Rolling server locks (feel free to tailor title)
kichilron replied to Dagwood's topic in Suggestions
If you want to report something, use the report-button. Don't be the backseat-moderator noone likes. -
What are your specs and are you monitoring the temperatures of your system?
-
Correct. At that sign you're almost already in Cherno. Keep following that road.
-
Please don't. Report your post to have a Moderator hide it - this is not the correct way of going about that.

People with informatic knowledge!

Sometimes, yes. Can you specify? Otherwise noone will be able to answer correctly anyway. -
As Fluxley has pointed out already this is all very doable and a lot of people have created entire maps, not just editing the existing ones. Make sure to make your research as the engine is capable of a lot of things - just think about how a mil-sim has been turned into a Zombie-Game.
-
Please do.

The server I'm running this on isn't all that fast, I have to admit. But the overall performance seems to ahve improved. EDIT: It is a dedicated server only managed by me, though. So there's no performanceloss by other servers running on that node.

The problem is if people are trying to switch between versions - which is why a separate DB is always a good idea for testing things. Just imagine someone switching to the old version with a sledgehammer or something. You never know what happens next.

Please don't use DayZCommander anymore, it's obsolete and hasn't been updated in over a year. Use this: http://forums.dayzgame.com/index.php?/topic/205545-dayz-commander-not-working-read-this-dayz-launcher-the-new-alternative/ Or for Vanilla DayZ Mod simply use Steam.
-
Incase you have been playing on my server: quickswitch is activated.
-
I don't think you understand how it works. This is not how it works. Private Servers are private and don't share the Hive / Database / characters with other servers. And thus none of what you said apply.
-
No, it's an entirely different error. Try to read throug it. It gives you exactly the folder in question that is not accepted by that server. This time around you have Panthera and Origins enabled when the server obviously isn't Panthera. You will always have to match your mods to those the server is running. Any additional mod will lead to this error in one way or the other. But it will always give you the exact Mod you need to disable. Let me show you: 1st Error - DayZ Mod: 2nd Error Panthera and Origins:
-
Of course it could, seeing as Mods are already confirmed. If they wouldn't be able to do that, then quite frankly there wouldn't be a reason to have modding in the first place. The question is whether someone's going to make it, though. And it's also entirely possible that someone will make a mod turning every Zombie into Lindsay Lohan, but that's nothing that has to do with the bsae-game nor something that is planned.
-
Won't happen.
-
You can already have that on Private Servers, that's what they're essentially there for. I highly doubt that this is going to be something that will be enforced / encouraged by the Devs, though.
-
And you're still getting that exact same error when you're trying to join a server? Try taking a screenshot again and let me see.
-
I can't be the same error if you disable DayZ Mod and made sure it's not running.
-
Yeah, but why didn't it work? What happens if you try to join the server?
-
You will have to get used to including more information, especially in the modding scene. It's the modding scene, it's not really mant to be working right off. "Didn't work" won't help you solving the problem. What doesn't work? Screenshot? By the way: you most likely slowly get why I'm negatively biased about the mods earlier. They tend to not work while not actually being that good. DayZ Mod can be acquired through Steam and will work right off the Steam-Library without any faffing about.
-
Like I said before: Do NOT enable DayZ Mod.

Multiple players from same IP & BEC 1.606
kichilron replied to HughMorose's topic in Troubleshooting
Hello there and welcome to the Forum, if multiple people are trying to connect from the same network / IP, make sure to use an additional launchparameter on one of the machines: -port=2310 The default port is 2302 and if both players are trying to connect without changing that, there will be problems in adressing the right device in the network. If one adds this as a launchparameter to their game via Steam they're going to be able to play just fine. -
Well, I have given you the answer already. Make sure you're not double-launching something (IE trying to launch through a launcher whilst that is launching from Steam). The way it works then is that it's going to launch the game with both launchparameters - IE: Launcher: -mod=@DayZ_Epoch;@Origins; Steam ARMA 2:OA Launchparams: -mod=@DayZ Then you'll end up with all 3 mods.
-
You are somehow launching DayZ along with it. You can see that yourself, it gives you the warning that you're launching it with the game, but that that is not accepted by the server. Other than that, please note that we can't offer support for those bastardizations of the mod combining three different mods.

Been in since ARMA 2. This is a screenshot I took in Febr. 2014:
