Attaching scopes should require a tool as well as "sighting in".

For sure. It's a silly concept to me that you can find an LRS, trow it on your mosin, then plink something at 500m. -

There's literally nothing stopping you from using irons. Why not reward the players who want to put the effort in to give themselves an advantage? Arma3 doesn't put off players because of being 'authentic', it puts off players for being full of futuristic/prototypes of everything. I am simply all for knowledge of how to handle and maintain firearms, knowledge of how to hunt, and general bush knowledge to give players an advantage in the game. Those who do not know could easily read up and be on the same page, while learning something useful. -

I thought we were wanting authenticity in the game? Are you that sore about the idea you might actually have to put in a couple minutes of work to make your equipment function how you want? Shame on me for liking shooting my rifles and sighting everything in. -

Why would it be an issue that if you decide to mount optics you have to take all of fifteen minutes of playing around with it in the woods to sight it in? At the very least it'd get some people to look it up instead of believing that crosshairs are exact the moment you put it ontop of that super tacticool special forces .308 sniper rifle. -

If you want to dedicate yourself to using optics, why not take the time to set it up? A button to switch from optics to irons on weapons that allow it would be greatly welcomed. -
Just sharing a pretty interesting hybrid/DIY gun

It's like I'm looking at a goofy Masterkey. -
I'd like the random twig snapping to be removed, but night would be nicer with a little ambient animal sounds.

No kidding. "Hey Billy, what're you up to on that game?" "Having fun mom. Timmy and I are on teamspeak and we caught a girl ingame. We got her to take off her pants, we handcuffed her, and we're making her drink disinfectant. I'm getting bored, I might just shoot her in the head and tell her to get rekt."

Well, because you said "people would immediately think of blood and gore and stuff when they hear DayZ" I thought you meant blood and gore, not skinning. You should elaborate more next time bud.
-
I said this in a previous thread.

What a bizarre concept that a game focusing around zombies might be full of blood and gore.

I sense a horrible bias. Would I be an idiot for owning some old Russian military clothing and a mosin? Is this idiocy reserved only for people who have an interest in the Wehrmacht? Nearly every person against having Wehrmacht clothing thinks people who'd wear it ingame will run around screaming "Hitler did nothing wrong!" and "Sieg heil!". I think you're overestimating the number of people that'd do that. I haven't heard anyone say anything in the game other than "I'm friendly!" and some nasty names when they shoot me or are shot by me.

The mod went a little overboard with that. I don't like every single road in every single town roadblocked off.

Although there are rangefinders that have magnification, their primary purpose is measuring distance. You look at some pricy rangefinders and you'll usually find them at 6x magnification max. Of course, we have auto-darkening welding helmets all over Chernarus, we may as well have expensive rangefinders all over too.

Good thing our first reaction to seeing one of the semi-few remaining people in the area is to blap them.

Play a female character. The breathing is 2x more manly and annoying. I dare you.
-
You're thinking Duty and Freedom. Neither were friendly with the military, they were just factions of their own in the zone.
-
I've made a few friends through the DayZ mod that I play DayZ and other games with after we shared TS information. Other than having a small chance of making a friend there is absolutely no reason to not shoot anyone you see. You don't lose out on anything.

Why did you remove the bipod for Mosin?
rybec replied to Halven (DayZ)'s topic in New Player Discussion
The idea is it fills the role temporarily until more content is added. The PU scope should only be mountable after drilling and tapping it even, but it's supposed to be a common rifle that tides you over until you find something you like more. An example would be like dropping it for an SVD when they're implimented later. -
Stalker weapons were more smuggled. Research teams were official and regulated with the military allowing nobody to move in or out of the zone.

Signs of damage (Bruises, Cuts, Bullet wounds)
rybec replied to threedogification's topic in Suggestions
Eventually I hope to be able to tell where someone was shot by looking at exit and entry points of bullets. -
Please show me when I said that.

Austria is just a little bit closer to the Chernarus area than Australia. Just a little.
-
So you're at a shade 10 maybe? I used to work with a crabby old guy who had to use cutting goggles because he ruined his eyes so bad from flashes he couldn't see through a helmet anymore. I like to go a little darker.

Don't assume only the American military uses UH-60s and only the Kiwis use the AUG. The Austrian military uses the AUG (it just so happens to be an Austrian rifle) and the UH-60 helicopter. Austria is only a couple countries over on the map.
