Night-time only events. Like heli crashes, but only at night. And obviously something that actually makes sense to be a night-time only thing. Stuff related to the tides? Nocturnal animals? less perceptive zombies, temperatures that vary during the year. Summer days being very hot and difficult to get around with with heavy gear, but the lower temperatures of the nights could make it bearable. Oh, I got it... Boat crashes! After all, lighthouses aren't working anymore, and this would normally only be an issue during nighttime or severely bad weather. You know... Stuff like that. Oh, and fireflies. <3 ^^

Raptor is confirming that the setup I made for you runs this game just fine, as they're pretty identical, apart from his processor being slightly faster. Sonicrainbrony is only proposing a change to the PSU, which is sadly not an option because the GTX 770 wouldn't run too well on a 500 watt PSU. Dchil proposed going for an i5 instead of an i7. Truth is, you're gonna pump money into this. Might as well pay a TAD bit more and get an i7. Even if it isn't gonna make a lot of difference for this game, it's not like you'll only ever be playing DayZ on it. Daze23 recommends going for a different brand of PSU, for quality's sake. Which is a valid remark. So instead of taking the PSU I listed before, you could get this one instead. Your call. This one is more expensive, but is pretty much guaranteed to be of high quality. Do you have an old computer case you can reuse? And a HDD?

See below. PSU - $40 (comes from $80. Price cut) Normally I'd go with a more renowned brand for PSU's, but this price cut is just too nice. GFX Card - $345 GTX 770 CPU - $330 i7, overclockable, dual channel Motherboard - $115 Didn't spend a lot of time picking this one, just took a cheap one to get the ball rolling here. Asus is a good option for decent low and mid-range motherboards, though. Ram - $85 Just picked this one as well. I am simply posting this to get things started. Like I said I hardly spent any time looking at the motherboard/RAM. Comment, criticize (in a constructive manner) and improve.

Go for an Intel. Either i5 or i7. Asus has cheap and decent motherboards for mid-range. Graphics: AMD or Nvidia... Doesn't really matter since you're on a budget. Just pick whatever you can get your hands on the cheapest. If you have an old but usable PC case, reuse it. You'll still need ram and about a 600 watt power supply. Might want to go for a 700 one, as having an insufficiently powerful power supply is a real pain. You'll probably be able to reuse a HDD from an older PC, right? Give us a budget.

They'll have to put a lot of time into optimizing it for consoles though, not out of the box...

It's not a matter of wanting to do it or not. They're a company, if it's possible, and if they can get money doing so, there's a 99% chance they will. However,before they will make a port, the game needs to be at the final stage of development, so after beta ends, and after the release version gets the last bit of patch-polishing. Alpha will take at least a year according to Rocket (can't find the source), and might take longer depending on the success. Talking about which, they said they expected 250.000 sales in the first quarter of 2014 to be a success already, and we got 800.000 sales in two weeks already, so it might take even longer than a year, now. And then there's beta, which would probably take another 6 months at least. Add a couple release-version patches to it, and I'd say two years , maybe one and a half (if they start putting people on the job of porting it when most programming work in alpha is done and they switch to beta) before they START working on the port. That is, if it's deemed possible. It's a very resource intensive game, and the new "next gen consoles" are a flop when it comes to processing power. I mean, ps2 to ps3 was WOW, even as a PC player I have to say that. I was expecting something similar this time, too, but the performance increase was so small I'm disappointed. After all, with all the console ports coming to PC, console specs also limit the quality of PC games. Sadly.

Seems like a typical thing to do during an apocalypse, tbh. It wouldn't make sense to make them rarer, from a realism/authenticity perspective. You see more people wearing calmer coloured clothing than flashy though. Even if it makes people prefer camo colour, I think it's normal and should stay like this. I'd love me some marine uniforms or police clothes, though... A military parade uniform... Dang.

They'd bounce off military helmets though, even badly damaged ones, and a bullet proof jacket wouldn't even get scratched by it. Would be funny.

A green hoody or jacket isn't rare, nor military. To be honest, IRL you hardly see the flashy stuff. If you wear a flashy yellow jacket here, people will look at you funny. It's good the way it is atm.

Alienware is overpriced. It's like Apple, but worse. And a gaming PC doesn't have a locked bios and decent expansion capabilities. Plus, a laptop version of for example a graphics card, is mever on par with their desktop counterpart. Usually they're a renamed, older gen desktop card.

I really want to see some kind of storage in the game soon...

Or, you know... Both? There should be no such thing as skills in the game. Make a poll and confirm my suspicion that most of the community feels like this.

I loved vanilla private hives in the mod. Shame it was abused like it was, though. Now I'm not sure I want them any more. At least not as long as admins have access to the databases. And OP... Keeping cheats and wonky stuff like that out is way more important than giving the abysmal Machinima part of the DayZ community their favour.
