    Fellow Highwaymen look here

Sounds interesting, when I don't feel like being a Hero I do hold ups like this, but it's a bit hard when your on your own. I'll be interested in joining you, but where are you from I'm from the UK and the time difference may be a bit of a problem

    A little story...

It just started with me spawning in cherno, it was around 11pm GMT so there was little light in the server, I ran from cherno to loot the northern fire station in elektro. When I entered the fire station I couldn't believe my luck I found a DMR with several mags, binos and some food and water. All geared up and generally happy I was walking outside the fire station when out of the corner of my eye I saw a figure as I usually only kill when I have to I ran and hoped he didn't see me, I ran around the corner where I turned to see if he followed me, I waited it was very dark but I heard his footsteps then out of the darkness 2 shots fired at me, I could tell he wasn't aiming down the site as one round hit me in the arm and the other just above my head, it was dark but when he fired his shots illuminated the area for long enough to set my aim on his torso, I retaliated and fired 2 shots I heard the crack and then the sound of flies I knew he was dead. After killing him I inched towards the sound of flies, I checked his gear to find he had a revolver, a alice pack and NVG's I was quite amazed how I wasn't dead but when I put the NVG's on I saw that who I killed was a bandit. I would of gone straight into town, but as I just had a close encounter I decided to go on the hill and scout out the city a bit more, as I was scanning I saw a figure running down the road, I scanned at him and saw he was a fresh spawn, I moved my aim away when I heard a gunshot, I scanned too see the source of the gunshot a bandit on a roof he fired a second shot, then I intervened I fired and hit him in the head I now had 2 bandit kills. I moved my aim back to the fresh spawn to see he had been hit, he was bandaging himself, but could walk he had a broken leg, I was about to head down and help him when I saw 2 other bodies walking towards him, one had an AK and the other had what appeared to be a Lee Enfield, I decided I wasn't going to let the new spawn get killed but to my surprised the two figures stopped looked at him and then gave him morphine, it surprised me that these people didn't kill him on site. I was so amazed that I didn't notice that the now 3 man group was heading towards me, as they didn't shoot on site I decided to reveal myself, we greeted each other and I handed the fresh spawn the revolver. We decided to head to the NW airfield in order to get the best loot and hopefully there wouldn't be as many bandits on, so we headed North. While we was walking I realized the fresh spawns name was "Chris" the other two were "Krullboll" and "Dave", he walked for around 30 mins when we came across a 500M stretch of fields with no forests we decided to rush it, we only made around 300M when we heard the unforgettable sound of Helicopter blades, then it went silent, then helicopter then fell from the sky and crashed the silence and darkness with an explosion and a crimson flame, we ran to the helicopter where the corpses of some would be survivors had jumped at a way to high altitude, I checked one corpse when I saw headlights in the distance, I yelled to my friends to run for the treeline me Chris and Krullboll ran, but Dave continued looting we made it too the treeline when I saw 2 cars pull up the passengers disembarked and loaded there weapons, we started running again but I turn around just in time to hear a crack of gunfire and Dave get hit by multiple shots, time seemed to slow down as his corpse crumbled to the ground even taking rounds while he was falling, I turned around and continued North with the group of 3. We ran maybe another 15 mins before we stopped, and questioned why our late friend didn't just run with us like we told him too, Krullboll was cursing to himself he was angered by his friends death, he explained that Dave was the first guy who didn't just shoot him. We continued running sharing jokes and contemplating where those 2 cars came from, our conversation was stopped when we stood in amazement we made it, the North West Airfield was insight. We went into the barracks and grabbed some loot and we saw on the runway a helicopter, amazingly it only required fuel and a rotor blade in which we found nearby, I saw headlights on the run way again 2 sets it was the cars again they seemed to be following us, Krullboll started the helicopter up me and Chris ran towards him but we was cut off by the trail of gunfire from the convoy, I told Krullboll to take off, he did and flew away. Me and Chris ran into the barracks and held there then, we heard our followers taunting us saying "come out, come out" By the sound of gunshots there must have been at least 5 of them, me and Chris contemplated quitting but I don't agree with that, I stayed and would take as many down as possible, I heard them saying stack up, we are going in, then I heard that low humming of helicopter blades. It was Krullboll he shouted "good luck" then I heard an explosion just outside the force made me jerk upwards, I saw four death messages come up including Krullboll, I ran outside too see 3 dead members of the convoy and the others were either knocked out of severely wounded, I walked out with no remorse I unloaded several shots into the wounded and knocked out members of the convoy, I called to Chris that it was clear, he walked out we grabbed some gear form the corpses, I looked at the wreckage of the Helicopter, Krullboll a remarkable guy I knew for about an 90 mins felt like I lost a great friend, he flew back and sacrificed not only the helicopter but his own character to save us, we saluted the fire caused from the explosion and headed South to help some more people........
  3. And what about the people who want to have fun and play the game as a helpful person? Not everyone is out to get you. I try and help people whenever I can, and only kill when my own life is threatened.

