What vehicles would you like to see in DayZ?
glemmar replied to over9000nukez's topic in General Discussion
Absolutely no western cars. Old run down soviet era vehicles would be awesome. -
They nerfed/fixed the fists up running. You run at the same speed fists up as you would with fists down. Try losing them by going through buildings, bushes and jumping over fences.

As I stated in my previous post here, this matter has indeed divided my oppinion since what you said is exactly the opposite side of this matter. I love the fact that you in real life have to know how to do things in this game rather than that your ingame character has to know something. For example, currently I act as the medic of my crew because I'm the only one that had the time and could bother to learn how the characters work, what the different medical equipment do and what symptoms are caused by what, rather than that I've bandaged 1000 wounds or that I have unlocked level 3 medical skills. But like op stated, there is a problem that people don't really care about dying, all their currently care about is their gear, which you tend to lose when you die. People should really start caring about the life of their character and no matter what the situation death should never be a desirable option. But to be honest, I have no idea how accomplish this without causing too much butthurt for some...

This has divided my oppinion for a very long time. What I definetly don't want is xp based skill trees where you can allocate points to things like "level 1 bandaging" and so on. But yeah there is a problem with the fact that there is no need to keep your character alive if you don't have or you are sure to lose your valuable gear. I think what this guy said, is a step into the right direction. Having your skills improve sort of "behind the scenes" would make your character more valuable the longer you have been alive. For example crafting stuff would improve your skill at crafting which would reduce the time it takes to craft a certain item or something. But still, I don't want anything like "You need level 28 wound bandaging to bandage this wound" like things. Also no magical bullet dispersion because your gun skill is lower, but rather your gun could sway a little bit more than someone who has a better gun "skill".

Is this a fact or do I really represent the minority? I mean, there seems to be a lot more regular servers than hardcore servers and to me this suggest that 3pp is more popular than no 3pp. Same goes for the mod. Anyway, I personally consider it a lot easier to play on a server with no 3pp, since you don't have to be worried about someone camping on a roof or behind a corner just waiting until you are looking in the other direction and then filling your back with bullet holes. Also flanking and keeping someone pinned down is lot more easier when they can't just prone down behind a wall and look around freely. But on the other hand 3pp works both ways. While it might give someone an edge in a battle it can also be their down fall as they can be as easily spied upon by someone else. I think the best solution is the current one. Give both sides different sand boxes to play in the way they want to play the game. If someone says that hardcore servers don't have player in them, all I can do is wonder how it is even possible if 90% of people hate the 3pp. The no 3pp servers should be packed full all the time. Also I don't want people to get me wrong, I enjoy playing on no 3pp servers from time to time.

My best GUESS would be next wednesday (26.2.) during the weekly maintenance.

Persistent storage containers; do you like the idea or not?
glemmar replied to -MadTommy's topic in General Discussion
I should have been more specific what I meant with I agree that a buried protector case or similar should not be able to hold an assault rifle or anything big, but if you for example dig a hole, reinforce it with some logs and cover it with sticks/branches and tarp/camo netting, then that should be big enough to store a couple of weapons or few bigger items. Of course this sort of stash should cause some degradation on the items in it over time. Of course building such a thing would require few tools and some materials. -

Not being able to store weapons would make no sense. What would make even less sense is that if you die all the items in your containers would become ruined instantly. Lets say I follow some guy for hours back to his stash and while he starts going through his containers I kill him. When I move in to check what delicious loot my hard work had earned me I would notice to my disappointment that everything is ruined because the owner of those containers is dead. What would be a much better solution would be that the items in his containers would start to deteriorate at increased speed. -

Why thank you, I was actually. Anyway the reason for me taking loot that I don't need and dumping into the bushes is here. Have my beans good sir. -

I currently pickup all ammo, guns, attachments and magazines I find/can carry and then just toss them into the woods so that none else can find them when they come looting around because why should I leave it behind for someone else to pickup? -
How much authenticity is too much?

What ever makes the medical mechanics and surviving wounds more difficult is always a step forward. -
You can't. You need an other player to apply it to you.

We NEED some way to identify heros and bandits.
glemmar replied to 1S1K-Airborne's topic in General Discussion
I think bandits and heroes should have different kind of under wear. When two people meet, they would both remove their pants to see what they are carrying under those camo pants. -
Because eyes are the mirror of the soul, people with evil souls usually try to hide/cover them. This can be done with sunglasses and/or masks. Also, anyone who knows anything about hat based social interactions should know that the more "badass" your hat is (ballistics helmet, pilot helmet and camo bandana or baseball cap) the more evil you are. Zimjovkas usually mean they are pure of hearth.

Well abusing saline bags doesn't really have any effect since blood isn't your health. Even if you have full blood (from saline bags and/or blood bags), but you are low on health you'll die pretty easily.

Rolling Changelog: Stable Branch: 0.32.114557

Maybe because you might have friends you are playing with and communicating in your native language over mumble, ts or skype and you don't need to make surviving harder for yourself and your crew because you have some random guy (most likely untrustworthy) tagged along with you. In my opinion the easiest way to stop spawn cycling with suicide is to enable spawn menu like in the mod. You could chooce where you spawn. No more suicides or "punch me in the face plz" requests.

Being a bandit that doesn't KoS feels good.
glemmar replied to Mays (DayZ)'s topic in General Discussion
When I try to cuff someone, they just disconnect when I tell them to put their hands up, so the only way to rob people is to first put a bullet in them. GG. -
Naturally, since then you'll get all the loot he had acquired in the past two hours.

I can't believe this thread is still alive. All I can say is that you two truely are elite at what you are doing. Well played.

EZ mode. Popular with the kids these days...
glemmar replied to jjw100's topic in General Discussion
Please tell me about these other shooters where if you fail/die you will have to start from scratch and spend a whole lot of time to get back to where you was? Last CoD I played was the first Modern Warfare and the last Battlefield I played was BF2, and back then getting killed in them just ment that your K/D was slightly smaller which to me didn't really mean that much. And those people that recomend playing Arma III or whatever, I've played Wasteland and found it boring since it took only like 5-10 minutes to find a vehicle, assault rifle and decent optics for it. I found no feeling of actually losing anything when dying in that map and the same goes pretty much to all the milsim maps where you start with weapons. I get the thrill in this game from the risk of losing your hard earned stuff and so far the only other game where I've had this feeling was EVE online. And before you ask why I won't go back into that game is because I can't be bothered to pay the subscription. Currently there is no reason not to kill others in this game since there is nothing to gain expect a bullet in your head/back for not doing it. -

Thanks bro, I bet many people have ton of great stories about DayZ and I just love it how easily you can get awesome stories out of a game (a mod for nitpicks) that doesn't have any story in it self.
