Just to add to the discussion (if it hasnt been added already, but wont read 15 pages) by far the most common weapon you will find in sweden (where i live) that isnt a Military weapon or a shotgun, will be a scoped hunting rifle. Think about it. If you rule out the military (since thats not what were talking about here), hunters are the single largest users of weapons in most countries. And they use either shotguns or scoped rifles. So a basic scoped rifle shouldnt be very rare in a rural country like the one depicted in DayZ. Sure, it sucks that anyone can pick one up and start hunting humans, but on the flip side, they'll have to use their secondary to kill zombies and we all know how fun that is... EDIT: and speaking from experience, those CZ550's can pull aggro on zeds from a surprisingly large distance. And when they do, you'll need something other than the "sniper" rifle to take them out, and it also leaves you completely exposed to anyone you were firing on if they arent dead already...

Sweet! i found out something new from that... Deerstands spawn military equipment... ive never even looked twice at a deerstand since i believed them to be empty.

Personally, all id like to see is chernarus with a few more enterable buildings added to each town/village... theres nothing worse than getting low on ammo and food and finding a village with no enterable buildings at all...

Ignoring the fact that most would just want to kill the merchant and take all his stuff, even if you couldnt, someone else would just be waiting nearby to shoot you when you stand there talking to the merchant. Not to mention the fact that it goes completely against the realism bit of this game. If you want merchants in this game, just start your own shop somewhere... But ill promise you that it wont last very long (even if you have guards)

Oh god no... please no sort of half-arsed "respawn" with alot of stuff... one of the main appeals of this game is the tension you get from knowing that if you die, all your stuff are gone 4ever (unless you find the guy that killed you). I know some people cant seem to handle that kind of pressure (hence so many Alt-F4'ers) but if you cant you really shouldnt be playing this game... its not for you.

Never assume that youre in a place that nobody can get to fast and because of that, leasurly mention in chat that theres Y-loot in XXX-city because there WILL be someone just outside the town waiting for you when you leave... Unless its a crossbow... :D

The only thing that annoys me about that is the guns that use individual ammo, like the revolver, shotguns and bolt-action rifles... you can easily load those one round at a time (some you have to) so why force the player to only load 2 rounds all of a sudden, just because his "clip" only has 2 rounds left. But im not sure if that can be fixed... but its kinda silly that you have to load only 2 shots into your shotgun for example, when you should just be filling the gun with loose rounds...

The main problem with this is that the people with access to that server are semi-cheating... it means they can just ROFLstomp through the world as a group, building up a huge stash of stuff with no fear of loosing any of it and then go on other servers with all that stuff which makes it unfair against others who always have to worry about other survivors and bandits and cant rally just blast though all the towns and stuff like that.

Cool screens, but they are a bit misleading tho... what you should do is add one of a survivor hiding in the deepest woods, and one of a group of bandits shooting a noob walking down the highway with a flare in his hand... THATS dayz :P

I always get swamped by zeds when i use the CZ... I prefer getting up close and personal with the shotty :D

And the icing on the cake is that all our characters are starving in the meantime...

Yeah, for some reason ive gotten the red chain, and "no messages" thing every time ive been attacked by zeds :/ but now im stuck in the infernal limbo of "waiting for host response"....

I cant seem to join any servers and i just noticed that they all required version 1.60 and not 1.57... but theres nothing on the announcements about a new version, and i didnt see any new files in the downloads... am i missing something?

Yeah, i noticed that now, but i havent been able to play more than twice today (once of which was completely bugged, no zombies and no loot). just "waiting for server"...

No, version 1.57 of DayZ is from may 2012 i believe...

But i just bought the ArmA2 game yesterday and played earlier today... And its on steam so it updates automatically...

I just started playing, but now that i find out that ill starve or die of thirst in-game if i dont log in often enough, i might just give up on the game (and ill tell my guild to do the same) until this is changed. I play alot of different games and i dont have time to log on every single day just to go scavenge for food. Sure its immersive, but its still a game and should be a fun thing, not a bloody chore... i got enough of those at work...
