You also getting the DirectX error when not launching through Steam? Tried reinstalling all the software that came with the game (the redistributables)? Tried locking the resolution? Windows 7? Edit: I added the files that gave the error for this guy in a small rar file. I made it quite obvious where you should put them. That said you should be really careful when you download DLL's from an unknown source. Whilst they are clean, there is of course no reason for you to believe me when I say that. As such, don't download if you don't want to take the risk. Verify the game doesn't think there's a second monitor? I know it probably won't help, but any input is still better than none, right? Updated DirectX? Tried reinstalling all supporting software that came with the game? How's arma 2?

EVERYTHING we had in the mod. And I know I'm alone on this one, but: Turretless slow-as-phook-T34, please... Pretty please, devs? Oh, and Barges that we could deck out as bases and car-transport should they add more islands (which they should!) Should be able to mount MG's on them by crafting whilst having the actual MG on you.

Not unless a player actually actively poisons it. Well water is quite clean IRL, normally. Might get some diarrhea if you're not used to it, but seeing as our guys and galls are Chernarussian, that should be a-ok. I actually had some serious dehydration issues because I refused to drink from a pond earlier today. Illness from ponds should be turned up though, but not before water boiling is fixed. -
We need more spawns at electro and Kamenka tbh. Haven't spawned there even once yet.

It should be as complicated as RL, or at least as complicated as TOH. This is part of making DayZ a game where real-life knowledge matters, and it gives purpose to keeping individuals in your group/alive. What point is there for a clan to fight over a heli if no one knows how to fly it? Yet that one "noob" survivor that can't get off the coast even if he tried, can? Guess they can make a deal. Stuff like this is what the game needs tbh. -

It does spawn all over the place tbh... Just not at Balota. I often get 200+ rounds simply from checking NWAF once on a server with about 20 people. Crazy how few people show up there now. Should nerf Balota.... -

What got to me was the way OP classifies players by their playstyles, basically calling people who shoot on sight retards, and people who play as medics should be praised to heaven and back. Also saying being a medic is harder, which it isn't. There's nothing hard about stocking up meds, going to a guy, trying to help him, and then get shot 60% of the time. Infuriating and patience wrecking? Yes, sure. If what I do is roleplaying, then the RP level of most people I try to counterargue on this is much higher. Unless the other person is 0 threat to us, I'll shoot without a second thought, and he is trying to say it's wrong, and not fun. Well, I've been playing since early june (EDIT: 2012) like this, and it's fun to me alright. And yes, it will snowball like in the mod. But why should I care? I have my group already. I am not selling myself short (his words), I simply don't have a reason not to. Some people like the occasional shootouts, in a survival scenario, and not interacting with randoms. Oh, and please read this in a debate-y voice, not an angry one. Neither is this a personal comment on anyone. ^_^ -

I want civilian weapons, handguns, but also military weapons. It has to have variation. Not 10 kinds of bolt actions and 15 kinds of 9mm and civilian shotguns... The attachment system is pretty much proof we'll have more military weapons than some people here would like. Hm, I'm not the type to make a fuss about it tbh, just would fit the "old" soviet country setting more I think. But like I said: it's a detail, still cool. -

Sure, one with a wooden grip and stock, though. But since the Dragunov in the mod had a lower rate of fire than the DMR, and had a much smaller mag I refrained from naming it. -

Not a fucktard. Biased? Yes, but we're all human. I don't have any problems with AS50's either, as they're a lot less deadly than DMR's, anyway. Never got the hate for that gun, even if it wasn't very believable. The inability to manage the total amount of weapons was what was wrong with the mod when it comes to powerful guns, tbh. -

All of those are available in that area of Europe (Czech Republic) except for the m14, hence why I said maybe. The MG42 was widely distributed throughout the continent, and a lot of countries kept using the ones they could get their hands on for decades. After the war a lot of countries, mostly Yugoslavia produced it en masse, too. DMR doesn't mean it has to be the one we had in the mod. Could be a Russian variant for all I care, as long as it's 7.62 and has a similar rate of fire. Basically any battle rifle that has a scope could fit this role, loosely. Also: Rocket has said he doesn't want to stick to Soviet/Russian weapons because he wants to use the same arsenal on other maps, too. As for LMG's being useless in a zombie apocalypse and no one wanting to lug around 12KG's: That's the trade-off of it all, along with less accuracy unless prone. If you want to use a 7.62 MG you'll have to go prone or use an object for support, which means a lot more preparation than what mostly happens in an encounter in DayZ, tbh. Once cars are implemented, I imagine them being very useful for ambushes on roads. -

I want an MG42, PKP, DMR, SVU and possibly m14 (which would be convertable to DMR anyway (extended barrel, bipod, scope)). No guns are taboo for me. -
Minimum req are the requirements for having the game work. 5 FPS or not. And yea, the game isn't optimized yet.

They haven't done any client-side optimizations yet. Plus there's something wrong with Nvidia cards atm. My old HD5870 outperforms 780's with two fingers up his fanhole.
