There's a topic about sniping where one user mentioned that characters are not military trained and aiming should be more difficult. I like that idea, but... what if we could choose a profession our character was in before the outbreak and that profession has its traits? E.g. if our guy was a professional soldier, then make aiming easier for him (well actually, leave it as it is, but make it harder for civilians). If he was a lumberjack, he is stronger with melee weapons, farmer consumes only 10-20% of food and water instead of 25%, hunter moves more silently, policeman is faster, fireman climbs ladders and steps faster, engineer takes less time to craft something, doctors already know their blood type, and use less medication and bandages (like farmer with food), and so on... I think that would be a cool thing to have in character customization, and would make a game more realistic, cause we all have our strenghts and weaknesses in real life.

Isn't choosing your past also a part of creating your own story? Well that's not really my point, killing a 1000 zombies would improve any player's accuracy and skill with the gun. Then make "professions" (I don't like calling them classes) have weaknesses as well as traits. For a soldier, a trait could be bigger accuracy like said before, and the weakness could be not being able to craft more difficult things. Or I don't know, give soldiers PTSD so they need to take some kind of pills, or smoke/drink often, or when sleep (if) gets implemented into the game, make soldiers sometimes wake up shaking and feeling cold, not being able to sleep again until they are fed, hydrated, warm and indoors for feeling safe. .

Rolling Update Rev - 0.43.116251

I'll try, thanks. Although it seems that it happens when a server is unresponsive, since I was stuck with the SKS at the moment, and decided to try to shoot some zombies. Nothing happened. -

It works fine for me when I manage to find a server I can log into. Other than that, no new problems, hotkeys don't work sometimes though. -

I don't like external maps either. You learn to depend on it, and that just kills it. Knowing to read Serbian Cyrillics is also a great asset cause I can actually use the road signs, yay! :D Anyway, since those towns aren't on the dayzdb map, I don't think I'll ruin anything by transfering to Latin alphabet... I found two cans at the top of the Green Mountain radio tower. That's my favorite place in the whole wide world now.

There should actually be all sorts of instruments so we can form bands! Based on my experience as a musician, and DayZ player, bands could have gigs all around the Chernarus. Saturday, March 22 2014, Berezino Pub Live rock'n'roll band "The Survivor" (Destiny's Child tribute band) After the gig the band would be payed for their performance. Band frontman or manager: "Can we get our beans now?" Pub owner: "Yeaaah... well, it's been a slow night, I can't pay you what we agreed on... you know..." BF/M: "But we agreed on 20 cans, I had to run all the way to Electro for the strings... I died 3 times during band practice!" PO: "Yeaaaah... well, I can give you like... 7?... cans? You know... rough times..." BF/M: "But that barely covers our trip back to base, come on man, at least give me 12" PO: "Yeaaaah... no, I can't, see I have to make a profit, ok? And you're just playing here, it's not you're actually LOOSING anything" BF/M: "But we have pristine equipment, do you know what I had to do to get that? And the strings, and the practice, and the trip, and that sniper who killed our bass player! Look, he's still laying right there in the corner" PO: "Yeaaaah... no, you can get 7 or get the hell out" BF/M: "Well fuck you!" *gunshots* *beach* BF/M: "Goddamnit"

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yMfgJo1I010 I actually don't mind the idea completely, but I'm 100% sure people would find a way to make it annoying and obnoxious. Maybe put a guitar and record a few basic chord progressions, so we can chose a pre-recorded acoustic song by scrolling the mouse wheel. Like... play blues play country play rnr play pop something like that. And then people could make up their own songs and sing them into the mic, maybe tell their own story in a country style ghost song, like in the video.

Guess I misunderstood that last part, it's pretty obvious now :D It makes even less sense now, if you can't change servers, why make an impact on other servers by looting? What if two people reach for the same thing at the same time? (which is quite possible seeing that there's tons of servers and players on them, and hot places are still the same on every server) I'd be pretty pissed if I searched for ammo for 2 hours only for it to disappear right before I take it.

Don't want to give in to the dark side...
hoffa (DayZ) replied to nl's topic in New Player Discussion
I've never had more fun in the game than with proper bandits. Being a proper bandit for me means is to use others for your own survival. Robbing them, using them as decoy, bait, or source of blood... anything. I have killed maybe 3-4 people ever (DayZ mod + standalone combined) cause it just feels stupid and boring. KoS is the dumbest way to play this game. Especially since you're paying 24€ (at the time) to play the game "the wrong" way. I realise there's no wrong way to play this, but you'll really miss alot of fun if you play like that. Even if you are a KoS type, try interacting with people now and then. The tension of approaching someone who may need help/could help you is far more rewarding than killing player after player after player. I've been playing SA for three days now, and I've already met 5-6 friendly people and I've died 2 times. Stupid deaths, first one was running into a building at the NE AF, there was a couple of guys there, and since I don't have a mic right now I attempted to put my hands in the air. They thought I was reaching for my SKS (without ammo) and shot me unconscious. We talked (I typed) and before they were able to bring me to my feet a sniper appeared. I told them to take anything they need from me that could help them (I had tons of food and drinks, alot of Mosin ammo and some M4 ammo), and asked them to kill me if they couldn't save me. I hate the respawn button, feels like I'm quitting. That black screen saying "you're uncosncious" was the most fun I had in the SA so far! -
Why do you all have the urge to act like douchebags to someone who can't express himself that good in English? It's perfectly clear what he said - he has problems with server hoppers, he wants the character to save on each server and can't be transfered between servers, when you change server - day 0. And he wants a base where you could stash gear and transfer them between servers. I don't see the point of this, except always starting from the coast and having to run to your base (and I don't get it, how can everyone have their own private base when they spawn), but yeah... if everyone could stop acting like a dick to people who don't speak good English... o <|> /\ that would be great

That would be great, to have a bear as a trophy! I do it IRL too, I'm growing my beard until I get a job interview, it's very thick and long now! But women should also have a trophy... maybe... give them a period every 10-15 days? This could also be a trait for them, cause they could use their period for cleanning their organisms of infections. Like an oil change. Great stuff!

