    How would you say your server is for solo players? Solo players that are harcore noobs actually. I've decided to give hardcore a try cause it just seems more immersive and I've heard that the community is more mature and friendly. Checked out a couple of servers yesterday and today, and can't really tell the difference. I've been killed alot by the zombies, which is ok cause I'm still getting used to the camera and the view, but I've made no player interaction at all. People just shoot me or run along like I don't exist (needles to say, I've only had one single weapon so far since going harcore, and that was a badly damaged shovel) Edit: Guess it's all the same, since I've just been killed by a camper in Berezino hospital. At least it took him 10 shots to finally hit a still target, since i tried to type into chat.

    Cause I have an alternative to the M4, there wouldn't be one for the tank. I don't care, if people wanna use that stuff, they can put it in. I still won't use it. And what's appropriate to include? What you want to say is that in apocalypse, everything besides tactical gear and bacon just vanishes? Of course not.

    Make sure you download DayZ Commander if you haven't already. Easy to use, and you can download all the mods, directly from it, not just the original mod. Melee? Btw...

    Maybe make pre-made ghillie suits have pockets and crafted ghillie suits cover everything and make what you wear under them unaccessable? Then add a possibility of crafting pouches and making them "ghillie" as well... something like that, I'd like crafted stuff not to be as good in general.
  9. It's not working good if they spawn ON you when you shoot. Imagine defending yourself against a KoS player or a bandit, you have to shoot him, and that makes a couple of them to spawn around you. They should run towards gunshots, for sure, but not just spawn on you.

    This is a brand new game now actually, the mod was made for Arma 2. I don't know if you're playing the mod or the standalone game, but you're writting in the standalone part of the forum. I didn't find your English bad, so I didn't think you might have problems understanding or expressing yourself, if that was the case, I hope we got everything figured out now. And you have a nice infected apocalypse as well :)

    Well, that's the thing :D I'm not sure anymore if they went with the infected theory cause of the AI restrictions in the mod, or they actually like the idea of that more than zombies. If we're talking realism, I like the infected idea more, cause it may be plausible in some percentage. That being said, I like the idea of huge zombie hords more as a concept, and it's actually more scary than fast running infected (probably why Michael Myers made me shit my pants, and the Scream killer made me chuckle). It's just more horrifying not being able to escape someone or something that should never be able to match your speed.

    Yes and no. If you run out of ram space your computer starts using your hard disk, which will cause lag. Having more ram than you need won't do much if that's what you're asking.

    We were talking about why the "enemies" are infected people and not undead zombies. As far as I know, Rocket said that Arma 2 AI didn't let them make the infected walk when aggroed, so they just went with the infected story, instead of undead, walking zombies, cause soldiers in Arma 2 didn't actually walk when they attacked, and they zig-zagged which caused zombies in the mod to zig-zag also. I could be wrong, of course, when we talk about DayZ, but I was under the impression they've decided to keep most of the AI and hang on to the infected, and got rid of zig-zags and stuff like that. I don't know much about development and all that, but I thought that there will be no slow-walking zombies no matter what they do to the AI?.

    I'm actually amazed you find the copy/past from the dictionary more helpful than an explanation why game mechanics (and not the devs, or the wishes of the community) won't allow zombies to be what you want them to be. And yeah, I'm calling them zombies, cause I got used to the word. You can call them giraffes if you want to as long as you understand what they are. Simple as that. I'd actually like slow moving hordes too, but I understand that the engine won't allow it, and that's what I've been saying from the first reply. I don't know why you don't find that "helpful", but that's the way it is. They can't walk when they attack because soldiers in Arma 2 didn't walk when you attacked them. They ran and zig-zagged, At least they got rid of that last part. And why do you bring up your grammar? I never mentioned it. And I'm not a native speaker either. I'm keeping the ball this time and taking it home with me, I'm done with this conversation, since we're running around in circles here. (and don't take this offensive as well, I'm just saying I'm done with this topic)

    Guns blazing? I've commented on a fact that your first post was a rant (considering how much you hate things and think things are stupid) and proceeded to explain why zombies can't be what you want them to be. If that's guns blazing for you, then you need to man up a bit, the world's not a peachy place. I've taken time to explain to you why they are made the way you don't like them and you think that's condescending? And no, I call them "zombies" too, but I don't wanna tell people they're not undead, but infected, and then be a hypocrite and call them zombies myself (Merriam_Webster dictionary - Zombie: a person who moves very slowly and is not aware of what is happening especially because of being very tired : a dead person who is able to move because of magic according to some religions and in stories, movies, etc.) Yeah, I know that part about not seeing walls, but what I actually meant is - do they know why that is? I haven't seen anything ever officialy said about it, so I'm asking here. And now they can run up the stairs... we should, in theory, be able to hide behind stairs?

    It's funny, I never had any issues at all until the yesterday's hotfix. After it I had one case of rubberbanding, but that was it so far. I've had some problems with hotkeys before, but not anymore though. And about the daylight, I've had the opposite "problem" after the Wednesday update, 3 or 4 servers were night when the time was 14:00 to 17:30 on all.
  22. +1 on this, but I could live with the clipping a bit longer than with their current vision/hearing. It seems that the stance is somewhat relevant to their vision, but it's not relevant to their hearing? It seems they can hear you the same, no matter if you're moving fast while standing up, crouching or prone, and that they don't really hear you if you're slow. Until they see you, which I don't understad - when do they see you? I'd like to get some numbers on the distance required for them to spot you depending on your stance and movement speed, then we could maybe come up with some conclusions.

    I make my suggestions in the "Suggestions" subforum, for starters. I'm hardly a fanboy to the mod for understanding the restricitons that are present in the engine and the AI. Why you can't grasp that thought is beyond me. I can tell you that *they're not zombies but infected, cause I stated that you are a survivor who didn't get infected. And yes, devs want our opinion, and you're entitled to yours. But I've told you why there are still major problems. If you still fail to see why that is, I can't help you further. In a nutshell, the infected will be bugged for quite some time, and I really think the devs don't actually need about a thousand posts telling them that they are clipping through the walls and that it's a bug, cause they probably know that they are clipping through the walls and that it is indeed a bug. Same goes for their vision, hearing and superpowers. It needs to get fixed, it will get fixed, but it doesn't need to be pointed out that much cause doing that won't speed up the process. Sorry. For the scientific term of a zombie, I could try and tell you why I think the infected should actually be better/stronger/faster than us, and why it would actually be a plausible scenario and somewhat realistic state of infected people, but I see that you've decided to counter me on everything, and honestly, you're starting to annoy me a bit and I honestly like the most of this community, so I'm gonna keep it that way.

    If you think that explaining why "zombies" are infected and not undead, and why they'll never be what you wish them to be is QQing or not being helpful (I don't understand the rhino remark, they are helpful creatures, firemen of the wildlife), I can't help you further. Engine and AI can't support stereotypical slow-walking zombies that corner you and eat your face, that's all there is to it. And you've said "hate" or "stupid" more than a couple of times in your first post ever, I don't know what kind of response you expected. And there's no "story". You're a survivor who didn't get infected, living in an ex-Soviet country Chernarus. You alone make your own story from that point onwards.
