It's hard to like other mods if they're destroying the essence of what you have wanted for a long time. I don't particularly dislike the people behind the mods and if I do, it's not because of what they've done for the players - it's what they've done to the community in general. In Origins case stealing code and making money out of it and at the same time threatening others with legal actions if they were stealing Origin's Code. In case of Breaking Point it's including a Key-Stealer in the launcher stealing people's keys and using DayZ Code in ARMA III, even though this is against the licensing agreement. Pretty hard to ignore that. In the case of Aftermath I can't say anything bad about the modmakers, as they're working together with us and I like all of them. I can't think of anything they have done wrong in regards to the community. I'd even go as far as saying that it's a shame that Aftermath died out.

What do you mean? I was just pointing out the causes of Desync and I know for a fact that mods like Breaking Point and Origins and Aftermath are hiding a lot of code serverside, which only the server can execute, which will lead to desync due to the amount of code the server has to execute. The reason they're hiding that code is because noone has access to it other than the Server-Admins, which in those cases are only the developers of said mod.
-
If this is your biggest concern, than I am happy to annoucne that this has been changed with the next patch. Only time can tell, but we have changed one or two things about the system, which shouldn't give you these problems anymore.
-
More than likely down to them trying to hide absolutely everything in serverside-scripts, so the people don't know what's going on. Not only so they're the only ones being able to host the server, but also due to antihack-measures: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Obfuscation_(software) But this means it puts a lot of stress on the servers, resulting in desync. Yet again - good performance for client, but poor performance serverside -> bad optimisation.
-
Oh, by the way - if anyone's not seen rocket talking about it about 3 weeks back already: http://www.reddit.com/r/dayz/comments/25y1e5/i_just_received_some_incredibly_disppointing/chly4wq

Yeah, but yet again you're saying ARMA 3 Mods. Just boot up a server with absolutely nothing on there but 100 player slots, no scripts executed, nothing. It will run as smooth as nothing you've ever seen before. Truth is, that most mods for ARMA-games are poorly optimised and that's the reason why it's performing poor. I reckon most of them didn't ever do any performance-checks or optimisation whatsoever. I just remember the hugely problematic Invade & Annex, which had a nice idea - but was essentially just about 100 scripts smacked together to run on a server and it enver went past 25 FPS. When we set out and created the same thing from scratch doing it properly we had something that was well-optimised and performed at abotu 50 FPS average on Altis - which is about the same as you'd get from the Campaign. The sad truth is - none of the modmakers know much about performance-tweaking and usually just add everything they can without ever coming back, revisiting, optimising.

If your only contributions for this topic are going to be either of these MoneygrabbersGame will never be finishedAlpha is an excuseThey're just buying Lambo's trololololthen please use the topic linked below instead of derailing this one. http://forums.dayzgame.com/index.php?/topic/6794-i-give-up-this-game-is-bull-i-want-my-money-back/

Please do not post non-constructive rant-topics like this. Everything will be fixed eventually, in the meantime read this: We strongly advise you not to buy and play the game at this stage unless you clearly understand what Early Access means and are interested in participating in the ongoing development cycle.
-
Please stick to existing topics, as a topic like this will change about nothing. This topic is being read be the BattlEye Devs, so you're better off just using that, instead of creating a new post. Jumping through walls is fixed for next release, as stated by Dean. And when you're trying to delete stuff / change stuff in your pbo you'll get a Global Ban eventually as well. Wrong, you say? We have had people complain about it on this very forum, I say. Please stick to existing topics.

This indicates either of these two things: One possibility is that you're trying to join 1.8.0.3 servers, even though you have 1.8.1 installedOr you're trying to join servers that have not updated their missionfiles yet (which is unlikely, as others are joining it.

admin abuse report? 192.99.18.174:6944

Please note, that Origins is in no way related to us nor anyone on these forums. This means we don't have any control over any of their servers nor are we in contact with the people repsonsible for that. You will have to try elsewhere, I am afraid. -
I want to host a vanilla DayZ official hive server...what's required?
kichilron replied to Chris9183's topic in New Player Discussion
What are we talking about here? This is in the Mod-Section, yet you're talking about GameServers and 80$ / month, which is four times the price for a DayZ Mod Server. -
Please make sure to post in the correct section, as you posted in the Standalone section, which is completely unrelated to your post. Anyway - US3480 is still rocking.
-
People tend to make it harder than it is. The new system is the easiest it can get. The only people that have to deal with a bit of nonsense are the server-owners / admins.

One word to deal with Zombies: Crossbow No way around that. This will always stay.

The Lambo-key is on the desk!

This sounds like you're not loading up the correct mod. Make sure you have the correct mod installed as well as the correct version of it. If you get a the normal ARMA 2 Operation Arrowhead Loadingscreen upon launch, please doublecheck and join other servers as well. The default ARMA 2 OA loading screen is a street behind a hangar with a bunch of humvees.

Almost all of the points I will bring up in this post are regarding actual DayZ Mod, as they all seem to be related to Epoch, or atleast that would make sense, as most of the issues do not happen in DayZ Mod, let me explain: I load up the mod and into my character just as fast as SA, if not quicker. Thinking about it, it's actually quicker than SA. This obviously doesn't account for Epoop, as it's poorly optimised. The M107 was removed waaaay back and the DMR was nerfed and is fairly rare. Serverside-setting. Not the mod's fault. Against the rules of publichive and really depends on the server you're playing on - still doesn't defeat the point of it being against the rules. But then again - 99% of those servers are Epoch, and as the vehicle-amount and everything else is just far over the top on that anyway, it doesn't really make a difference if you're selling them. Have that in the mod as well. Nope. Since 1.8 I have constant 60 FPS, even in towns (and this is with VSync, meaning 60 is max) - I have yet to get that on SA. Nukes? No, not for a long time, as explosions can not be executed clientside anymore. If they try, nothing happens. Just had it happen the other week, but even then it's rare. Needless to mention I didn't die, as he couldn't do shit because of the antihack-measures included in the basecode. Currently working on that one as well as on Basebuilding. Already have something for the next patch. We added about 5 new Points of Interest in the last patch as well as adding new ones for the next one. I would take the Mod's mellee any time over the current system of hitting nothing but the ceiling in a house.

I managed to get a picture of Dean the other day when he was showing me why certain things just will not be fixed: Definitely worth the 4,500th post.

Oppinions do not necessarily be the truth, however. How are 3D artists that work on buildings / clothes and items of that sort of origin related in any way to AI / Zombie-programmers? They haven't even learned the same job, let alone being able to execute said things.
