While I don't dislike anything in particular about the current health system, I think it might be a good idea to start talking about ways to improve upon it. I just don't think I should be able to walk off a gunshot to the gut by eating a couple steaks. My idea assumes that "Blood" is literally meant to be the blood in our body not an arbitrary health meter. My proposition is to have blood always regenerate at a painfully slow rate something like 50-100 per minute giving a full regeneration every 2-4 hours (50 bpm when running 75 bpm walking 100 sitting/in vehicle?). Bandages still stop bleeding the way they do, I don't think those need to change. Food would no longer grant immediate blood restoration, but would boost the rate at which you regenerate blood. Personally I would cap it at 300 which would grant full restoration at 40 minutes. Downing multiple food items would not stack, meaning you would need to eat once the effect of the other food item wears off/it is fully digested. Food still restores the same amount of blood just over time. A secondary thought, I think it would be cool to have more animals in the game. Just make the world seem more alive. Right now it's painfully static. If food only boosted health regeneration and meat did not grant 800 blood instantly, we could have so many more animals around (possibly aggroing zombies), but we wouldn't have to worry about healing being too easy because it's going to take a long time no matter what. And a potential fix to having an abundance of meat, would be to make meat (not canned food) perishable. I don't know how difficult that would be though, to have meat be replaced with spoiled meat after a certain period of time. I just think it sucks that I go through the wilderness for hours and see a single rabbit, and then one goat. I want some wildlife dammit. Some other thoughts: -I would think that the regeneration rate could go even lower. Note that the full recovery times are from 0. Most of the time I am healing at around 9000 which means you would be back to full in 1 hour at the lowest rate. -Having some form of stimulant item like adrenaline would be handy to temporarily negate the status effects coupled with low blood allowing you to get out of danger and begin recovery. -Food still needs to be eaten to avoid starvation obviously. -Blood transfusions would still be instant blood. -Being hungry/thirsty reduce the rate at which you regenerate blood? Possibly down to 0 if you begin starving? Sorry if this has been suggested before, I searched and found nothing.

slow positive health regeneration.
drseptapus replied to Hiddenshadows57's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
I made a thread about this a little while ago (in the sig). My idea was that we would have a slow base rate of regeneration at around 25 blood per minute. Food and water levels would cause it to fluctuate, starving = less regeneration. Eating would temporarily boost the rate of regeneration to around 150 blood per minute for varying durations (longer for steak, shorter for beans). If you are bleeding you have no regeneration, you need bandages to stop bleeding, and then you need to rest and stay well fed and hydrated in order to recover. My reasoning for this was that 1.) getting healed instantly by eating is stupid. 2.) We will never have a realistic health system. This is about as good as an emulation as I think we can get. 3.) It will allow you to recover slowly, but you won't be able to tank those hordes of zombies. -
Fighting bandits with... dogs!

Beans for more wildlife -
You're getting me all hot and bothered
-
Agreed. The insta health is just killing it for me right now.

The link in my sig is pretty similar to yours. In that thread the general consensus is that a slow regen rate that would be boosted by eating and resting would be more realistic than eating a steak after getting shot

Feature Request: Dent Puller & Screw Driver

How else will you pull the dents? -
Stop trying to punish bandits/favor one playstyle over another.

Quick someone post that light pollution picture! Also you have to realize that it is the apocalypse. There doesn't seem to be any stable power grid anywhere meaning most likely there are no cities lighting up the sky at night. Without light pollution shit gets real dark.

That doesn't change the fact that this is still game breaking. The second someone is trained on you and your spidey-sense kicks in, no matter how subtle it is, you will become accustomed to it and react immediately. You will train yourself to notice immediately when someone is aiming at you. All it will do is increase tension and cause people to shoot each other even more out of fear of being stalked like an animal. I don't see how anybody can think that is a good idea. General awareness and caution is all you need in my opinion. Once the item duping stops, and the ammo glitch is fixed and a real endgame is implemented I believe PvP action will subside significantly. Right now it's happening mainly because theres nothing else to do. You don't fix that by making people super heroes.

I am but a lowly intern doing mobile apps, but i'm down to help in any way.

Port it to Android and I'll happily download it. aaaaaanyway. This thread might be of some service. http://dayzmod.com/f...ou-have-an-api/ Edit: Important people gave their input starting at post #11.

Not to sound like a dick or anything but guns are loud.

A sixth sense is not realistic. You know why? Because people don't have a sixth sense. This is an incorrect response to the PvP issue. The only way PvP will ever be addressed (and Rocket has said this many times) is by the players themselves doing something about it. There will never be anything implemented that discourages one play style over another Rocket has been pretty clear about that.

But i'm not Spiderman. This is going against the whole realism concept the game is based on.

Remove sniper rifles..more realistic...
drseptapus replied to gozzgug's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Sniper rifles should be super rare. Once the item dupe glitch gets fixed i'm sure we will see a lot less snipers. Also I would like to make the point that there is a difference between killing someone who has too much food in order to feed your starving family, and sociopathic murder. The latter is what has been happening mostly in this game and is really too bad. You snipers can yell about how headshoting people looking for beans and pepsi is "surviving in a zombie apocalypse" but you're just hurting the game. This game is the best attempt at that fantasy zombie game everybody has had and instead of embracing it and trying to help it turn into something that makes a mark on the industry you(no thought PvPers) are just killing for killings sake and turning people off of the game. This game is sold as a zombie apocalypse simulator, what people get instead is a shitty military sim mod where people they can't see headshot them for no reason. -
Would be hilariousif the game had scary things in the forest.

I would rather have bears, wolves, or wandering zombies. -
Something that would make this game good

Eat my fatty, sodium laden beans OP -
Probably a hacker. That's currently a huge issue.
-
Yeah if it was a player specific option then I would totally support that. Then I can have it off and whoever wants it on can have it. That would be ideal.
-
Probably because you're not buying them new from CVS. You scavenged them and as such they have been opened and used before. You are taking the last couple of pills for yourself.

Remove the Player Killed message from chat
drseptapus replied to Obsolescence's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
I support this. But I don't see why everybody else should HAVE play like I like to. I guess having it vary by server would be the way to go. -
Haha yes it is. I played religiously for a while but haven't played it recently. I should get back into it. Anyway on topic: I guess i'm somewhat of a purist in that sense? I want to remove the killfeed totally. I want only the necessary indicators on the HUD (health, food, water, ammo). I like to get into my games in the sense that for a brief period of time hopefully I get totally immersed in a new world. Same with movies and books. Maybe it's weird but with a good book/game/movie I can almost forget that i'm reading/playing/watching something. Just for reference the way I have been playing Day Z has been this: I come home from that RL people talk about boot up the computer headphones on lights off, door closed get in the ****ing zone and I start playing. When I see that little text message from "TurboK1ng1337" asking if anybody wants to go farm the airfields it just kills the immersion for me. If I can tell myself that I heard that over the radio, then it works.
-
Oh god it does. Just got new headphones and was really looking forward to freaking the eff out in Day Z. Didn't really happen. The only thing mildly scary is that first aggressive zombie noise. Then you're fine and nothing else really scares you. Anyway, I'm all for this. It would add another layer of immersion I think. Sound is not horrible by any stretch of the imagination but it could definitely use some attention.
