    No, because we're not providing how to run an ARMA 2 / DayZ server. There are plenty of tutorials out there. It would honestly be a waste of resources if we were to write a tutorial, I am afraid. Just google it and you will find a guide. Please do remember, however: it is fairly fragile and hard to set up and requires a lot of constant maintenance, so think twice before setting it up,

    You said you got "DayZ" yesterday, are you talking about the Standalone? Because the Standalone does not require DayZCommander. DayZCommander is only for the mod, which is a Modification for ARMA 2 and ARMA 2: Operation Arrowhead. Do you own those games and have them installed?

    That is the purpose of the Mi-17, though. It's supposed to be somewhat rugged and the fact that you can effectively take it out with three shots of a DMR doesn't make it too overpowered. Obviously it wasn't moving in my example, but what would be the difference in that case? The PKM's on the Mi-17 are spraying more than you can hit anything with it. And if you want to hit anything, you almost have to hover or be in stable flight anyway, making your tailrotor / engine / gunner a target, as they're not protected at all. If someone is trying to land at your base and you're there you should easily be able to damage their engine if they're coming in for a landing, and as soon as you start hitting their engine they should break anyway, if they don't you're destroying their engine. In either case you turned the situation to your favor. Always consider the backrotor as well. You can easily take that out with three shots. If they're just paradropping people you can shoot the people in the parachutes, as they're not protected and are actually in an awkward shuffle upon landing where they can't hold their weapon (ARMA bug). So, what points are you trying to make exactly? I am more than willing to give in, but I don't see the problem. The only case where you can't take the Russian out is when it's flying around in an orbit - but that's not posing any threat towards you anyway?

    DayZ Mod 1.8.0.3 Hotfix.

    Knowledge about the technicalities of helicopters and other vehicles always was required in DayZ Mod to take down any sort of vehicle. This is simply being smart in combatsituations knowing exactly what you need to do in order to effectively disable any vehicle without having it blow up. This goes for shooting the wheels out rather than just blindly shooting at the car's engineblock, as that way you will lose all the goods that are inside. This knowledge also needs to be applied to helicopters, as the one that has the knowledge is in the advantage of being able to use this. If you do have it, you should be rewarded and almost nothing is impossible in DayZ. That's how it should be and that's why this will never change. For demonstration purposes I have a video I just recorded for you with the DayZ standard Russian helicopter, the supposed "invincible tank" amongst the helicopters DayZ has. People always claim facts in DayZ that are just wrong. Only six rounds from a DMR can completely disable the Russian helicopter: The knowledge about the position of the engine should reward you with being able to take down the chopper fairly easily. Even though I personally very much prefer to take out the tailrotor of anyone's helicopter, as 96% do not know how to land a heli without it. Just tested that as well, by the way. ATRQ takes three rounds.

    Is the attachment system bad for variety ?

    The ARMA 2 system was just in place because of the lack of an attachment system. If there would have been an attachment system there'd be less guns in total as weapons themselves. You just don't have an attachmentsystem, which is why there are so many different weapons in the config. If there'd be an attachmentsystem there needn't be two separate weapons, one the M4A1, and then the M4A1_Aim, as you would just attach the CCO scope to it and you're done with it. These variants are already in game, just with a much better, much easier attachmentsystem. We have always been bottlenecked by the system in ARMA 2, which is why there's only so many attachments we can use for the mod. But what SA did, is a step forward. Don't try and go backwards now, just because you think there is a bigger variety in weapons, if they all have their own configname. Because that's all it is. The attachmentsystem effectively delivers you a much bigger variety and more weapons anyway.

    I don't think the representation on Steam is accurate. It always had problems. Have you ever tried just letting it run instead of pausing / cancelling, just to see what happens?

    Remember to include the exact errormessage. Noone can do anything with "requires some addon", as there can be hundreds of reasons for that. Meanwhile, try this: Rightclick on ARMA 2 in your Steam-List and go to properties --> Local Files --> Browse Local Files In the ARMA 2 folder copy the contents of the "AddOns"-Folder Rightlick on ARMA 2: Operation Arrowhead in your Steam-List and go to properties --> Local Files --> Browse Local Files Paste the files inside "Common"-Folder. That's it. You're set.

    What are your settings in DayZCommander and are you launching it with Steam? What are your launchparameters in DayZCommander and if you're launching with Steam, what are the launchparameters for that? You will find the launchparameters in the settings in DayZCommander and in Steam you will find them by rightlicking the game -> Properties -> Launch Parameters.

    Question on ping?

    Yes, you can play on high ping servers, as there is no kick for pings yet - atleast I have never seen anyone being kicked for it. But it's getting less and less enjoyable, up to a point where it's horrid to play above 200 ping. If you do have servers that are below 100 in your list, do play them - as everything else is just a struggle.

    Please remember, that this forum is not about Epoch. Modding will come for Standalone, but not too soon, as the framework isn't even done yet. One might say that Epoch isn't the true spirit of DayZ, considering the endless flow of items out of thin air with the NPC and their currencysystem. This and the fact it's far too easy to acquire such things makes it not suitable for the original idea of DayZ - and saying the modders should take over DayZ is simply shortsighted, as mods always base on an already existing game, that is finished. This will not happen for a while. Seeing as this thread was unnecessarily derailed already with memespam it shall be locked. Remember, that simply posting memes and .gif's in a topic that is intended for actual discussion is against the rules.

    Exit the games before trying. Make sure everything's closed. What is showing up in your expansions is the lite version of BAF and PMC, which is included in Operation Arrowhead, don't worry about that.
