Someone can tell me why is that funny?

The whole post was spot on, except one thing. People don't kill for supplies on a whole lot of occassions. And I'm not buying the "it's alpha, there's nothing else to do" excuse. Those people can play the mod and just test the SA, can't they? People kill people cause: 1) they are in danger 2) they want their gear (I seriously doubt that most manage not to ruin the gear in the process) 3) they are afraid of everything moving in the game 4) they want to ruin someone else's game just cause they can Number 4 is the problem for me. And number 3 and number 4 are not experiencing the game in my opinion. People who kill in order to ruin your fun should be hit in the balls. Repeatedly. I know I can't do anything about them, and most of them will probably get bored with the game eventually, but I don't understand people who insult or ruin everybody's time just cause that makes them laugh like Beavis and Butthead. A bunch of people who play DayZ don't have time to play all day, every day. And when such an idiot strips you of everything you've done in the game, you can't help it but to think of his mom and some nasty words. So they come here and share their frustration. People who are afraid of everything probably die sooner or later (scratch "later") and they don't really have to say much about anything other than bugged zombies, lack of colors for some items and so on. They're mostly playing on low-pop or empty servers, and once they get all the gear they might even go to a mid-pop server to try and actually play with other people. They die soon, and come here to whine about KoS and bandits. Now, I don't care how people play, you all payed for the game and you choose the style that fits you. But I don't understand why a huge number of players play this as a DM/TDM. I don't care, but I don't understand it either. They bought a survival game, and they refuse to make the most of it. I'll go out of my way just to avoid one single zombie that ended up inbetween two towns. Not cause I'm not armed, but cause I choose to make the zombie a threat. People lack imagination, and this game demands it. I don't have any friends who want to play DayZ, I want to try out a clan, but don't have a headset at the moment. But I'm having a blast dying all the time cause I walk up to different people and try to interact.with them, or cause I fail when sneaking past a zombie when I could have easily killed it. Since I bought the standalone almost a week ago I've met only 3 people who shot me, or hit me with an axe, or tried to. And one sniper who got me unconscious while I was telling a couple of German guys I was friendly. Ultimately I told them to kill me cause they couldn't help me with the sniper outside, but those 5 minutes with the black screen in front of me was the best interaction I had in a long time in game. It was intense, and nerve-wrecking at a few points, and I sacraficed myself so others get a better chance to survive. I play the game for that, for the interaction and different experiences. People who Kos only have two outcomes - they kill or die. Even if their victim manages to corner them, most of them won't play along with the new situation, but will log out. Where's the fun in that? So basically, I don't have a problem with any type of players, to each his own. I just don't understand how you can completely miss the point of something and not being able to appreciate its potential value. That's not just a game problem, I seriously think some of those players miss out on alot of things in life in general. And I think it's sad how we deteriorate - you have the ability to do ANYTHING you want (I'm still counting the mod into all of this), and you choose to sit in a bush and press one single mouse button time and time again. I swear to God, we got from Arma 2 to DayZ mod, and from mod to the standalone, I won't be at all surprised when someone makes a mod for DayZ making it Arma all over again. Disclaimer: wherever I said "you", I didn't mean you personally, but in general :)

    Rolling Update Rev - 0.43.116251

I think the green tab might be the circle, I'm not sure... anyway, server have "experimental/testing" in the name, and they are private as said above.

    Rolling Update Rev - 0.43.116251

1st post - rant about how infected shouldn't run. Well they're not zombies, they are infected people. Period. It's been like that since day 1 of the mod, probably cause they used Arma 2 engine and soldier's AI for them. Guess what? Soldiers run and zig-zag. And for the standalone they didn't make a new engine, they've just modded the Arma 2 engine. So you'll have to learn to live with that. There are major problems with them, sure. But this is alpha, and as we've seen - they are constantly being worked on. They'll stop running through walls, they won't spawn on top of you, and they'll probably spawn in hordes. Wait for it like everyone else is. They have to make sure each implementation works. Now, as long as we're on the subject. Does anyone know why they still are running through walls? I never stumbled upon explanation of the devs why this is happening and if they'll be able to fix it soon-ish?

    new to the dayz

To be fair, it is hard to understand posts lacking punctuation. The fact you don't care for commas and dots is irrelevant. They are not used for aestethic purposes, they serve as an integral part of every written text. I actually stopped bothering with reading your post and just read irishroy's corrected one. Anyway, welcome to DayZ and I hope you find a mentor soon.

    Dayz short films (fan made)

Great job! Does anyone remember the series about the mod? Real DayZ or something like that was the name, had a few episodes... if anyone has the link, I'd be very greatful

    Hardcore Vs Regular

I started playing on hardcore and it's a nightmare after being used to 3rd person. I want to play on hardcore for a few reasons (more immersive for me, apparently the community is more mature...) but I'm not at all aware of my surroundings... what's your experience? Do you get used to it, or does it require regular scanning of the surroundings and slow, easy movement?

    Can zombies hear us?

I just had an unpleasant experience of aggroing a zombie while prone. I didn't hold shit though, so maybe the noise levels are not yet separated for different type of stance, just the speed of movement?