Will stand alone make Mod obsolete?

I totally agree with you on this, I think a standalone will also be great, because not only will it support the hard work that has gone into it, but it will also give the strict ArmA players more access to normal games, as most of the servers that I used to play on was changed to DayZ and I think a standalone will really please everyone of the ArmA community. The hardcore strict ArmA players that just want to play the Valhalla game and those players who just play DayZ and this will prevent conflicts between the two different classes arguing. But it will also please the more laid back gamers like me and appears to be yourself, as it will allow us both to play the different games we enjoy with more ease than the current situation and we also get the satisfaction of supporting BI for the brilliant work they have done to make DayZ possible, and supporting Rocket and his team for thinking of the idea and physically making the mod. Yet again you have my beans

A safe route to start and get basic supplies.

Yeah I agree with you but most people just head for the big cities especially if they are new, so yeah, usually if i spawn in Kamenka i head north to the deerstands and end up coming up Zelenogosk

Most memorable moment in DayZ so far?

A while ago, was hunting some animals near the forest North of Elektro, where I heard a Helicopter over head following a man running away, they were laughing and joking at the man who was being hunted, I happened to have a AS50 and I took pity on the man being hunted I took aim through the scope and shot into the engine, I heard the rotor cut out and the chopper dropped height rapidly then I just heard an explosion. The man just kept running not stopping to even say thanks he just kept running away, when I checked their bodies they had some rare weapons and lots of food. That by far is the my most vivid memory of DayZ

    Justified killing

I wouldn't say it was justified as they was no a clear threat to yourself at that time, but I do not blame you, you were nervous and when things like that happen its fight or flight and you had a human response in which you eliminated the threat, I would advise to perhaps watch them next time as I have noted on my own posts and from posts that I have not commented on that it can be a very rewarding experience if you end up helping other survivors, or just watch what they do. As it can lead to a nice experience. Good luck and stay safe -MoistNinja999

    Bandit Problem?

In my opinion there isn't a problem with bandits as they are a key part of the emotion and thrill of the game. But I think a lot of people including myself have a problem with the way bandits deal with people. Most bandits just kill on sight people even if they are unarmed or oblivious to the bandit. Many people including myself prefer the way bandits operated before the DayZ was hyped up, where the bandits used to actually, talk to the players and ask them to drop their stuff like a proper robbery but now there are only a handful of bandits that don't just shoot people on sight for their loot. It kinda makes the game frustrating if you have no weapons, no supplies and you just started and you get shot from somebody you didn't even see on the coastline.

    Guardian Angel

Booted up an character that had a long life, I had a ghillie suit DMR and a MP5SD in my backpack, and I had a m19.11 with me with food and medical supplies. When I was walking along the forest and I happened to see a new player in the game, no equipment, no weapons and I decided to track him and watch what he does, I followed him for around 15 mins before, he was a decent player, cautious and careful. We was on the outskirts Kamenka where we bumped into trouble, I heard gunshots firing only to see the person I was tracking running when I saw him take a hit directly to his leg and back and he tried to crawl away, he was talking on voice to spare him and let him be. I knew what I had to do the shooters walked up to his corpse and one of them reloaded their weapons and took aim on him, that's when I took aim with my DMR and fired, a loud CRACK filled the air as the first shooter fell the second, started firing in my general direction where I took aim and double trapped him in the chest he fell. I ran up to him where he was begging that I do not kill him and he has been shot by bandits, then he passed out, I bandaged him gave him some morphine for his leg and then dragged his unconsciousness body inside a house away from zombies, I left him the bandits weapons and loot and left him a message on local chat, saying "I've been following you for the last hour or so and I hope I have helped you, here is some equipment and some medical supplies,I wish you good luck in the future as I must leave you now, If we ever meet again my name is MoistNinja and for now I bid you farewell" I have yet to come into contact with that person yet, and I wish him well, seriously if you are reading this I hoped I helped you, and others reading this try it, you feel so good if a chance comes in which to help him out. Good luck, and be safe :beans: -MoistNinja999 :beans:

