" The game can be fun, has many many issues that need to be sorted out, I don't even bother doing goofy things trying to contact anyone ingame other than to punch holes in their head and torso with 7.62x39.

Walking Sim while killing kiddies.

People don't like the idea of actually having something to lose when they die. They'll mask this by saying "that's stupid" or "no classes/learning". I'd be indifferent, but a fascinating thing you'd end up running into is if you could teach someone else with some action prompt of what you know. Say you died and meet up with your buddy. He teaches you what you both found through books or other friends. Great. Say you find someone without a rifle. Maybe you could go run over to them and hold them up and try to learn from them what they know, or you'll kill them. Something that encourages (but doesn't require) more interaction is fine by me. I mean, I play the game like I'm playing Arma. The only difference is people might not be able to fight back and I have to eat and drink.

Red, is that you?
