PU-scope, long-range scope, bi-pod, maybe silencer, extended mags, recoil compensator? Mosin has it.
-
This is a semi-auto AK... Relax... ;)

I'm quite sure the ammo type is just temporary. I'm with you on the attachments.

I said if they stick with their balance in ARMA, nor RL. =p

So the nonstop Red Chains?
[email protected] replied to gh0st1nth3sh3ll's topic in General Discussion
I usually always have a red chain on connecting, then it goes away again. I think it's because you're still catching up on syncing stuff with the server, even a while after you log in. If you have it after that, it's a connection thing. Edit: I love Ghost in the Shell. -
Is there going to be a debug monitor?

Blood pressure meter should be a medical instrument. Oh God, I just had a good idea, didn't I?! -
Ideas for dayz: SAFE ZONES and ROAMING HORDES
[email protected] replied to J3D1M1NDTR1CK5's topic in General Discussion
Hordes yes, half confirmed, safe zones no. They don't fit the antigame mindset of DayZ. Make your own safe zone and launch a community, I'd say. I'd go more into detail and such, but this has been proposed so many times in the past. Please find one of the other posts they made on this this week, and use that one. -
I know IRL it wouldn't be great at it, but 5.56 still packs a good punch at long range (like I said, I one hit killed a zombie at 500m). The M4's main issue is that it's inaccurate without bipod, and has no high-powered scope. This gun will resolve this, plus the bullet will most likely have a shorter travel time. I'm in love!
-
Nope, it's gonna be a semi-auto AK-47. Less DPS, probably more accurate and allows for more snipe-y attachments than the AKM/AK-47 will. If they follow the balance they had in the ARMA series, it's damage output will be about a third more powerful than 5.56 with better accuracy and bullet speed. 5.56 already kills in two hits, so it will probably not make any difference in close-range, whilst having a longer range before it becomes a three hit kill at long range. An infected is still one hit kill at 500m by the way, tested with my bi-pod M4 on the runway at NWAF. Guys... This is almost a DMR-substitute, now I think of it. Dang, a lot of them anti-KOS/Walking Dead/roleplayers will be not so pleased I think. It perfectly fits the lore/setting though, so they have no foot to stand on this time.

Stop with the "This weapon doesnt belong" posts.
[email protected] replied to bassist05's topic in General Discussion
Wasn't there a NATO conflict in the area? At least that's what the mod made everyone believe, iirc. For me anything is cool, I mean, for every major NATO rifle there's a Soviet counterpart anyway. People just think that having those guns would turn the game into an arcade shooter, which is totally false. I mean, it's pretty certain we'll have 7.62 semi-autos at one point, and guess what this game has? An attachment system! Smack a scope on it, and bam! DMR substitute. And that's good! I like a lot of different type of weapons, not a huge selection of weapons that are nearly the same, like 10 kinds of 9mm pistols or pellet tubes. That's gameplay right there, for me. However, the spawning of loot was too simple in the mod. Even if you had a weapon with only 0.1% spawn chance, there wasn't a max cap, so as long as you let enough time pass, you'd have an entire server full of said gun. SA should fix that if they can implement their gear spawn control system. -

Best settings to improve FPS for radeon 6850.
[email protected] replied to chewythefirst's topic in General Discussion
I have a 5870 and never have dropping framerates... Resolution is my native one, anything related to textures is at max (except for their resolutions, which are at 100%), objects to the lowest, low anti aliasing, and shadows off. IMHO, object settings is a killer. -
Game as support / medic / hero... It's quite sad
[email protected] replied to TimM1983's topic in General Discussion
Japan is one of the last countries I'd like to be in during an apocalypse, and I'm a Japan fanboy... Preferably Canada or Iceland. Yup, Iceland... Or Micronesia, and start my own country! But yeah, it's sad. I KOS armed people, but punching people in the face who just offered to help you is just sad. -
I want small billboards at certain cities and crossroads, Which I could write on or stick a paper on. Would be a nice way of communicating tbh. Kind of like the quests billboard in Borderlands, but without the quests. Just players texts.

I love ATI (Screw AMD) for their cheaper alternatives, whilst sometimes releasing some really great stuff (HD4000 series, just to name one), but AMD CPU's are simply a bad idea for a gaming PC, IMHO.

It will take about a year to leave alpha, which leaves beta for another what? Six months? Then another couple months of minor updates I presume, and then they might start developing for consoles, at which point it'll probably take a certain amount of months before they can give a date. Rocket said that the more interest there is for the game, the more time they'll get to put into the game. Quite sure that mark has been reached already, tbh. Also, the team doesn't like giving dates anymore. For some unclear... mysterious... probably way over our head, incomprehensible reason. I'ma join the two-years-from-now-crowd. God, cross platform please! The tears! The PC sale numbers!

Base building as leveling system.
[email protected] replied to Magnusveritas's topic in General Discussion
I am against both locking stuff and tents that can't be looted from. I don't like the idea of leveling either, but the latter is a personal opinion, whilst the former two go straight up against the concept of DayZ. A tents safety should be its location and camouflage, and that's it. The game will have instanced bases if Rocket gets what he wants, which will allow you to code your own defense or something similar. I never really got that part. I'm sure someone else here can explain further. Tents in the mod were too easy to find, though. Stashes were great, but too limiting, and still too large (the largest one) It should be possible to bury a locker or a crate or something similar. Once client side settings get locked on the server, that should help a bit too, as I imagine most hosts would ramp up tree details, providing better camouflage. -
Game won't launch, nothing happens when I press play
[email protected] replied to dcam0326's topic in General Discussion
Glad it worked ;) Have fun! Quite sure he meant pressing play in Steam. =P But yeah, I have that too half the time. -
Shot a guy with my m4 at 400 meters from the Berezino construction site. Was pretty accurate tbh. Deployed bipod, acog, and fully pristine magpull grip and stock. I took a Mosin hit to the shoulders from his friend and survived.

Just been GIVEN "end game" gear. Good Samaritans or spawned items?
[email protected] replied to Clint Law's topic in General Discussion
Doubt it's hacked in, personally. Even if it was, you won't be banned. -
Oh, and a foldable glider to glide off the hills with which would take the backpack slot.

I got really sad when I read CPU controlled. There should be no human AI in the game, and I believe Rocked voiced that shared opinion somewhere in the past. Can't recall when/where though, so don't quote me on that. The answer to not getting KOS'd is not entering any dangerous areas. And if you really need to, scope it out first. Pick an area where hardly anyone ever comes, and stick with it. Like the small village at Rog's, or the small village north of Berezino. Check out the military loot when it's dark and less people are on. I only got shot at once playing that way, and that was my bad for running through the middle of an open field. Even if it was in the middle of nowhere.

Eh, not the rar itself, the DLL's inside. If you open the rar, you should see two folders, each one of them containing the DLL you're missing (or is broken). One I put into system32, and the other one in sysWOW64. Both are in your Windows folder. Make a back up of the files you're replacing, just in case. -
I don't know really. I killed a guy inside of the firestation at NWAF. My friend at the control tower didn't hear the shots.

Often servers have more up-to-date versions than the client, but are backwards-compatible anyway. Right...?
