Ain't really sure where I confused Down Syndrome with Cerebral Palsy...but whatever. -

My Perspective (1.7.5.1)

I don't always post on DayZ forums, but when I do, I make sure to cram as much controversial material into my threads as possible. Glad you enjoyed it, haha. But, in all honesty, I was not really making this post to complain/get something off my chest. I'm a fairly adaptable player when it comes to this game. I just thought that the game could potentially benefit from my two cents. If you haven't had zombies glitch through walls in over a year, then I honestly don't know what game you've been playing. :D -
TL;DR at bottom. Basically I have been reading a lot of posts lately that contain a lot of talk about Day Z being "too hard" since the recent release of patch 1.7.5.1. So I thought I would share some of my thoughts with the members of the DayZ community. In regards to some of the complaints being made, I would have to say that some of them are, in fact, quite valid. DayZ has gotten quite a bit more difficult (and this is coming from someone who has been playing the game for several months now) since the patch release. However, I cannot say I am entirely on-board with the whole "DayZ has gotten too hard" ship. Indeed, the zombies now are a lot more difficult to deal with. Their tenacity, viciousness, and sheer numbers now make them much more formidable opponents. Firing an un-suppressed firearm in a town or city will inevitably lead to massive, unending swarms of undead descending upon you quite rapidly. Death by zombie has become a much more common method of expiring as of recently. While I do believe that this is the way it should be, I do not agree that DayZ is ready for this yet. Let me explain (with numerically designated points!): Forewarning: This is the part of the post where a sense of humor is required: 1. The zombies, at the moment, are endless. There are far too many to deal with/sneak past. No matter how many you kill, more and more will take their place. Don't believe me? Go to Elektro. Try killing ALL the zombies. Not just the ones in your area. ALL of them. You will notice that when you move to go kill the zombies outside your area (i.e. from the church to the general store), more spawn back in to replace the ones you just slaughtered. Hell, sometimes you'll notice that even if you stay in one spot, the zombies never stop coming at you. 2. The zombies, in their current state, are retarded. This is no secret. Everybody knows this. The zombies will dead sprint across a field, possibly run past you, then turn around and try to assault you by bringing their arms up in an entirely unrealistic, spastic motion. If you've ever wondered if zombies can have Down Syndrome, well, the zombies in DayZ will give you the answer you've been searching for. But, unfortunately, that's not the only issue with our undead friends. These infected, former communist swine can also be seen, as many of you already know, performing miracles that can only be matched by Jesus Christ, Himself. They will move through doors, walls, glass, fences, tank traps, barbed wire, solid metal, and other objects that I was fairly certain were not permeable without the application of considerable force by literally phasing right through them. 3. The collision detection associated with the zombies is, well, unfortunate. The zombies lack the ability to accurately land a hit on a player without twitching and almost teleporting to its desired target. Now before any one of you twats says "The game's in Alpha, bro!", I would like to make it clear that the game is in its Alpha (yes, you read that right). This is EXACTLY my point. The game is in its Alpha. The game needs more development before it is truly ready for this "zombie rape" patch. Once the game has been smoothed over then, by all means, let the non-consensual sex between zombies and survivors begin. And finally, let me make this clear: I am not complaining. I will continue to play this game regardless as to whether or not my suggestions are taken to heart. I really, in all honesty, just want to see this game succeed. It is truly a magnificent piece of work, and I want it to become even more renowned. Anyway, that's pretty much all I have to say at the moment. Let me know what y'all think. TL;DR: Lazy bastard. Go back and read.

A Threat To Banditry Itself, And A Solution.

God...there are gonna be so many dead motherfuckers if they ever manage to somehow seize a town... -
So obviously hunger and thirst play a fairly large role in this game. One can die within, I believe, 1-2 hours without food or water if you choose to be an active player. But anywho, I'm just gonna cut to the chase: this kind of pisses me off. The average human can go approximately three days without water and a couple weeks without food before succumbing to death. While I realize that requiring players to ingest food or water every 2-3 days would essentially take out the role the consumable items in the game play, and while I realize the standard human cannot function properly without consistent food and water sources, I have developed a compromise: I want tiered hunger and thirst meters. Let me explain: Every two/three hours of active play, the thirst/hunger meter increases by one tier. Penalties start to take affect every time you experience a tier increase. Overall, there are three tiers, after tier three, your player dies. The following will explain the penalties associated with a tier increase: Thirst Tier 1: Player is normal. Hunger Tier 1: Player is normal. Thirst Tier 2: Player can no longer run indefinitely. Hunger Tier 2: Player's sights waver roughly 20% more than usual. Thirst Tier 3: Previous penalties stack. Player's stamina is decreased even further. Player is constantly breathing heavily, making him or her more noticeable. Hunger Tier 3: Previous penalties stack. Player's sights waver 25% more. Player's vision blurs occasionally. Death. Well that's pretty much it. Let me know what y'all think.

