If they need a Nerf it's lower hipfire accuracy. While you can be pretty accurate when hipfiring a Sniper if you're skilled enough, the recoil still is very high and you wont just land 2 shots in a row nearly exactly where you aimed. The only thing that makes them a bit OP is that they are as good for close combat as any assault rifle, just loud as fuck. But the Hipfire of other weapons should also be less accurate. And I nearly never get killed by snipers. Usually some guy with an AK or M4A1. -

As few as I play on regular servers, if I do I'm probably one of the few guys who don't KoS all the time. But yes, it's true, you don't have much more to do after some time. I went hunting bandits and leaving survivors alone... you should probably try BF3 then. -

@Applejaxc, yes it was^^ Yeah, that's why I said it would require people to have a mic that is easily muteable. (like mine, I just push a button on my headset, it's off, I can scream through the whole house, and then demute it and talk to my friends or random guys in DayZ again) But not everybody would like to spend much money on Headsets. (while you can get an easily muteable Headset for around 20€, those might not really fit your ears, and the one for 40€ that does fit your ears might not have muting possibility). One other possibility would be to have different Servers, but I think that would scatter the playerbase to much, DayZ is more fun with more people imho. Always depends on the number of players in the SA though. Exactly, it's the biggest Problem I see with this as well. Though I think if you play non-serious and talk about random stuff, you wouldn't care that much about dieing. I may be wrong though^^ (I think that on Vanilla servers DayZ is only really fun if you play it seriously anyway, if I want to make useless stuff I go on some private hive with tons of Vehicles, which wont be in SA at first anyway). Still, if you are let's say 4 people, and 2 of you decide to play something else, but 2 continue to play DayZ, you sometimes would have problems communicating with your friends. I personally also like talking to my friends through Skype/Teamspeak while playing DayZ, just because of better quality than ingame, so I think I still wouldn't turn off 3rd party VOiP software, and there probably are many others who think the same. I wouldn't mind to also be heard ingame by others though, as long as I do also hear them. (because, let's face it, even if I would perma activate direct voice chat for me while playing, those Snipers sitting somewhere and jerking off when they kill helpless people wouldn't do it voluntarily) I also think the game wouldn't even have to recognize 3rd party VOiP Software, you could just have the message pop up every time you join a Server by standard. -

A few days ago I thought about someone here complaining that using 3rd party programs for voice communication is kinda unfair, and while I think it's totally ok to use them, I agree that it's an advantage over random players meeting and then playing together (as seldom as it happens, sadly). So I thought it might be a solution to force direct voice chat in standalone. However, this would need a few requirements to work properly: -Being able to mute specific people (so that if you want to talk to your friends over a 3rd party program but also want to play DayZ with them you don't here them twice) for voice chat ONLY -The voice in direct chat becoming more quiet when you are farther away. Else whispering wouldn't help you to stay undetected. This Idea also has some cons ofc: -One would need a mic you can mute (ok, you can still plug it out or mute it in windows settings) so that if you play alone you can still talk to yourself or whatever. -If you talk to someone not playing with you, and you play DayZ, this would still warn nearby players of your existence, and you couldn't simply mute your mic as this would also mute it for the 3rd party program. Dayz SA to be a failure

I'd actually prefer a shitton of vehicles in the standalone, but nearly no fuel on the whole map and many of the vehicles broken. Would be authentic imo. I currently only play DayZ from time to time on a private Taviana Server with 500 vehicles or something, just to drive/fly around the world a bit, try not to DM to much and that's it. Very seldomly I join a regular DayZ Server, usually get bored pretty fast after getting shot by some KOS guy, I've had my time where I was new to Chernarus and enjoyed scavenging for ages and playing Running Simulator ;). Really hope the Zombies get incredibly dangerous in the SA, I'd probably play more Vanilla DayZ with less KoS and more challenges then just other players. -
As long as the mag then drops onto the ground, so I can pick it up in case I do quick rld because of being used to just tapping R, this is perfect.

not bad. Could eliminate some of the KoS. But sadly, as BambiProtector sayd, it would be too easy to kill someone after knocking him out. Maybe make it only possible when you stand behind someone? (you then can easily kill him with anything anyway) -
How to Actually Get in a Server?

it's most likely because you need the latest Arma II Beta version (http://www.arma2.com/beta-patch.php), but I think easiest would be DayZCommander, as hockeyguy sayd (though it shuts down my internet every time I launch it, but I seem to be the only one). -
Vote for the Standalone to have more vehicles on each map.

Make tons of vehicles, but parts and especially fuel way more scarce (so that vehicles hoarded outside of map don't make it impossible for everyone else to obtain one, but still make it very hard to get one) -
Also thought of this, but once you are in a group of 2 you can gain humanity for nothing again... We would need other requirements as well... What about: 1) The player must not have shot you in the last 60 minutes before his death. 2) You must not have shot the player in the last 60 minutes before his death. (combination of both should ensure that the player was not hostile) 3) The player must not have died more than 20 minutes ago (to prevent burying random bodies for humanity) or we could also add: 4) You must not have looted the dead player. (Though I think that this would prevent everyone from gaining humanity, as you usually also take something from a dead friend, unless you are fully geared) I think the first 3 should do the trick.

DMR would be nice. Got some stanags still from the L85 so not for the M4, except maybe 1 or 2 HE nades for the launcher. Would need to come with friend though, as the DMR is for him. -

What about my FN FAL with I think 5 mags (might be even more) plus my L85AWS for an Mk 48 with all mags, an M4A1 Holo, a Ghillie, and a DMR? (L85 is probably the most valuable thing in Chernarus. And yes, mines legit. But I don't really like it.) -

Spawned at either cherno or elektro harbour, don't know. Was very scared of death however, so I crawled to the inner city while searching for some buildings I could go in. Found some food and drink and I think also a hatchet after about 1 hour... Then went out of a building, heard a shot, fell down on the ground. "YOU ARE DEAD". -

imo Zombies are not impossible. I'm no expert in that kind of stuff but I could think of a bacteria manipulating the human brain in a way that the human gets unconscious for quite a long time, where the brain is manipulated in a way to not feel pain anymore (definately possible) and just runs with the basics - hunger. Maybe also hunger only for meat, if the bacteria needs something which is mostly inside meat. They would not be as near-unkillable as the classic zombie, as the most imoprtant organs would still be needed, but seemingly dead rising and then going after every source of meat they can get, while surviving having their legs shot off and many other things that would kill a normal human quite fast without medical treatment, are possible. And I think that's the common definition of a Zombie. But I personally don't care, I think if something like I said above would happen IRL everyone would call it the "Zombie Disease" or something.
