I was recently playing and I was chatting with some friends when all of a sudden someone named Joker logged in directly in front of us. We asked him if he was foe for friendly, he didn't respond and instantly alt+F4'd we waited a moment and he didn't re-appear, we walked outside and a couple seconds later we started getting fired upon from a different location, we took cover and started firing back (Name was joker as well) and he combat logged again. At this point we're getting aggravated. This went on for about 5 minutes before he finally got the jump on us and took one of us out (me). The rest of my group scattered at that point. Now considering I owned the server, to me this is a ban-worthy offense. I have the guy's GUID and such and am tempted to perma ban him from my server. Perhaps some community input would help ease my anger with this stupid game mechanic. I feel like DayZ is trying to be as realistic as possible and there's nothing realistic about this. Just a bunch of exploiters.

Yeah it's really ruining the game for me at this point.

I was checking the military tents in Stary when all of a sudden I was clipped by a crawling zombie, I quickly got up and shot it in the head with my rifle (M24) which alerted every zombie in the vicinity. I quickly realized that I was bleeding out and needed to book it to survive. After running over to the church and through a building I had lost the horde of zombies I accumulated during my escape. It then dawned on me that I had already used my last bandage getting TO the military tents. At this point I'm at around 4000 blood and panicking. I make my way back through the town and started to look through all the houses for a bandage... At this point I've lost all hope I had about 1000 blood left so I sat myself down in a building within Stary to die. I notified a couple of friends of where I'm going to die, but neither of them were remotely near me. As I sat there for a moment I noticed the room in front of me had a respawn and wouldn't you know it, a bandage had appeared. I quickly started to bandage myself, I was pretty sure I wasn't going to make it but alas I was bandaged with 8.6 blood left. I was SO happy I found that bandage! I then made my way out of Stary and killed 2 cows (after becoming unconscious about 3 times) for food to restore my blood. How close have you come to to dieing?

Do you know what zero tolerance is? The rules are, NEVER lock or password protect your server. Even doing so for 10 seconds is against the rules and in my eyes should result in your server being blacklisted. I've had my server for nearly a month now and not once have I ever locked it or added a password. It hasn't even crossed my mind.

Unfortunately the DayZ dev team haven't figure out a way to correctly do this. They were in the process of having something similar, but the ArmA 2 engine didn't allow it.

I believe all clients of Host Altitude just received a mass email regarding the locking of servers.

Host Altitude typically waits till the patch is somewhat tested by the general population, then adds it to my download queue. I then go into BERCon and give a 5 minute warning and the reason as to why the server is restarting. I then stop the server and do a manual update.

There goes the neighborhood... literally.

I'm experiencing the same issue around military areas. Presuming it's either the tents or barb wire. nVidia Geforce 480 superclocked, with most recent beta drivers.

I have a feeling they're also attempting to add the recent patches to current customer servers as well. I can imagine they're extremely busy at the moment. Unfortunately HostAltitude can't force datacenters to set up servers on demand, especially when there's quite a few of them. I imagine Host Altitude won't count the days your servers aren't available as days of service provided. Unfortunately I doubt you can inquire for refunds as stated in their ToS (I presume, all hosts have some variation of no refunds for digital goods). Reason being is they've already put in the order for said server and have been charged themselves. Just be patient.

I most certainly respect the route you've taken to ensure your clients are taken care of. I would hate for you to think that I'm hypocritical in this situation, I too have experienced hardware failure (as stated previously) and was held liable, It really does put a damper on doing what I love. I suggest adding a separate SLA for game servers, or DayZ servers specifically.

I notice my server's time becomes unsync'd, I'm pretty sure it's GMT -4 EST (I have a server with you in NY). I noticed when I logged in last night at around 9PM EST, my in-game watch said it was 5:30PMish... and still bright out.

I was able to install the 310 beta patch.

I don't disagree, I just sent TheG4nk a PM saying... I feel something could be worked out, perhaps in the future Vilayer will be more readily available to correct hardware issues. Possibly make an announcement with a plan for future issues of the same variety.

Vilayer's SLA states the following: 30*0.05 = 1.5 = 150% = full month of free service. Current! Exclusions to said SLA. (None in which are an issue as far as you know.)

I've been with HostAltitude.com aka dayzhosting.com for almost a month now with little to no issue. The support response time is a tad slow (about half a day to a day), but that's because they're in the UK, our time difference is a bit extreme. They seem to do well with keeping servers up-to-date with the latest verified beta patches. Note! Client updates are backwards compatible with previous versions of servers. Lets say ArmA 2 Beta 96310 (or whatever it's at now) was just released and you instantaneously update both the server and client. You would still get a rejection notice from Battleye because they would still need to verify the latest version of the beta.

The obvious fix to this problem would be to lower the health of survivors and zombies.

I've reformatted/completely removed Arma 2 / OA before... Your equipment/characters are tied to your CD-Key, so it's not that.

Tents are a little jacked up at the moment on all servers, after server restarts they tend to not save. As for the vehicles you'll have to wait for a reboot, I can do so now if you wish? Current reboot times are 12AM, 5AM, 12PM, 5PM The tent issue SHOULD be corrected in the next DayZ update (tomorrow).

A friend and I were checking out Pogorevka when off to the corner of my eye I seen an unarmed person running down the road. Of course we started firing pistol rounds from a distance. The guy zig zagged his way into a building across the street from us. My friend followed him in of course, ready to finish this poor sap off... All of a sudden *BOOM* M67 grenade... All of the windows along with the side of the building blew out. My friend flung out of the door, luckily he was still alive, I quickly bandaged him and gave him a blood transfusion. I kid you not, he was unconscious for about 10 minutes after that.

I'm fairly sure the minimum slots a server can have is 40. I'm quite certain that's an enforced rule.

Once I found a vehicle, put my stuff in a tent, threw flares and glow sticks all over the car, and drove through elektro. I made it half way through town before blowing up (ran into a building).