    Hunters Become Hunted

Me and friend, were in Elektro as we recently died as were looking for supplies and then heading to link up too our friend Ben on the Northern hill of the northern post station in Elektro, Ben was armed with a DMR. Me and Bee my other recently dead companion, found some food but no weapons so we decided to head North to link up with our friend as we was passing the Hospital 2 bandits appeared one with a .45 and another with a Lee Enfield, as we had hardly anything we attempted to bluff them into thinking we had no supplies whatsoever, they believed us, but it was different, instead of letting us go I heard one of them state that he only had 3 rounds left in his Lee Enfield, and his shots had to count, his counterpart chuckled and said its all in good sport. One of the bandits said you have a 10 second start, you better start running, realising what was happening myself and Bee turned and ran to the original station in the hope that our friend could save us from this nightmare. Ben was having some connection problems at this time and was taking a long time to load into the server. After about 10 second we heard shots and laughter erupting from behind us, we found this experience terrifying but at the same time exciting as this has never happened to us before. I heard a crack from the Lee Enfield smash to the road sign ahead of me it missed my face by inches, then came some rapid shots from the Revolver which smashed into the ground around us, then I heard the second shot of the Lee Enfield which then landed into Bee's leg, and his body shattered into the ground, he pushed himself up into a crouch where the 3 and final Lee Enfield shot was fired into the back of Bee's head which silenced Bee's shouts of panic. I continued running despite the death of my friend, and I made it too the station I ran up the stairs, where to my salvation I found a 870, I picked it up a loaded it, where I heard taunts from the two bandits almost chanting "Nowhere to run now, Nowhere to hide" I then heard the bandit with the revolver state he hasn't got a weapon I think I'll kill him with my hatchet, at this time I allowed myself a shallow grin at the hearing of this, the first bandit came up the stairs with the hatchet primed he kept taunting as he came "Im going to kill you, Im gonna kill yo-Oh shit!" His cursing was the result of him stating down the barrel of my 870, in which I promptly unloaded in his face killing him instantly. I walked down the stairs, shotgun primed to meet the other bandit with his Lee Enfield Pointed at the stairs, where he shouted "Stay Back or I shoot" As I remembered how many shots were fired and the number he said at the beginning, I answered with a "Shoot me then"to get was determined to get revenge he aimed his Enfield, when he heard the dead mans noise, a click no gunshot he was out of rounds. After this he turned and ran for the door as he opened the door it was followed by crack in the distance and his body falling to the ground, it was Ben he loaded in the game just in time to shoot the retreating bandit. This was by far one of the most exciting moments in DayZ, although I despise bandits I admired these two they reminded me of the first bandits in DayZ that, they added some excitement and it was actually a pleasure to meet these two as they did not just shoot on sight. To the bandits that attacked us I would like to thank you, for not being like the other bandits and I would like to thank you all for allowing me to share this story. :beans: -MoistNinja999 :beans:

A safe route to start and get basic supplies.

Happy to hear it helped
  15. Hello, Ladies and Gents, and I will be sharing with you a route that me and some of my friends use regularly use when starting off. First of all this route mainly, concerns spawning in Cherno or some of the close western spawn points. First of all coming in from the west of the city you will want to enter along the coast at too the supermarket next to the Church, be warned you can choose to loot the church but go at your own risk as it is regularly checked by other players. After looting the Supermarket follow the road to the Northern most Hospital (You should only have to follow the road), in there be weary as this is probably the most dangerous part of the journey, bearing this in mind you should not let your guard down on this journey. After looting the Hospital you should now have some food, medical supplies and perhaps a weapon, you now have to get out of the city, I advise looking to the West and looking for the big Power Lines, if you follow these you will come to the Fire Station at Elektro, Keep in mind that the Power Lines may appear to be leading North but they will eventually lead you to Elektro without contact with Players Or Zombies. You can then enter Elektro from the North or you can decide to just head North to live your days the in the zombie apocalypse. Anyway I hope this helped some people out there, perhaps I have given some new people a tip to start, good luck, keep low and never let your guard down. :beans: -MoistNinja999 :beans:
