Fix The North West Airfield (Nwaf) [Civilianize]
[email protected] replied to alaskafish (DayZ)'s topic in General Discussion
Not saying I dont want mroe unique airfields, but from all airfields in teh game, NWAF shouldnt be the one to be turned civy. -
Fix The North West Airfield (Nwaf) [Civilianize]
[email protected] replied to alaskafish (DayZ)'s topic in General Discussion
I'd like to see this for Balota instead. NWAF is... NW. Balota is right at the coast. Good gear mostly inland, civilian/few military stuff at the coast. Doesn't really seem very touristic though, Chernarus that is. Doubt they'd invest in anything more elaborate than a small national airfield. -

Blood Test Kits In Med Bags.
[email protected] replied to Zedicologist's topic in General Discussion
Would be nice if we knew our own blood type by default, and only needed the test kits to test the blood of captives or w/e. But yeah, adding them to the med kit would also work. -
Reduce The Common Lag In Dayz [Tutorial]

I'm using remote desktop from work to get to my PC at home, everything became more fluid! Placebo or for real? Almost like I'm on my PC physically! -
Do NOT let the admins have direct access to the database. Let the databases be hosted by the devs. This eliminates modding and any kind of admin abuse apart from kicking and banning, whilst still providing the security, closed-off community and hopping-proofness of a private hive. And maybe once a server goes down permanently, the hive of said server becomes available to other servers, so the data on them isn't lost permanently.

Using and hiding vehicles on a 100+ server with this map would be close to pointless, too...

The Way I Hope Private Hives Will Be.
[email protected] replied to [email protected]'s topic in General Discussion
First we only had one central hive, like it was at launch of SA. Servers had to be authorized before they would show up in the browser. Very regulated, even to the point the server name had to follow a certain pattern and layout. Then it became too much to manage because of how big it all grew, and anyone could host a server. Still no private hives. 99% of the people still followed the title prescriptions. Then someone released more server files with the option to host private hives, stored on the host PC itself, instead of on the central hive server. Not popular at first, as a lot of people considered it un-DayZ-ish. Then shizloads of hackers came, and DayZ had pretty much zero protection, but private hives had admins, so that was a plus. That's when they became popular. Also eliminated server hopping and ghosting. I'd say from oktober 2012 onwards, private hives were the way to go. Then less and less people followed the guidelines for server names. More modding started to appear, custom buildings, and entire new maps, as well as 24/7 daylight, spawn with anti material snipers, spawn with gear in exchange for RL money, 10000+ vehicles, safezones and all that crap. And that's where it went wrong. you obviously also had a lot of admins abusing the access to the database they had. Lesson learned from the Mod: Private hives are great as they build the best communities and integrity, but make it so admins can't abuse and can't turn it into a game it's not supposed to be. -
Lack Of Points Of Interest (Central Map Part)

Fair enough.

God, I hope you're right! -
Yeah... I seem to be the only person who loved the empty fields around the area where Dichina military base is now, it seems. Shame, as it felt more realistic to me. The map was more absorbing. Though the towns which have been redesigned look amazing now. Then again, helicopter crashes made it worthwhile to go out into the fields back then. -Balota -NWAF -NEAF -Crashed ship -The huge prison they still need to give a location -Zelenogorsk military base Dichina military base -Bor military base -And he's still hoping for a missile base. -Others want radiated zones. Personally, I'd love if they'd increase the map size with fields, forests, and small villages. I mean, imagine a village like Olsha, 16 KM inland, north west part of the map. Great to have a base near it, roleplayers can set up there in relative peace, it has character, spread out the bases a bit more, give us a military harbour with some cruisers we can loot, and remove an inland base so it's spread out better, and more original, too.... Islands three times the size of Skalisty, 3 KM into the see, giving some use to boats unlike the mod. Some small islands the size of a handkerchief, which can have a crashed patrol boat on it sometimes, similar to heli crashes in the mod... I know I'm pretty much alone in this, though...
-
Hope not. If they create too many points of interest, the map will lose authenticity. I mean, how many crashed cargo ships, military bases and rocket bases do you have withing a 12KM radius? Kinda hoping they'll expand the map with some fields and bushes/forests again.
-
I will shoot you on sight, I'm not a COD kiddie though. This game gives me adrenaline rushes, and is much, much slower paced. No roleplaying when I'm in town, though! It does help to kick out all the casuals. (1.000.000+ sales, sadly)

Cannot Use An Item (E.g. Drink/eat) If It Is "ruined"
[email protected] replied to KC_Admiral's topic in General Discussion
Rocket said he'll give items HP, so for example if you get hit by an M4 bullet, doing 3k damage, a protector case with 2000 hp and 2 cans of beans with each 500hp will get ruined, but the rest of the items will not. Yeah yeah, banditry yadayada. Irrelevant. -
Map Converted To Island With Various Weather Climates - Images For Example
[email protected] replied to dashx73 (DayZ)'s topic in Suggestions
Making it an island would be a setting buster for me personally. I'd rather imagine were on a part of a bigger continent, instead of an island people decided to settle for whatever unclear reason. A land tongue? Maybe. MAAAAYBE. Still rather not, though. And def. not a perfectly square one. That's what irked me about GTA5. SA had such a nice map, the mountain area to the south-west, on a different island almost, and GTA5 makes it a flipping square map... As for snowy areas, I'd rather they implement seasons, and make the big hills north of NEAF, the hill north of Berezino, Altar, the huge mountain between electro and Cherno and some other hill tops snowy during winter months, instead. Otherwise people would only use the thermal gear for that small corner of the map anyway, which would make it necessary to put a base or something there otherwise no one would ever go there. Would feel too gamey. -
Rage Time: Game Mechanics Suck, No Fix For This
[email protected] replied to P3Nn's topic in General Discussion
Seems more like it wants to teleport the player into a correct position to use the ladder first, and then actually 'attach' the player to the ladder. And somewhere in between theres a delay and if the delay is longer than the time it takes for you to hit the ground, you fall to your death. I played the leaked alpha last year, tried to use the ladder on the trains. Launched me from Balota all the way to the small radio tower on the bushy hill in north Cherno. Took me some time to come by from laughter. ^^ Haha. -

The most common 'cheat' used in DayZ...
[email protected] replied to Fabik's topic in General Discussion
Yea, but still not the same at all. =p A guy can dream, though. I'd just use a sandbox to run TS in. Other people would use mumble or another laptop or w/e. -
Lag compensation then. Yesterday I walked past the garage boxes in Stary, guy shot at me, didn't take a single bullet. I shoot him and he dies after 10-15 bullets. I had 30 MS to the server and saw him fire, so I should've died there, regardless of his ping. IDK what, but something is off there. And no, Rocket doesn't work on netcoding... >>