I got rubberbanded on a GB hardcore server, that didn't happen to me before.

    Remove Payday Masks from Game

So? Don't use them. I don't like American assault rifles in post-apocalyptic former Soviet Union country, so I simply don't use it. Easy.

    Day Z Standalone NPC ideas...

I think we need just one NPC in every town, telling people there won't be any NPCs in the game.

    Rolling Update Rev - 0.43.116251

They come from everywhere! I was running from Berezino to the lumber mill, trying to aggro a few, and then came another player, being chased by another zed and asking me to help him. I killed those two with a pitchfork, and when he reloaded and shot the gun at least 5 or 6 more came running. If I didn't have the motorcycle helmet, I'd be dead in a second probably. They definitely make you more scared of what's going to happen, but they run around in weird circles sometimes, but that's not a huge problem. What I can't say for sure, but I think happened was... I think one zed killed another one :D I dodged his blow and another zed stood right in front of it and fell down dead. It was amazing to see :D Oh, and I told the guy to shoot me, I had those green bandages and he was bleeding and had none (I'm switching to a hardcore server anyway), so we couldn't find them in the grass since we had to move to avoid the comming zombies. As soon as I died I hear a ton of them and saw the guy running like crazy around my body, trying to loot me. Yeah, they're definitely not just a decoration anymore.

I can't wait 'till there's a couple more problems with the next update and people start loosing their mind again like it's never gonna get fixed :D

    Larger zombies?

Actually, they're not if you think about it. They aren't real, but they're somewhat plausible. There is a variety of parasites and diseases that cause behavioral changes. Like rabies for example (also, note that zombies in game are not undead, they are infected with a virus that causes rage). Rabies is spread through bites and scratches (sounds familiar?) most usually, and can cause different symptoms. Now think of the infection as a slightly mutated rabies virus which doesn't kill the infected a few days after the symptoms appear, and causes massive amount of rage. Rage increases adrenaline which could actually push infected to run faster/longer, jump higher and so on. Not by much, but a little. When you think about it that way, it's not impossible. And that very constant adrenaline rush is why I think zombies should be easy to model - slightly faster, slightly physically stronger than healthy humans, One shot to the head or heart kills them, they can take a few more shots anywhere else in the body than a healthy human and still go on (not alot more, just a couple of shots). Case closed. Simple, and you get the most possible zombies ever in any game or movie. Along with the idea of variety ofp hysical characteristics of infected people.

    Rolling Update Rev - 0.43.116251

Of course, that's why I've said "when they stop clipping through the walls". :) I'm going to play in a few minutes and see how it is now...
  16. hoffa (DayZ)

So you think you're better than me?

He actually heals?! Wow, I had no idea, I was fairly low on food with that character so I never got him up to energized. Thanks!

    Rolling Update Rev - 0.43.116251

I didn't try the game with fast zombies yet, but I wouldn't mind them being faster than us. They're rage infected after all, and every movie (can't talk about real life situations obviously) with infected living humans had them sprinting and jumping like crazy. Which is plausible since rage increases adrenaline and adrenaline just might push them over the edge a bit. So yeah, when they stop clipping through walls it would be great if we had to find a safe place to hide from them instead of just wasting them all. I love where this is going.

    Pitchfork man

People want mortars and RPGs, and our character can't even use the pitchfork properly
  19. I have found The Book of Mormon *dumb-dumb-dumb-dumb-dumb* It was stuck inside a boonie *dumb-dumb-dumb-dumb-dumb* Joseph Smith is KoS-type player *dumb-dumb-dumb-dumb-dumb* Camps in woods and looks for Jesus *dumb-dumb-dumb-dumb-dumb*

    Hunt The Dev

That would be just another excuse for PvP, people would KoS to get rid of the opposition, and then the Dev's team would have no problem dealing with the remaining few. Edit: Forget I said anything. I misunderstood the important part of your post. Yeah, I like that idea.

So much more horror than the SA

I'd agree to a certain point. Mod is as completed as the community made it complete. I'm sure there's things that can't be implemented to the Arma 2 original engine which will be available with the modded engine. I haven't played all of the mods. Mainly because I like the original idea the most. Pure survival. And one of the things I'd love to see in the SA as soon as it's possible would be making houses "our own", like in State of Decay (haven't played it, but saw some gameplay videos). Just to be able to get some wooden planks and board up the place in order to sleep/heal/wait out the storm/try to make the last stand against bandits and stuff like that. Nothing permanent, just to be able to make a place safe to spend "the night".

    Realistic Equipment

It's probably the same topic, but with more branches and leaves.

    Rolling Update Rev - 0.43.116251

And that fixes what? People already explained that Experimental and Stable are different versions, and if Experimental is working fine that doesn't mean Stable will too. The point is not to have hours of smooth gameplay, it's to report and fix shit.

So much more horror than the SA

You'll get over it soon, those zig-zaggin' zombies are a pain in the ass more than anything. They move as if they ate a couple of cans of tactical bacon each.
