    ignore the messages, press tab and eat/drink until the hungry/thirsty canvas disappears. use pumps to drink, in every village should be at least one. visit dayzdb.com if you cant find any!

    silkroad online had it that way - and it worked pretty well. if you want to log out in a hostile environment where you cant even stay still for 60s w/o getting killed you are combatlogging in my opinion.

    this source is stating the following mechanics: - 2,5k energy aka food and 3k water -> 1blood/s - 5k energy and 2,5k water ->3blood/s the article is written in german, but the tables are pretty much self-explaining. note the difference between blood and health! your health is said to increase at 1health/s if you got 5k blood (=maximum), 5k energy and 2,5k water. since the author does not poste any sources for this information (he/she is stating that he had a look at the standalone files. whatever "having a look" is supposed to say) i cannot guarantee the truth or fully operationality of this system. my personal guess is he is right and i hope its working with patch 113860.

    omaagoood, in case it does NOT work just download w7 from the official sources and either crack it or just never activate it - or are you that dependent on a desktop background? cause thats the only thing missing if you do not activate w7. and as shadow said: dont use w-xp. there is just no sane reason to do, at least on gaming machines.

    Scopes are wrong.

    i am not that much into directx-programming, but i have read an article about portal's way of rendering their scenes with their "recursive world" and i am sure that you do not have to render the scene twice. and he is not arrogant, he does what he is supposed to do: he points out bugged/quick-and-dirty-coded aspects of this game that need to be taken care of.

    this is a more-or-less serious forum, not 4chan or a chatroom for 10yearolds. if you expect serious answers ask serious questions and behave appropriate. asking FOUR TIMES within FOURTEEN MINUTES is not the code of conduct you should be showing off in this forums. BTT: i didnt try it, and i do not understand why gaming-pcs should still use w-xp. i dont see any valid reasons why it should not run either, so...

    i would say: yes. because even if its an alpha, much mimimi will be heard when they remove it from the startup-gear again. they should rather fix items like the bajonnet to open cans (afaik so far only the kitchen knife, the screwdriver and the can opener are working), or increase their spawnratio, enable hammers and axes to open cans with 75% loss penalty - but do not provoke the bambis' enrage tour through the forums.

    what else should it be if not a bug? i doubt ppl talk like they do on purpose, since they shouldnt be able to talk to the whole server anyways.

    i totally agree. i do not want a herd of zeds running after me and through every obstacle i put between them and me, since their behaviour can be quite... clingy. some of them even camp your position when you put 1km+ bewteen you and them and log out for some hours, and i dislike getting knocked out immediately after logging in. to ensure a pleasant testing environment issues like tents and vehicles should maybe have higher priority as well - its very annoying to be unable to establish a base.

    i think we have a different understanding of "working" ;) and if you have any information on any changes of the client/server communications please post a link, i am glad to learn - but since yesterday the old spawn commands were working i highly doubt that. and im sorry, but if you think that software written so many years ago and with concepts that involve "trusted clients" can be easily fixed to meet the needs of dayz you are gravely mistaken. rocket said they were rewriting the communication, and yet all we see is the same old arma2 scripting system we all wanted to be gone. well, maybe the insane 250k sold keys will result in reviewing that decision in the later development process. server performance could be increased by a reasonable amount, if the unneccessary overhead of the arma2 scripting engine would be removed, i guess.

    there is a very big problem if you use a 10year old, unreliable interpreter for some basic client->server messages. like sending decently designed opcodes and parse them efficiently on the server would be too much work - lets rather send whole strings and let them get executed (after some filtering, ok... whose reliability is yet to be proven) by the famous server software that allows users to fly in invisible helicopters they demanded to be spawned themselves. rocket clearly gave the impression to be working on that issue...
  17. the player can alt+f4, but if the character persists in the world and can be looted and shot i see no problem. the problem is rather that the database access is too unreliable.
  18. enforcing the character to stay in the world and prohibiting the player to join another server would be a better solution in my opinion. crashes and disconnects happen - your fate should be at mercy to your enemy, not death by default.

    if rocket would put out bounties like unique-characterbound clothing ("hackers hat", whatever) or some other gifts and provide a testing environment, i guess that would be more likely. but for now id rather like him to work on vehicles&tents, you cant expect a bounty system like similar services are providing 3days after alpahrelease.

    as i said, just try it yourself - but apparently flaming ppl that touched the allmighty holy BE (and without any reasonable argument) like a 10year old has priority... sigh. lets hope the serverside-checks work properly now - i dont want to get crushed by a stampede of skodas.

    1.) nope, i am not banned and playing fine? just because someone has more information than you does not imply that he is hacking. 2.) yep i did, and as i said: i guess i know better what BE can do and cannot. 3.) yep, that is exactly what an anti-cheat should take care of: watch the integrity of the process and prevent unwanted access. i do not want to extend this useless discussion, but there are many ways to notice code injections started via createRemoteThread and a custom dll (which is the most straight-forward method you can think of) - and serious anticheat measures like pb or VAC are 1) permanently checking their own address space for modifications and 2) checking their games' space as well, furthermore to the "song of hooks and fire". rocket said this year: apparently did it did not go well...

    which it obivously did NOT do, since there are still enough opensource and fully operational and accessible for anyone who can use google :rolleyes: can we quit the useless discussion about battleye? its neither productive nor @topic. a 15year old with google, a c/c++ compiler, a quick briefing about arma2's memory structure and some more-or-less-deep knowledge of the win32 api can build a working maphack within a few hours. fun fact: change the getversion method of battleye and it will not patch anymore, but still pretend to be up-to-date to arma2s servers :huh: but the question is still unanswered: why did DayZ SA not get the server software it deserves? the player base has stated perfectly clear that it wanted a new, and welldesigned client/server communication and server software, and yet rocket has to deal with problems created by unbearable designs that appear to be created back in the '90s. well maybe they will change it later on, or the community will create their own - just like bukkit did with minecraft.

    seriously, what do you know about BE? it didnt even notice when we attached IDA's debugger to it. BE is useless. the straightforward-approach with simple ReadProcessMemory to get all positions of all objects was not fixxed so far, and opensource maphacks are still existing and working - that is NOT what i call "working anticheat measure".
