Hicks, I gotta ask, when did it go from "at least 10 years" of continued development to "at least 5 years?" http://youtu.be/vtG5xaUKSy0?t=26m30s https://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=&v=9EMBbge8fMk#t=16m18s

Might be possible when server performance gets a boost, probably mainly once the new Sensors module is implimented. Eugen has said Sensors are the crux of the matter when it comes to zombie numbers.

Huh, the DayZ executable got renamed from DayZ.exe to DayZ_BE.exe? https://steamdb.info/app/221100/history/
-
Where is their source on this? Did BI exclusively release this info to Eurogamer? I guess they are waiting for today's Status Update to release it on Dayz.com

Okay, so is this game worth "trying" to play again?

I probably assumed too much from your verbiage. Retracted. -

There are plenty of reasons people have that they stop playing this game. ChainReactor just asked for more information, and not in any kind of offensive manner. -
Hicks, this Steam review should probably be addressed publicly?
WhiteZero posted a topic in General Discussion
* ****************spammylinkremoved************** This review makes a lot of wild claims about unfair banning and wrongful review flagging. A "review" like this might not be such an issue, if it weren't for the fact it's the top review with a disproportionate amount of votes ("4,553 of 5,356 people (85%) found this review helpful"). The visibility and prominence of this review only acts to damage the credibility of the project. I'm thinking the claims need to be publicly addressed and clarified in very visible way in order to quell any assumptions of wrong-doing by the DayZ Staff. Note : * (not OP's fault).- 1 reply

Hoo! 50 player server testing on Stable branch today. Wonder if they've fixed the persistence/loot spawn issue yet http://steamcommunity.com/games/221100/announcements/detail/144437682212278877

Eugen was talking about Sensors quite a bit on Reddit lately. Exciting stuff: http://www.reddit.com/r/dayz/comments/2hwfye/75_player_server_online/ckx8fse http://www.reddit.com/r/dayz/comments/2hwfye/75_player_server_online/ckxasnt?context=3 http://www.reddit.com/r/dayz/comments/2hwfye/75_player_server_online/ckx0163

Thats gonna have to wait for modding support, which is different from shards.

That "Issues" section is "Known Issues," correct? Just to be clear

Experimental Branch: 0.49 Discussion

Think you guys could requisition a few hundred dollars from the $52+ million in DayZ sales for a Forum upgrade? ;) -
http://dayz.com/dev-hub Seriously, today's Twitch Stream isn't listed, still says "No Events Planned" and the Known Issues section still lists 0.47 Mockup of how it should look:

What's the current hacking status like in DayZ:SA?
WhiteZero replied to RadikulRAM's topic in General Discussion
You guys should maybe adopt /r/DayZ's hacking discussion rules Just provide a sticky explaining this and instructions on how to properly report them. Dean even agreed with this. Done deal. -

Considering it's a 9V powering it, thats pretty good! lol -
So has there been a wipe yet or not?
WhiteZero replied to billyangstadt's topic in General Discussion
During Beta/Alpha/RC you have no guarantee of keeping your character. And there will probably be a wipe when there is Full Release. Rule #1 of DayZ, don't get too attached to your character/gear, weather that be because of getting killed or a wipe needed during development. -

I don't think the CPU has a unique ID visible to software. Hasn't been since the Pentium III -
What's the current hacking status like in DayZ:SA?
WhiteZero replied to RadikulRAM's topic in General Discussion
Depends on the Hardware ID method. Most of the time it's done by kind of "hashing" a hardware snapshot of your PC. Various parts of that can be changed or spoofed on the fly. For example -

Unless its on your phone, those apps don't have access to GPS... because no one's PC has GPS built in. They are using your network identification to get a rough idea where you are located. Not at all useful for what you suggested. -

WhiteZero replied to RadikulRAM's topic in General Discussion
There are people whose job it is, every day, to think of and develop features to combat hacking. Chances are that no one here could suggest something that these guys haven't already tried or are already doing, if its even feasible. -

WhiteZero replied to RadikulRAM's topic in General Discussion
MACs can be spoofed or just replace the NIC. Anti-Hacking is a constant arms race that can't be won, only treated. There are plenty of programs/scripts out there to spoof MACs. Scriptkiddies can do it too... -

WhiteZero replied to RadikulRAM's topic in General Discussion
Oh lawd, the uproar from this would be immense. "DayZ tracks players physical location!" You must be joking, as the privacy implications there are outrageous. Not to mention you could just A) Login from a different location, B.) spoof your location or C) someone else playing the game in the house, who isn't cheating, also gets banned. -

While 0.50 is "just another number," I hope they do make it special. :beans: -
Nope. Always check SteamDB before assuming its a new push.