So I was on a server with, I believe, just one other player. I was in Stary Sober and I found a vehicle. It was busted up as shit. Busted fuel tank. Busted engine. No tires. No gas. Fucked up hull. No windshield. Everything was torched. I went around looking for parts to fix it with. Found one tire and a windshield (and that was after searching around for about 45 minutes). I finally logged off to go have a smoke. I was gone for maybe fifteen minutes. Maybe. I logged back onto that same server. This time, there was nobody on it. I checked back where I had found the vehicle. Gone. The bear trap that I had laid by the driver's side door was also gone. I concluded that there was no way in bloody hell the ONE OTHER PLAYER on that server had found the vehicle, repaired it, fueled it up, gotten his legs broken by the bear trap, and driven away. So what I'm wondering here is if server resets, relocate vehicles (yes, I did save the vehicle...multiple times actually)? If not, then can anybody else give me an explanation as to what the hell happened?

some servers make u start out with a new one every time...just change servers.

The "study body" function does't even work on my game lol. All's it says is: "His name was John. He was killed by". Then it cuts off there.

Teleport everyone hackers -is there a safe server out there-?
Bambo (DayZ) replied to Chillnkill (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Just join servers with low player counts (20 or less). I've never had a hacker problem on those. -
Ok, I know that on some servers, map markers (the ones where you double-click and a large circle with an "x" through it appears) are "shared" (which, quite frankly, I think is fucking retarded...but whatever...that's not the point here). Everyone can see them if they have access to a map. But what I'm wondering is if the other type of map marker (the one where you hold shift and click and two concentric circles appear...I've heard some call it a "distance marker") is "shared". Can everyone else see this type of marker, or just you? Thanks, Scoopolard

Yeah that was what I was thinking. Same for tents. It would just give the owners of a computer too much of an advantage. Hmm...I've ever actually had the chance to acquire a helicopter...I'll have to look more into that. I can understand that opinion, but this isn't any more high-tec than an operational GPS. A GPS device locks onto a satellite and uses its programming to locate its own coordinates. It then distributes the coordinates to the user. The laptop would essentially be doing the same thing, but instead of locking onto the user's coordinates, it would take a customized snapshot of a provided location in a limited time interval. It's essentially a more "live" version of Google Earth. My goal with this is to essentially counter all of the assholes who like to just chill on the hills and rooftops outside of the big cities like Elektro and snipe anyone they see.

Please read the whole thread before commenting/passing judgement. I was thinking of ways to possibly better the game for the general community the other day, and I came up with this: New Item: Laptop Functions: Connects to a satellite which generates a relatively close up snapshot of a provided area (user chooses a 10 square kilometer zone for the photo (number not set in stone)) every 5-10 minutes (this number is also not set in stone). In the photo, the user would be able to zoom in quite a bit in order see the position players and zombies were in when the photo was taken. Players or zombies that were inside or underneath cover when the photo was taken would not be seen. Stats: Only spawns in military areas (this is not set in stone). Has a very, very low spawn rate/chance. Restrictions: The photo produced by the satellite would not be heat sensitive. The photo produced would not designate certain objects as "players" or "zombies". Only close and thorough analysis of the photo would be able to reveal the identity of individual objects. Note: I have not yet thought of a way to deal with player-owned vehicles and tents. Should the photo reveal these as well? Or should these be hidden from the gaze of satellite in order to protect player item ownership and sort of "nerf" the power of the "Laptop"? I'm not really sure. This is up for debate. As you can see, the primary function of this device would be to locate targets that have remained stationary for extensive periods of time (campers/snipers). So just tell me what you think, fellas. Thanks, Scoopolard