Zombies wont die until hit/shot the the head
hoffa (DayZ) replied to petersvk's topic in Suggestions
This topic is fairly useless, if the game needs to be as realistic as possible. When you're dealing with a person in rage, that person would also have an adrenaline rush. So why are we making this a bigger problem than it is? One shot to the head, one to the heart, shooting the knee caps breaks the bones, and make it 3-4 body hits to kill them. If possible, make them blown back a bit by every shot, and that's it. Fill small towns with about 3 zombies per house, fill bigger towns with 2-3 per house, with a few police/fireman zombies, make some of them walk around in small hordes, as for military bases - make as many military zombies as there are bunkbeds in the barracks, and add 4-5 more per military tent... a couple more for other buildings and hangars. A few hordes walking through the forests or between cities, and that's it. Make them more attracted to sound that to the sight... I don't think I would scan my surroundings carefully if I was in a state of rage constantly. Don't let people log out when they have zombies aggroed on them, and make silencers extremely rare piece of equipment. That way, bandit snipers would have to be extra smart and extra careful so they don't get stuck on some rooftop after firing a loud shot, cause - shot aggroes zeds, zeds surround the building, there's alot of them so running through them isn't an easy job. Btw, I don't have a problem with bandits, I think they're a crucial part of the game, but I do think most people play as bandits (or end up playing as bandits cause they're afraid of everything) cause it's easy to play like that. And there you go, you have realistic zombies (well, realistic infected people with serious rage issues) and an environment that makes people think if they should actually do something. Even the heroes would have to decide if they can risk it by saving a person, or if saving a person is a certain death for themselves. That way, you actually may have stronger sensation of achievement if you save a person, maybe even sadness if you fail (provided you're set to be the greatest hero there is), or a gut-wrenching feeling in a bandit who has to think "if I kill this guy, can I make it down from the roof and run away before I bring couple dozen zeds to my location (again, this only works if person can't log out when zombies are aggroed on them). -
How to Increase frames in DayZ with a Mid/Low end PC (in game specs)
hoffa (DayZ) replied to Tactical Soldier Gaming's topic in General Discussion
Thanks mate! This works great! I have a 4 years old laptop, and even the main menu screen was laggy when I first entered the game. With your settings the game runs perfect (haven't checked the frames yet), but it's very smooth and still looks nice. Enjoy your newly acquired beans! -
Ok, so it's been almost a year since I've played DayZ the last time. Mostly cause I didn't have time, and partialy cause I didn't have company. But, I'd like to do my "lone wolf" run again. I reinstalled DayZ Commander (cause it was so out of date it just crushed every time I wanted to update it. So, I reinstall it, and go to the install/update menue and WHOA!! There's tons of mods now? DAYZ (which is the original one I suppose), DAYZ+, DAYZ 2017 and so on... I have updated my DayZ Commander, Arma 2 and the DAYZ mod... minimum ping in server browser is over 500. I see all the different descriptions like custom starting gear, always day and stuff like that... I want to start a fresh new game, with basic gear on a medium populated server and go from there, like I did a year ago. Is that even possible? What's with the ping? I used to have a great number of servers with up to 30-50 ping and now this. Also, what's with the new mods? Should I just install everything? I guess some are new maps, maybe some have an end game, or teams? Really don't know, so any basic info on all of this will be much appreciated!

I lied... I have one more question :D Noticed that loot is placed in all the different places now... there is none where there was before (like those wooden houses with a hallway and a dinning room). So where to look? -

I've started on a original mod today, some UK server. Zombies in every freaking house I enter, that must be new :D I forgot so many things, but the game isn't any less enjoyable than it was a year ago. -

hoffa (DayZ) replied to hoffa (DayZ)'s topic in New Player Discussion
Haven't gotten in game yet, I was uploading and downloading whole afternoon yesterday, I'm gonna try it in a n hour or so. HMS - thanks, I didn't even notice the mod selector there :D Yeah, I'm in Croatia, but last time I was playing I could play many US servers with low ping too. And I just checked it out again, ping looks "normal" now on commander. Around 2000 servers are now marked as less than 150, most of them being around 30-35. Tobias Winfro suggested reading about the mods - is there a topic/blog/some kind of article with all these mods described, or will I just have to find their own topics as they were released? That's the last question, I swear :D -

Ok, I installed DayZ 2017 for beginning... so now I just type in dayz 2017 in filters or? And yeah, about the ping... dayz commander's still showing over 300-400 pings as the lowest ping server. Is there something wrong with the commander or? -

So 2017 is the mod I wanted since I first played DayZ :D Thanks man! And I just install whatever I want from those and flip through them and select servers? Or I can have just one mod installed at the time? -
OK, first of all, sorry if this ends up being a useless thread, but I just want to know. Last time I played DayZ was over a month ago, had some test in college, so I had no time. I tried to play one time, but got sniped by two guys near Balota, so I didn't even want to start again until I had enough time. So what did change? For better and for worse, considering gameplay, options in game, bugs and glitches that were fixed, or that are occuring now, and most importantly - the players.
